Great French meal while our ship was in port. Quick, friendly service. Would return if ever in Cannes.

First evening of the vacation and I couldn't have asked for a better meal. When I got a free…read moreparking spot right near the restaurant, I knew it was meant to be. The prefix is definitely the way to go. Pair it with a nice bottle of wine and you are set. The food was not your standard French fair; it was more of a fusion of different cuisines but they pull it off beautifully. The Socca was cooked perfectly. The melon and prosciutto were a great combination of savory and sweet. But the star of my meal was the Asian inspired beef with noodles; cooked and seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of sauce and saltiness. It was glorious, not much else I can add. For dessert, just get the mousse. Trust me, you won't regret it. Overall, it was a super meal in a great location and with a wonderful staff. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I was initially weary of the fusion concept but it was perfectly executed and really made sense in terms of the this area. French, Italian and Asian cuisine come together in perfect harmony at L'Eponyme. Both hubby and I got the very reasonable 30 Euro prix fix. Appetizers were amazing. The socca layer cake was delicate and flavorful with roasted peppers and cheese holding it together. The melon with prosciutto and mozzarella was simple yet delicious. For our main courses the Cod was perfectly cooked with citrus and herbs to balance out the flavor. Fish was fresh as can be. The beef and noodles dish was a hit, with the juiciest most tender pieces of meat seasoned in a lovely Asian sauce. The accompanying noodles were the perfect texture. Even the dessert was spectacular. I loved my Toblerone mousse. It brought on some nice nostalgia from childhood. The strawberry crumble was heavy on the fresh strawberries and came with an amazing strawberry sorbet sprinkled with a few bits of crumble. This was the perfect meal to start of our vacation in the south of France!

Currently on a…read moretrip around the southern coast of france and it's been quite lovely but also I don't particularly LOVE the food that I've had so I'm curious how it will keep progressing. La Palme d'Or is named after the most famous award for the Cannes Film Festival and is inside the Hotel Martinez. It's honestly a beautiful spot and a tribute to the festival as a whole. I think in 2024 they lost their two michelin stars (couldn't find it on the guide), but in previous years, it was two michelin star place and the way they treat their food is uppercase F fancy. We got the 3 course tasting menu (~$120 euros) which was definitely enough food. I will say, once again also not super wowed which is hilarious that someone else wrote this, especially compared to some other places that I've eaten that are also Michelin quality. The staff is REALLY kind and I will say the dining experience is definitely one of a kind (really fancy, the menus are typeset like scripts, it's just really beautiful). If you're in Cannes and want an uppercase E experience, I definitely recommend (and also booking a reservation in advance) but other than that, if you're someone who loves traveling and good food you can miss it. I will bias by saying that I personally love asian food / flavors and it was pretty lacking overall. The quality of the ingredients are stunning though

And hats off to the owner who literally was the only waiter in the packed little restaurant and was serving the wine, making the espressos, bussing tables, taking orders, making desserts, speaking to each table a bit, having a wonderful attitude, and doing it all in good timing to all the satisfied customers. The chef himself even pitched in with helping serve, totally in sync with the owner. These two amazing guys totally changed my and my wife's perspective about how other restaurants are run - especially when tipping here is more of a courtesy and in the states many restaurants just add 18% on to your bill for gratuity regardless of the service you got. I left the owner just 10 euros and he was so thankful and graciously declined but promised he'd give it to the kitchen staff when we insisted that we just had to appreciate them with a tip. Unreal, awesome, classy, can't wait to return.

I'm afraid people will flock to it, but I have to say how enjoyable it is. Mostly outdoor seating with some internal tables, it is a wine and music place with some food offerings. Over 40 wines available and the owner has picked some great ones. He also curates the music selection which spans from jazz classics to oldies. The food is so honest, tasty and filling, but don't go there for your instagram able food moments. It's food to go with wine. It's all simple and well thought out down to the little glass jar of licorice candies given at the end of the meal. It's mostly a local crowd and can be smoky and loud (which I feel adds to its special character). The owner is the real draw. He and his staff are constantly working, laughing, singing and making you feel like a personal friend. This is a perfect casual and lovely escape from. The tourist traps in Cannes. Le Bouche a l'Oreille is a treasure and will always be a favorite of mine.

We then got the focaccia with goat cheese which was incredible. My friend normally doesn't like goat cheese but she enjoyed the dish very much! We also got the meat of the day which was angus beef and potatoes (with a delicious ranch-like sauce). Finally for dessert we got the chocolate fondant which was really the star of the show-- so warm and gooey and chocolatey! We sat outside and the ambiance was very cozy. Loved it!

We walked from our…read morehotel, the JW Marriott, a lovely 10 minute stroll along the Blvd de la Croisette, then 5 minutes uphill to the Suquet historical area. Located on a narrow, lively street buzzing with small bars and cafés, which is very popular with locals (I assume this because everyone spoke French and it had a neighborhood vibe). Our friendly, server greeted us warmly and spoke very good English. We elected to go with the 37€ prix fixe menu, which included a first course, entree and dessert - each selected from the full menu or daily special. Our wine - a robust, jammy Syrah with a velvet finish - was recommended by our server and came from the nearby Lérins winery on St Honorat Island, where it is made by Monks at the Abbey. It was superb! My first course was one if the specials for the day, a crab ravioli in a delicious sauce that reminded me of a creamy creole sauce without the heat. The spices didn't overpower the delicate flavor of the crab. One of my colleagues started with the fresh lobster salad, which was half of a large, bright red, fresh lobster served alongside some fresh greens & tomatoes. If my raviolis weren't so great, I would have been jealous! Another colleague went with the mozzarella & tomato salad, a nice variation of a caprese salad, but more like a bruschetta minus the toast, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Off to a great start! Entrees didn't disappoint either! Two of us had the rack of lamb and the others had the pasta with seafood. My rack of lamb consisted of 3 ribs of perfectly cooked, medium rare lamb, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a garlicky squash & tomato vegetable sauté that tasted good enough to make me consider becoming a vegetarian. I unashamedly consumed every fabulous morsel on my plate. I refrained from gnawing on the ribs in front of my colleagues, which required considerable restrain. The seafood pasta dish included fresh prawns, mussels & scallops sautéed in garlicky olive oil with herbs and fresh tomatoes. The seafood was fresh, generous and piled on top of a toothy fresh spaghetti pasta. Lone of my colleagues saw the longing in my eye and shared a fat, sweet prawn which was delicious. Round two was fantastic! Lastly came our dessert selections. Two went with the oversized macaroons, which was served with a creamy topping and fresh fruits. They were consumed very quickly, which I took as an indication they were very tasty. Another colleague selected the chocolate layer cake, which was light, moist and came atop a smear of cream and puréed fruit. It looked delicious, but it was a cake. I went with the special tiramisu, served parfait style with fresh berries & cherries and I think some crunchy biscotti crumbs or a better-than-average lady finger. It was without a doubt the best tiramisu I've ever tasted (included those consumed in several trips to Italy!). Our meal, including wine, service charge and tip came to 86€ per person. Definitely worth every penny! Should you find yourself in Cannes, if you are wondering whether or not to give le Marais a try, all I can say is OUI! QUI!!
