This trip, we drove a different way to get to the waterpark and happened to pass this playground. OMG! Up until now, the Raleigh (NC) playground has been the most EPIC playground we have been to but we think that this one might have just taken FIRST PLACE!! We were absolutely blown away by the sheer size of this playground! There was so much to do!! The play areas were clustered into different types. There was one for little little ones, another for toddlers, other ones for more adventurous kiddos, etc. Some of the climbing structures were quite high. I went up one and admit as an adult was a bit scared being so high. The other concern I had was with some of the "parallel" bar type climbing things... I thought they looked "dangerous" and indeed, one of our kids fell from maybe 10-12 feet and had the wind knocked out of her. She wasn't hurt hurt but it sure scared her (and me.) I loved that the ground cover was either rubberized mats OR turf. The various drinking fountains scattered throughout helped with keeping us hydrated and cooled us off. The one "negative" is actually due to the sheer size of this place. While I was watching one of my kids, the other went to a different play area and my heart stopped for a bit while I searched for her. She was safe but my mind went to a dark place when I couldn't find her right away. This playground does have restrooms! They weren't in the cleanest condition but it was nice to have them. Prepare yourself in advance for the COLD metal seats. Shockingly icey on a hot summer's day. Again, this is such an amazing playground and I am 100% jealous we don't have anything like this in Houston.

My then-7 y/o son was able to climb 8 feet up a structure for its intended use and jump off "on a dare" by other kids and ended up in the ER. I've also assisted with autistic children that elope and get separated due to the multiple exits. There are also multiple places to have a party, first come first served. This also makes things extra crowded. I haven't been there in a while since the heat, but I am hoping they will maintain a good-sized field because independent play (soccer, football, kite flying, etc.) are just as important as playground structures.

This park is also next to tennis courts or pickleball courts and a water park. Only downside of this place is that it's next to the main street, so it can get noisy at times.

All of us peeps that workout with CG no longer carry our purses or wallets just our DL for several theft happening all over us. I've heard rumors of it possibly being expanded on in the near future but don't know of any concrete details. Pros - Located next to Mountain Creek in Grand Prairie. The course itself has some small hills and decent walks. There is a great view of the lake, but water rarely comes into play (unless you've got some serious wind or just didn't throw the best shot). - The holes are wide open with very few obstacles, so it's a great place to really chunk some discs. - Usually there's not a whole bunch of traffic, especially in regards to other disc golfers. Occasionally there are parties in the pavilion on I believe it's the south side, but not on a regular basis. (Mostly if the weather is pleasant.) Cons - Only nine holes. Not a huge con because you can totally play the round again if you want to get 18 in. - I probably would not come to this park without my husband or some other friends. It's a little sketchy, if you catch my drift. Definitely not once the sun has set. :) - This is a big one and I almost forgot: no signage on the holes. The first time we came, fortunately a friend was familiar and showed us the way. However, I imagine there's a way to pull up the course map through DGCR or Udisc. Will definitely play again!

Out of the four that piqued my interest, this one was first on the list. Looks like there were other trails branching off from the main one, but I stuck with the main walking path. There were benches and informational signs scattered along the route. All of them worthwhile in reading. Unfortunately, I was saddened by how much litter I found. Irresponsible and narcissistic people. Boooo! The Nature preserve was well worth the time spent and effort to drive out here. Check it out!

The best thing about Arlington is all the trees and hills. North Texas is mostly flat and DFW isn't known for its foliage, but there's quite a few spots in Arlington that really feel "far away." There's true hills and canyons and forests and creeks. You can be in the center of the metroplex and still feel lost in the woods. Crystal Canyon is such a spot. This park is so pretty. I appreciate all the little signs that explain the trail and history of the area. Crystal Canyon gets its name from all the crystals (gypsum) to be found in the vicinity, particularly the creek. There's a few beautiful bridges and benches. The hike is fairly short but super scenic and enjoyable.
