Excellent food and great service. Very interesting decor. Local crowd mostly, clearly a neighborhood favorite.

They were also really helpful in explaining the menu and how you can get a chug (smaller size) if you don't want the full serving. We wanted to try everything. Our main comment and unfortunately it affected our experience a lot is that smoking is allowed inside. This is not uncommon for bars in this country but they could have provided a pleasant experience for everyone and not just some by not allowing smoking inside. We smelled like smoke and our drinks came with a side of ill health. Other than that, we loved this bar and maybe it won't be raining next time so we can sit outside (where people still smoke but the smoke has somewhere to go).

Super Duper bar ! I stayed in Hamburg for 2 nights and…read more...ended up there twice :D In the speakeasy style, you'll find amazing tequila-based cocktails made by the blond girl who's probably one of the best bartender I met so far. Genuine atmosphere, a bit dark, just what's needed, with cool music and people. I tried their special menu which basically is a 6-course cocktail tasting (no worries, they all come into the "Chug" size glass;)) through which you'll discover their signature recipes. Pretty cool stuff, I recommend it for sure. Prices are very ok and staff is super friendly! I loved it and will go back next time I'm in the city !

My chain-smoking friends were happy the smoking ban did not apply here. The caipirinhas came with glow sticks, but were not really up to it. They were stretched with too much lime juice to turn them into long drinks - more lemsip than cocktail. What a shame. I would definitely go again, but try another drink.

I had a great time watching the Germany vs. Argentina World Cup quarter-final here the other day. At the end of the game they played a succession of World Cup songs - a favourite of mine was "Don't Cry for Me Maradona" to the tune of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina". Also the ubiquitous "Schland Oh Schland" to the tune of the Eurovision song by Lena. One of my friends used to work here, and so we get excellent service and cheap prices. After the game you just walk outside and are already on Spielbudenplatz to join the Reeperbahn party, so all in all it was a perfectly excellent place to watch the Germany game. All that being said, it does essentially feel like a pre-theatre bar, being part of the theatre as it is, and so without a particular reason/event to go there I'd personally probably stick to more traditional bars.

It actually remained empty the whole time we were there, so that was a disappointment. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two which comes with a total of four sides and two sauces, so we got the asparagus, broccoli, roasted veggies and truffle fries. As you can see we tried to even out the meat with all the veggies. For the sauce we got the truffle and lobster - both were rich and full of flavor, but we both liked the truffle one best. The steak was cooked perfectly medium and was flavorful and tender. The sort-of table side service (since the steak is cut in the dining room but at a special station vs next to your table) made it seem quite fancy. For dessert we got the coconut sorbet sans "Happy Birthday" message despite hubby making the request with our reservation. Except for the restaurant seemingly not reading the special request in our reservation, this was a nice indulgent night out. The food was good and the wait staff was friendly and helpful, and the view is hard to beat.

Luckily we found an empty table so we sat there and had to wait a while to order and then receive our drinks. The views were incredible and it was worth it. The drinks were decent but definitely a bit overpriced. The espresso martini was a good one. Would recommend for the views for sure but the food and drinks seem a bit overrated.
