Very cool and quirky, mostly used bookstore that we visited during a quick kid-free weekend away at Marina Dunes. I've been into mystery's and thrillers lately and had forgotten a book at home, so I wanted something to read on the beach. This place is packed with books, with an interesting lay out, and a chill vibe. I had a hard time finding specific books on my Goodreads list, but walked away with a classic thriller I've never read "A Simple Plan", and a cozy mystery "The Thursday Murder Club". My husband and I probably spent 90 mins looking at books and the staff left us alone, only asking if we needed help once. The best part...they were having a big sale so both books were under 4 bucks. Definitely worth a visit! read more

This bookstore has a HUGE collection of various authors and books alike. Went with a group who all had varying tastes & interests and we each purchased a couple of books. Not only do they have a large selection of books, the staff is very friendly and helpful, but the prices are incredible - best of all, the money earned goes towards a good cause. What a hidden gem this bookstore is! My kid needed a book for a report due next week and we are away on vacation. I did a google search for bookstores and this one was the closest one to us. They have a great selection of classic and contemporary books at a steal price of $2-$3 based on the books we picked. I was so impressed that I got a gift certificate for a book lover in the Bay Area so he will go visit this place. I will be back! read more

Love that our community has this. I've been to the sales they have hosted at the Marina Library, but I'm glad they have their own shop now! I got 5 books for around $10! They have all genres you can image and also sell DVDs and VHS tapes. $5 minimum for credit cards! Their store has a wishlist which I forgot to take a picture of, but it's asking for donations of certain items to help the shop. It is run by volunteers which is very awesome! I first learned about Friends Community Bookstore when my parents and I discovered it was nearby the Ramada Inn where we were staying and so we decided to have a look at this amazing store. And to my surprise this bookstore is one of Marina's hidden gems because this bookstore has nearly any kind of book or rare to find book series you couldn't find anywhere else and the best helpful staff you can find in any place. In addition their CD selection is so excellent and I was amazed at the great prices for CDs that are rare to find or out of print and you also can find great deals on DVDs too. I can honestly say Marina was smart to put Friends Community Bookstore in the city and it's wonderful to see that you are really helping out the community when you shop and buy purchases from this store and we need more bookstores like this in the future read more

What a great place and quite a large selection of books at unbeatable prices. I've only newly discovered this gem since COVID and they don't offer in store browsing at this time. However if you email them they will send you pics of the shelves for the various areas you are interested in. I curbside picked up about 8 books, many of them hardcover for only $25. Check out their Facebook posts for current stock of items. I can't wait to actually go in and shop. I'm sure there will be many more finds these great new friends have to offer. read more

Brand new book store in Marina. A by product of the main library in Marina. This cute little book store is run entirely by volunteers. You can find some great books, dvds and cds here at very reasonable prices. The rooms are like walking through a maze. Surprises around every corner. There's a children's room too. This bookstore is a treasure in Marina. I love this place. It is amazing that the community can come together to support such a great cause. All of the books are donations, staff are all volunteers, and proceeds of sales go towards the library. Absolutely wonderful books at such a great price. I got 4 books for $7! At this time the bookstore is closed for shopping, but we sent them a list of books through the e-mail listed on their Facebook page. One of the wonderful volunteers went and looked for the books. They wrote back with the choices, we agreed on our selection and price and we were met at the shop at an agreed-upon time, and paid by Paypal. We are looking forward to more purchases, and eventually getting back in to shop! This was really nice. read more

Stopped by once so far. But the one experienced I had here will make me return for more. I walked in was asked if I'd been there before I said no and was immediately walked around for a quick tour and left on my own to discover some great books. The owner/operator was a very kind and very open individual. I purchased two books and stayed for a few minutes to enjoy a conversation with her. At which point I no longer felt like a customer but as a fellow book enthusiast. Thank you for what you do and I'll definitely be returning to support this store and I hope it stays operational for many others to find. (Side note; If you see a light on in a room and no one is in do them a favor and turn off the light) read more
