It's a non-profit cat rescue for the area. Staffed by volunteers who work other jobs, Baristocats is a low-key, informal way to interact with the cats who call this home while they wait for their new homes. The staff is knowledgeable about the local pet rescue effort and able to give the history of their current residents. All the cats here are available for adoption. There is a small fee of five dollars for 30 minutes of what the staff calls "serotonin time". If you are there to adopt, you can fill out that paperwork on site. While visitors can't pick up the cats, if one of those cats jumps on your lap, well then, typical of cats, it's their idea and holding them at that point is okay. This cafe, of two rooms, is filled with toys, climbing towers, cages. hiding spots and cats. During my visit, most all of the cats were barely out of kitten stage. They didn't have time to interact with visitors unless that visitor was holding a string they wanted to attack. There is coffee and maybe sodas available if you're interested in the "cafe" part of the experience but maybe not a good idea around some rather rambunctious residents.

Trends change, employees change, owners changes, name changes but the one thing that has always stayed the same is the level of customer service I received every single time I was there. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I went in to browse and was greeted upon entry. I was there for a gift and needed some assistance so the young lady with dark hair came to assist. But instead of getting great customer service, I received a rude employee who refused to let us actually touch and look at things. She said the reasoning was due to the pandemic and she would have to sanitize everything we touched as soon as we left. Ok understandable however would that not fall into her job duties as an employee? If I were that employee and someone was looking to purchase a specific gift for someone special I would have sanitized everything in the place to accomplish two things: 1. Doing a job I'm being paid to do 2. Having that customer leave with a positive shopping experience. THE BONUS........... Repeat Customer! I did end up making a small purchase out of necessity and here we are 2 weeks later and it's broke. Obviously not the quality of products I'm use to purchasing there.
