I like trying local, fast food places that you can't get in the U.S., and Friends & Brgrs is one of those eateries that originates from Finland. For something casual and affordable, I can see why the locals are fans of Friends & Brgrs after having visited myself for dinner one night. Located in the city center of Helsinki and close to my hotel, after a long day of exploring, I was exhausted and hungry. Craving something casual that won't break the bank, I found Friends & Brgrs, which was better than expected. Friends & Brgrs serves smashed burgers with fries, shakes and everything else you'd expect from a fast food joint. But it's better than anything you'd have in the U.S. I visited during dinner time and the place was steady, with a few patrons dining inside. You order on the touchscreen and and grab a number where one of the employees delivers your tray of food to you. After asking the staff for recommendations, they said first timers should try their signature, Friends Burger, which is a classic cheese burger with all the usual toppings, with hand-cut fries and the truffle dipping sauce. My meal was solid. I was seriously impressed by how delicious the burger was from somewhere that's considered a fast food joint. I could easily tell the burger was hand-formed and cooked fresh upon order and the fries were hand-cut. Everything is freshly made here, including the baked buns. Everything just tastes better outside of the U.S. because they don't use trash ingredients - only fresh stuff approved by the EU. I'm a fan. I would totally eat more fast food if the food in the U.S. was like Friends & Brgrs. read more

The dinning room is upstairs so don't feel worried if you approach and it seems dead quiet ! This is definitely a local favorite and was fairly busy when we walked in for dinner. The burger and fries was a good hearty meal. The beef and fries were fresh and tasted "real" Nothing to die for but a good standard burger. They have many different variation from chicken to beef and I believe even vegetarian. For the best bang for your buck definitely get the meal. As a reminder Copenhagen is expensive so you can expect to spend $30 USD on two burger meals. read more

Definitely an extremely flavorful burger!!! Was surprised by the number of people eating and enjoying burgers given that there were so many options available but was happy we came in! Everything was so flavorful, and you could taste that the vegetables (tomatoes, etc.) were extremely fresh! Loved the condiments too. The chicken burger was honestly one of the best I've had in helsinki. Fries also come in a cute basket. More of a restaurant feel so not the best place if you are in a rush, but a great place to sit and eat or take away. read more

The location of the place is very nice! You can see the helsinki square and trams passing by. The Ravintola itself was pretty clean and has industrial kind of setting. You order and pay upfront and get a buzzer to pick up the food when its ready. I ordered Vegan burger meal. From price point of view, it was considerably cheaper. It was 12:50€ and included burger, fresh fries and drink! The burger had simple ingredients but was surprisingly delicious and fries were fresh and crispy! The only complaint I had was that for vegan/vegetarian there was only one option! If you like fresh and simple yet delicious food then I recommend trying this! read more

Americans are an interesting species. On one hand, we appear to bomb and destroy everything in sight. On the other hand, we have the ability to create beautiful things. Creating a beautiful burger is no easy feat, either. As a relatively frequent visitor to Helsinki, I was pleased when I learned about the planned opening of the awkwardly named Friends & Brgrs. I had some difficulty finding a decent burger in the city, it seemed and if there is something overly American about me, it's my perpetual search for a great burger. I really did hit paydirt on my last visit when I splurged on the €29 taster's behemoth at Hotel Kamp. Seriously, I was impressed and I probably was expecting to dismiss it as an overpriced and bland tourist burger. It was not that at all..in fact, I found it to be the...errr...sorry, I digress. We're talking about this other place. I visited the new Helsinki location at around 7 pm on a Tue night. It really does feel quite a bit like Shake Shack so if you've ever had a burger from Shake Shack and wanted one in Helsinki, you're sh*t out of luck because this place is not that. Do they try? Yes...they do. Is it kind of a fun atmosphere? Yes...it is that. Damnit, man...get to the point! How's the burger? Right...sorry...well, it was hopelessly overcooked. The presentation was nice but it was so damn overcooked that I tasted more burn than anything else and you shouldn't be tasting burn in your burger. Never. Ever. No burn. Bad burn. The fries were good, though. I paid about €14 for a double burger w/ fries and a drink and that is not a bad deal in Helsinki for the amount of food I got. Did I mention the burger was overcooked? Well, it was. Would I go back? I might...they have hot dogs on the menu and I'm kind of interested in trying them. Would I have another burger? I might. Perhaps the woman cooking my food was new. Perhaps she likes her burgers tasteless. Perhaps she was trained by a person so uninterested in showing her how to properly cook a burger, that she just learned that way. Whatever the reason...it wasn't a good burger. If you want a good burger, go to Kamp and suck up the cost of their heaven. I had/have hopes for this place but it didn't do it for me. This is the closest a burger joint in Helsinki has come to SoCal fave, In-n-Out. This place is comparable, also, because it uses domestic beef, ground in the restaurant. Additionally, the potatoes are peeled, cut, and fried fresh in house. This was my second attempt at getting my grub on here. The first time, was on opening day an hour before service. If I would have stayed in line then, I might have experienced a shorter order to eat time. Alas, this time, I arrived famished. I saw the drawings in the wall of a side if beef and thought, yeah, I take that. We were told it would be about a 45 minute wait. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I was, like, girl, you better take my order now then. I would not be deterred by grumbling guts. I ordered, hunched over to stop the hunger pains and sucked down some sprite zero. It was nearly estimated time when our disc of deliverance started to ding to announce our dinner was ready. We both got the double with cheese and onions. The kids got kid sized brgr with fries. All the fries were the same size. The kid brgrs were a smaller circumference. First of all, the food was gorgeous. The soft buns were golden and tasty. The beef patties were of substantial size. Overall, it was delicious. The beef was exquisite. The seasoning was nearly perfect. Although, I must say it was a bit salty and the beef was cooked thoroughly. All the ingredients combined to make an awesome brgr. The fries were immaculate: fresh, beautiful, delicious. I was getting stressed out when it looked like my kid was actually going to eat her whole serving because I was totally coveting them. The prices are high and the place is overrun by hipsters, but if you can ignore that then you can get a good burger here. I went with the Chipotle Brgr Meal (€12) which came with a drink that I got to fill myself at the novelty soda fountain. Obviously this is not USA so unfortunately there is no button for ice. Deal with it! When your order is ready, they call your number in Finnish so you'd best remember who was ahead of you in line. Otherwise you could ask the employees; they all speak English fluently. The burger was quite small for the price but it looked great; I especially appreciated that they used what looked like green leaf lettuce instead of iceberg so it held up great against the heat of the patty. What stands out most is the taste of the beef; it is well-seasoned and not overcooked. Just a really great burger all around. The fries weren't awful but could have done with another go in the fryer. As Georgiane F. mentions, this is a good attempt at In-n-Out; the burgers take a long time but are worth the wait, and the fries are freshly cut and not great. All they are missing is an Animal Style-ish upgrade. read more

Friends & Brgrs is a burger joint in Helsinki that sort of feels like a fast food place but when there it is clear that they slightly higher ambitions that your average place. They use a lot of local ingredients and make things locally. The system is however not optimal as when one comes up the stairs often the line blocks the stairs. The cash registers are under dimensioned but I guess it is also related to that they make everything on order so it is not really fast food as one should expect to wait minimum 10 minutes even when it isn't busy. So how is the burger. It is pretty good, it is a thin patty so not the big juicy type but the beef has nice flavor and it does not feel dry. The fries are also good and prices are ok. There is a variety of burgers to choose from and my favorite is the cheese and onion one. It is not the best burger I ever had and there are better burgers to be had in Helsinki but at this price level it is good and while not super fast it is still reasonably fast to grab a burger here. The service is friendly and trilingual (for Finland that means Swedish, Finnish and English) and there is also free wifi here while you're waiting for your burger. read more

Awesome place. Everything is fresh and the restaurant was very clean. They make their own buns and mayo, and the fries are fresh cut not frozen, all delicious. Lots of sauces and mayos to choose from. LACTOSE FREE CHEESE AND MILKSHAKES!!!! Both beef and veg options. The beef is from Finland too. There is a limited menu though, not al lot of choices, but it didn't really matter. You order your food, get a pager, go find a table, and then the pager will buzz you when your food is ready for you to get it. Pretty simple and the staff were super nice. Two minor complaints I had were that there was no option for rare/med/well, they were all just well done. Also, very expensive for what you get, simple burgers alone with nothing else are around 8-9 euros, and if you get the meal (fries and drink) it's about 14 euros, and if you sub a milkshake for the drink it's 2.50 euros additional. So my meal was about 15-16 euros for burger, fries, and milkshake. For a casual but high quality meal I definitely recommend this place. read more

Great place! They had veg burgers and the staff was so friendly! We had a long conversation with the waiter and he suggested things to do in Finland. This was the only place we could find that could seat a big group without notice (They moved tables for us). I was in a big group of American Students so we were pretty loud and they didn't have a problem with that. The had no problem explaining to us what some of the things on the menu were and had free refills on drinks which NEVER happens in Finland. Americans from the West will recognize the fare here - it is very much an In N Out Burger but sit down instead of drive in. I like to call this good honest burgers and fries that taste fresh and are served in a very casual atmosphere. You also can't beat the price - 10e for a solid meal. It can get very crowded, especially at peak times, so keep that in mind when deciding to stop here. I do definitely recommend it, however. The food is quite good, especially for the price. read more
