The poivre sauce was different than any I had previously tried. Not quite the famously amazing green sauce from Le Relaise de Venice, but different from the typical black pepper variety you usually get. This was clearly a mix of black and green pepper corns. First taste had a hint of juniper and was almost off putting as i tasted a bit soapy. But it tasted great on the steak. By the end of the meal, I was pouring the sauce over bread to eat more of it!!! The only downside was that the fries are not the thin french fries one expect with steak frites. My wife had the mushroom farfalle. Some restaurants will through in a lot of fresh mushrooms, but no mushroom water as it makes it very brown and very dirty looking. But, then it lacks flavor. L'Egoiste clearly used plenty of water from re-hydrating dried mushrooms, and the hearty mushroom flavour had soaked deep into the noodles. It was a very low key, very in expensive, and very delicious. Great for backpackers all the way to couples on a fine dining vacation who just need a break from the fancy food and want something simply tasty.

From A-list celebrities to young and wealthy business owners, Le Club attracts an elite crowd, so I expected the food and and service to be on point. There wasn't anything I would categorize as bad but nothing stood out as exceptional or even great from a food or service perspective. Le Club is right off the beach, so our group headed out for a quick dip in the ocean after brunch. The beach area is really only meant for those who intend to pay for loungers or daybeds, as our group immediately got scolded for setting our things down on the sand. This felt very strange after just spending quite a bit at the restaurant. There's a small boutique between the restaurant and the beach club area, which had some very cute items. I bought a beauitful dress, which I loved finding there. It was wrapped up in a nondescript bag though, which I found odd. A branded tote bag, even for a charge seems much more fitting for this type of boutique. Overall I probably would not opt to visit Le Club again. Although our group did have a good time, it's an over-priced sub-par experience, and there are better day club offerings in the area.

We did just that and really enjoyed our Mussels with fries. Five of us ordered that dish and it did not disappoint. Will worn you that the pot of mussels was twice the size of any steamed mussel dish you'll get in the States. I would probably get an appetizer and share one portion of the mussel and fries. One of us ordered the fish with local vegetable and she really enjoyed it. Location of the restaurant was right on the Marseille harbor, so needless to say the ambiance was great! Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable and really attentive. Overall, we all enjoyed everything about Le Petit Cigale! Enjoy!

Zero flavor, a fish spine was in there, pieces of fish skin. Absolutely terrible. I think because these restaurants are ON the Port, they clearly don't care. To be fair, we chose this restaurant because it's right near our hotel and it's hot and this restaurant has AC! Cold water! Delicious bread- the mussels and fries were wonderful (we had the cream sauce version). I loved my salad- it has burrata and watermelon with chickpeas and a sumptuous dressing. I have never eaten anything like it before, and I loved it. This is a good restaurant with a wonderful view. Oh, and I thought our servers were polite, friendly, and prompt. It was an all around great experience.

Highly recommend you visit Grasse if you find yourself in the French Riviera as it is really interesting to take a tour of one of the factories and see how all the fragrances you can imagine are made into perfumes, soap bars, creams, etc. , but that is a story for another day. This was going to be a quick stop and honestly this area by the port looked beautiful but it felt like a tourist trap if I ever saw one. So we scoped things out, rolled the dice and decided to hit Le Petit Pernod. We were seated quite fast and our server ran down the specials for us. Seemed like there were lots of locals eating there which is always a good sign and seafood seems to be their forte; however, we opted to keep things simple and we enjoyed espressos, lattes and some wonderful French crepes that were off the charts good. Overall we had a great time and they really made us feel welcome as well. Should we find ourselves in the area again we may definitely visit them again. So if you are passing through or just staying a few days in the Marseille area you may want to check them out. Wishing you all a happy and safe time in Marseille! Enjoy and Bon Appétit mes amis!
