During a major surgery I was treated quite well and respect ! The nurses were attentive and made me feel cared for ! The room was cleaned daily! The RNs and practicing staff were very kind always Food isn't great but who knows after surgery! Dr Clarissa Clark and Dr Erin Strong surgeons are excellent! The top floor room was spacious ! Don't want to be in the hospital again but I had great care recovery on this long road! read more

...Went to Sargeant Health Clinic at the end of March 2026 b/c needed to travel out of country ...they aren't transparent when it comes to giving prices/estimates of prices when asked over the phone nor in person. They didn't inform me that there was a consultation fee or how much it would be until I got there in person. I also told them over the phone I was interested in 2 vaccines one for typhoid and one for cholera, they also couldn't tell me. As I was a patient yet...which makes it difficult to see if insurance covers/not. When I was actually w/ the doctor I asked there what the typhoid shot would be (they didn't have the other) she couldn't tell me. I first billed to insurance for the consult which was $350...then before the shot I asked if I could pay out of pocket for that as there's a 45% discount...I had to pay in the same format for both consult & the shot. I went back to to front desk and $350 was charged to me the same price they charged to insurance. I asked if my discount was applied she said yes. For obvious reason this makes no sense. The front desk person wrote down a number for me to call it's an 800# for Cost Estimation. I didn't even know there was a number/dept for this, which was all after the fact. To make a long story short I was billed $512.20 for typhoid, $83.00 for the person to inject the shot, and a facility fee of $158.00...the vaccine alone is way over what the average price. I ended up w/ a bill of $414.26 which is still outrageous...I spoke to cost estimation they did nothing, sent me to billing they also couldn't do anything they actually ref'd me to Customer Relation...what a joke I spent and hour on the phone not helpful at all...could do nothing...not sure why they have the dept...Worst customer relationship I've ever experienced in my life. I sent an email bringing up lack of transparency & not having any clue what price would be I wouldn't have gotten it. I rec'd a letter back..."Final Decision"...per recordings they said I didn't ask about pricing which is not true...they cherry picked what they wanted to fit their narrative. They did admit that I asked the Dr verbally what the price was & wasn't given a price or directed anywhere to where I could get the info beforehand. At the end of the day I was given no compensation at all...this whole experience has been awful, I spent a lot of time on this. I find this whole experience unprofessional, not transparent, and feel insulted. Go else where to get travel info/medicines other places are more transparent. My Chief of Staff was transferred here from the Drexel Square location where they don't have an MRI. She was feeling fine after a stroke scare (it turned out to be just a TIA) but the sending ER physician wanted a neurologist to follow up after the MRI in the morning. Of course I appreciate the caution, but one has to wonder when the bill arrives, was this because we have good medical insurance? We still got a pretty horrifying bill after. But that's not really the worst of it. So we arrived at night, and registration was nice but we were already tired from the long trek from parking. Then we got directed to another location with an odd name that did not describe the overnight stay she was being admitted for. We immediately hit security and we didn't have the passes required to get through, but the registration desk had already closed. A committee meeting of security and we finally got through and were sent unescorted on a very complicated hike. The destination had no signs, we ended up in a locked corridor that only led to outside. We walked around the outside to the Emergency Room where the security officer directed us across the street to a parking lot, to an overhead bridge which led to the same elevator to the same locked corridor as before. We walked outside again, ended up back where we originally started, a new security officer who had to be talked into letting us in and this time we got escorted to the correct destination, which was actually in the locked corridor we were in, the entrance door was labeled with a completely different name that where we were sent, and this strange room was dark and resembled the hospital wards I experienced in the poor Third World nation of Sri Lanka. It was frightening, but now we had marched over a mile with a heavy overnight bag. The two nurses on duty were very good, but needed to be briefed on her case, NOBODY reads "charts" any more so it's up to the patient and family to have a very good knowledge of prior treatment and medical history. The next day, we were relieved to hear that there was nothing to detect, she got sent home with a heart monitor that again had negative findings (whew), leaving the diagnosis of Transient Ischemic Attack. Every new physician and nurse involved, and there were many, had to be briefed on her immediate and pertinent past medical history because NOBODY reads the "chart," and hence she got stuck (literally) with adhesive for the monitor which she's allergic to, and got a bad rash. I did try to tell them, but they don't record these things or don't read the records. Then the bill came, seems an awful lot for 1) a stay in a primitive ward under construction and 2) me doing a lot of their work repeating her history instead of them reading her notes and record. If she did have stroke, the long long walk would have caused her harm. You don't have much choice in hospitals in situations like this, but maybe you'll be forewarned and better prepared this way. read more

My daughter had major abdominal surgery on 2 February 2026. The surgeries went well except for a hole poked in the bladder due to thin wall. After she was transferred to 4th floor pavilion. Then the nightmare started. My daughter's words: No continuous monitoring right after major surgery and being on an opioid. No proper pain meds. No working call light. Did not regularly do my vitals first night. The one time an aid came in he was very rude and did not inform the nurse I requested a bladder scan and pain meds. Did not get me a new call light either. Or ask if I needed anything else. No one cleaned me or checked my incisions. The rounding doctor did for the first time the next morning. My catheter was cleaned one time by an aid named Paige and never again. My iv infiltrated and wasn't offered any other pain meds while waiting to get a new iv placed My pee was all over the floor and again, no one was answering the call light as it was broken and no one came in to check on me even though I was a new surgical patient. I was in extreme pain, my urine went around the catheter and I was sitting in urine soaked pads and no one came. Could have had a blood clot, P.E., hemorrhaging or fall and I had no way to get ahold of anyone. I NEVER received any personal care or a clean gown after urinating all over myself or clean bedding. I had to call the operator to be transferred to the unit. Whoever answered was very rude. Wouldn't tell me their name. I told her I needed help, my call light wasn't working. She stated she was not my nurse in a very snarky tone. I asked to for the house supervisor she said no, there wasn't anyone there. I then asked to speak to the charge nurse and she said she would make some calls, then hung up and never sent help. I eventually texted my step daughter who works in a different area. And informed her I was covered in pee, my foley was leaking all over the floor, I was in extreme pain and no one was answering the broken call light or coming to see what I needed. She came over and then they finally sent someone. Per the surgeon I wasn't given the correct meds the first night out of surgery. I had to request the aid to move my bed to the other side of the room where the call light worked. Although, the pulse ox and thermometer didn't. My family complained, the surgeons complained. The next day HR came, nurse manager, PA. Tried to say this was unacceptable and they would talk to the staff and provide an in service. This hospital should be investigated for patient abuse, neglect, and unsafe conditions. I would strongly recommend that other potential patients run the other way!! read more

Avoid at all costs. I was sent to the Breast Care Center at 8800 W Doyne Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53226 in December of 2025 for a mammogram (that I did not request in the first place, but my PCP -also Froedtert- refused to schedule requested & clinically relevant ultrasound). I was given no prior notice of any type of risks involved with the procedure- though upon telling the technician I bruise easily, that yea, I would leave with bruising. Though the technician "communicated" with me during placement for imaging it was STRICTLY centered around how to stand or move. She never once asked during placement of my body or the paddles if what she was doing was tolerable. She never asked if she could apply additional pressure despite doing so with a pedal on every single image. She asked exactly two times of my well-being: once from behind the screen while taking the first image to which I replied that I was in pain and it hurt, and the second time she asked if was alright as I was experiencing vasovagal response and actively blacking out from the immense pain she caused me. She did not report the vasovagal response until I filed a grievance, though I asked for a copy of the report and still have not received it, so it may have never been filed at all. She, to my knowledge, has lied outright in regards to our communications about the pain she caused me during the procedure, as management followed up with me to state she did nothing wrong despite glaring evidence of failure to meet several protocols clearly outlined. She has caused me permanent disfigurement, and lasting pain to date. I was diagnosed with acute stress disorder from the ordeal and have still not fully recovered from the emotional and physical trauma caused by this breast cancer center. I requested force records with my radiography files and data on 12/9 and to date, nearly a month later, have not received them. If you value your wellbeing in any regard, stay away from this facility. read more

Unlike most of the horror stories in Yelp reviews of this place, my tale is relatively benign. My nephew and i went to visit a mutual friend who had sustained numerous serious injuries in a car accident. We know he'd eventually recover and were careful to avoid a visit too soon after his getting admitted. The creepy experiences started when we got into the packed parking structure with signage that looked like an afterthought. We grabbed the elevator on the fourth floor after a pleasant employee let us know we'd need to go to the second level to access the hospital. There was no signage that suggested we couldn't enter on the fourth floor at the doors clearly leading to the hospital. When we entered the lobby on 2, there were two kiosks on our right, one staffed, the other empty. We walked in, looked around, and saw several hallways accessible only through glass doors requiring an ID card. We went back to the silent person we had just passed, who directed us to a winding line waiting for access. Once there, we waited at a station where someone only visible from the eyes up said "hello," but continued to talk to the staff person on her left. She paused again to say "hello," before talking to the staff on her right. The next time she spoke, she seemed put out that we had not yet given her our ID cards which she had not asked for. After taking our photos, she printed our badges and instructed us to keep them on. Of course, when we started on our maze to the N elevators, we had to remove the badges we just put on in order to access the locked doors. Fortunately there was another friendly staff person on the elevator, because the card reader to access our desired floor didn't accept our IDs. When we got to the floor, we again had to be buzzed in. At yet another station we were given the green light to see our friend. We were told to take two lefts, and we were warned that the room numbers were hard to find because they were over the doors, nearly at the ceiling. Well, it turned out we needed to take two rights, and we looked stupid staring at the ceiling when the room number was on the door at eye height. After a great visit with our friend, we felt assured he was okay. We again entered the maze, this time needing to wave a hand at a button that opened the door. In the elevator, we noticed another weird option referring to kayaks and canoes. Fortunately we were able to help two other folks who were lost. As we walked with them, we also saw signs pointing to Elevators ABCDEGHI...that's right, what happened to Elevators F! Back in the lobby, we found the way to the garage, right past the gift shop that is closed on weekends. We found the sea shell floor and my car. Once we got past the exit that was closed, we circled the building again, finally arriving at two green traffic lights. With absolutely zero indication, this was the exit. Then, maybe twenty feet ahead on the right, there was a sign saying exit here. Three things really stood out for us. First, if we needed medical care or were upset about someone we were visiting, this place would be way too disorienting to handle. Second, the architects and planners of this place have created a nightmare, even for able bodied people. Third, because of the first two items, you cannot count on lucking out to find helpful staff to guide you. Now, before someone from Froedtert responds by apologizing for my experience as they do throughout these Yelp reviews: Don't waste your breath. It is not my experience for which you should apologize, but for your indifference, poor design, and ill management. read more

I used to think Froedtert was the best hospital in the state. I would love to continue to think that but as time has passed, things have changed. Moving patients from the emergency room to a bed on a unit should not take all day. The patient is taking up ER space which is likely backing up or causing problems with rooms for ER patients. I don't have the answer but that needs to be looked at and addressed. It's a serious matter and years ago it was 2 hours. Now it takes 24 hours. We'd love to have the confidence in our main "trauma" hospital, but if family members have serious heart conditions and go there and then sit in the ER waiting for a bed along with 30 other patients for 12 plus hours after being "admitted", I don't feel confident in the care they're receiving nor do I feel confident that anyone else walking in needing care can get it because they may be taking up a needed ER bed. read more

I am absolutely heartbroken. Of all the horrible things that can come from entering a hospital....I was finally coming to visit for a joyous occasion! I took off work to come see my cousin's new baby(we've done everything in life together and are very close, this was such a momentous blessing) BUT I was turned away because they said Covid visiting restrictions were still in place. I literally cried. 4 people for the entire hospital stay??! She had a c section with complications and I can't believe they wouldn't let me come to support her. I didn't get to see her or the baby until a week later. She said she felt isolated and it just makes me so sad to think that at such a vulnerable time in her life she couldn't have her family there for support. read more

Absolutely pathetic! I've been dealing with balance issues for the past year and a friend suggested I go to Froedtert for diagnosis. What a mistake! I've gone back and forth from Appleton to Milwaukee on numerous occasions and the neurologist there tells me she doesn't know what's wrong with me and then offers absolutely no recommendations or follow up! Her name is Dr. Choek and should be Dr. Joke. Any and all labs or imaging I feel I need I have to suggest or ask for! They are not proactive and they simply don't care. I've had almost nothing but good experiences at Froedtert. Last time I came in through the ER at their beautiful Drexel clinic. I was blown away by the kindness and skill of the staff. I had to be transferred to the main hospital for inpatient treatment, where I've been treated several times over the years for problems varying in type and severity. I'm writing this from my room right now, appreciating the ministrations of many diverse, insightful, caring medical professionals. I even liked the Rabbi from Spiritual Services, and I'm not Jewish. The only criticism I have is that I'm not crazy about some of the in room dining choices, but not enough to dock a star. I've been to several of their outpatient clinics as well: Oak Creek/Drexel is outstanding, the new on-campus Center for Advanced Care is beautiful. I go there for PT and nephrology and have stayed in the inpatient unit there as well. I would never go anywhere else anymore. read more

Went to ER today because I've been playing pass the buck for last 4 months of going to specialist, being passed back to another specialist to be told to go back to that specialist and today was extreme pain and one side of my body is swollen. I have symptoms of possible RA or MS. Had only a pituitary MRI never a brain MRI. ER visit today just put a pulseox and blood pressure. Cuff and said there was nothing they could do. In and out in 15 minutes, including wait time. Worse treatment ever. The doctor didn't even do a full neuro workup, just touched my face, had me rub my leg up and down the other leg and said they can't do anything. In 4 months I have been tossed back and forth back to same 3 specialist offices and back to primary, at neuro last week- the minute the resident walked in-he stated they can't work on the numbness and tingling, joint point, just the tremors because I was misscheduled and they were Parkinson's doctors. At the ER today not only did they not do an exam- they lied on mychart and claimed they did an exam by filling out like the abdominal part, heart rate, they didn't even have me change nor did they even use a stethoscope. I pointed out ny swollen ankle and fingers and it was we can't do anything. ER claimed I had a brain MRI and I did not, it was a pituitary not brain but by reading notes, one could see that. The one doctor I had earlier this month tried to order meds for a procedure that isn't ordered for another year from now and the meds for that procedure is stated in my records that I'm allergic too. The triage nurse who said I should go to ER today literally told me to take a hot bath after she straight up lied about the ER having test they could run as I was stumbling with brain cognitive issues, also told me to just wait it out. Can't see rheumatologist until end of next month and can't get into neuro until Sept and it's only March, in the meantime I may have MS, RA and by waiting-it's doing damage to my body that can't be repaired. I have placed multiple calls to patient advocacy to get no where-they don't return calls at all. I have called several numbers for them including the medical college and nope, no return calls, all you get is voicemail for any of the advocates. It's been almost a week from neuro disaster and nothing. read more

They gave my son too much radiation and it left him unable to stand up or walk. They have not even apologized! They ruined his life.

The hospital is very short staffed and they have ICU nurses working in the medical surgical areas- There seems to be confusion during care because the nurses working on the medical floors are not trained in that area. I do not feel as though I am getting the best care. Can we ask a housekeeper to go work in the lab and expect they will know what to do without any training? This is bad care. read more

Emergency Room visit June 2024. I was brought in via Ambulance to West Bend Froedtert hospital and waited in waiting room for 5.5 hours, vomiting and in severe pain. Nurse Heidi attempted to be professional, but came across extremely rude, bossy, and inconsiderent of my family. I sat in a wheelchair, needing to lay down. Security was the only caring people to attempt to find a way for me to put my head down. Once seen, the physician was very kind and professional. Hours later I was released, and a nurse asked who was going to push the wheelchair to the exit???? my son did her job! Nearly, $10000.00 later. No one followed up on my condition. I've worked in heathcare over 40 years, and have never witnessed such poor care and compassion. West Bend will never be my choice for Emergency care. read more

what a nightmare!!! My wife broke her wrist. After an hour of moaning in pain she gets it in a position where is tolerable and some girl comes in grabs her arm pulls it, flips it upside down and walks out without a word. My wife goes back to screaming in pain. Some how, I stupily scheduled an appointment there. I left plenty early, but got stuck in a long line of cars in the parking garage, walked all over trying to find the place, got to check-in at 1:08 for my 1:00 appointment and was told the nurse practitioner couldn't see me because she was already with another patient. Also, I did the pre-check-in on m phone app so she new I was on the way. read more

My wife was vomiting profusely so I took her to our local hospital in Watertown and they said they needed to send her to the UW Hospital or Froedtert instead. We asked to go to the UW since my wife was treated for pneumonia there so they had her records already but Watertown ignored our request and sent her to Froedtert. I won't delve into the horror show that ensued at Froedtert but my wife died there and I 100% believe that if she would have been at the UW Hospital, she would be alive today. My life essentially ended that day. I lost my wife/best friend and my life is empty and meaningless without her. When I asked for my wifes things, I noticed thet her wedding ring and the necklace I gave her for our 5th anniversary were missing. Froedtert staff insisted that she was not wearing them which was a blatant lie. I was with her from morning to night every day that she was there and she never took them off. To this day I would like to believe that no one would be so despicable as to steal these irreplaceable items from her body and I have no proof that this happened but these items are gone so I will leave it at that. Occum's Razor would support my theory. My complaints and search for answers have been met with deaf ears. read more

I sat in the waiting area for over 3 hours, and there were people sitting there waiting that were there before me...still waiting. Believe it or not, there were people slumped over in chairs moaning. The nurses have an "I don't care" attitude and stand around joking, laughing and eating. Not to mention that they look very shabby and unkept. Whenever anyone would ask about how long before they would be seen, the answer was always the same..."We don't have any available rooms." This emergency room is totally outdated and in serious need of being renovated. With all the constant building that Froedtert does on this campus, they need to put some attention to their emergency room. Three hours is way too long to make people wait who are sick and in pain. I went in for a work injury I was crushed and felt severe pain in my chest they told me my ribs were bruised and let me go with no restrictions. I went back to work lifting 150lb boxes for 3 days while in horrendous pain felt like I was having a heart attack to go back to the urgent clinic and be told your rib is fractured. Im now I'm serious pain and seem to not get any help. I'm now thinking switching hospitals and primary care doctors and avoiding froedtert all together. read more

Their visiting policies are horrible. They allow only 4 people at a time which is understandable but it has to be the same 4 people the whole stay. My mother in law was very I'll. She ended up in hospice where they upped the visitors to 5 at a time and 10 people. We have a large family. That excludes about half the family. She is dying. Everyone wanted to see her. The nurses were wonderful and did their best. Ultimately everyone got to see her after a lot of begging. I understand this policy if we were still in a pandemic but we aren't. read more

My daughter has a rare disease that causes nonstop vomiting at times. We checked into Froedtert at about 1:30am she was very dehydrated and in a lot of pain. They took her back for her triage and drew some blood didn't put a Band-Aid on the site that they attempted one of the sticks, She came out by me with some blood welling up on her arm I went up to the desk and asked for a Band-Aid and the nurse ( who was very young) looked at me and said in a moment, you don't have to stand here I'll bring it out to you snotty as hell. Another person walked up to the same nurse and asked her how long the wait was gonna be, she said well it's over four hours you've only been here an hour so I don't know what else to tell you. My daughter was in severe pain so we decided to leave. And I did not leave without expressing my not so nice statement about how rude a two of the nurses were. I have been a loyal patient of Froedtert for 25 years. After being diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea I was issued a cpap and have used it diligently for 20 plus years. I was told that OSA was a potential life-threatening condition and that I needed to use the cpap every night, so I did so. Last Friday my cpap motor died so I right away called my doctor and he sent a message to froedtert telling them it was urgent that I get in to see a respiratory technician, so I called them to set up an appointment. I was told that the next appointment was in late November, over three months away. I told them that it was urgent, they didn't care. I asked if they could send me to someone who could repair the unit and they said no. I was able to go around Froedtert and buy my own cpap, but I will never return to a hospital that doesn't care if its patients live or die. read more

WORST ER VISIT EVER. I have not been to a lot of Emergency Rooms. But this occasion tops the list... and not in a good way. The doctor assumed I was there for drug seeking behavior (after his four minutes of asking me questions) and ignored my request for relief. I called to issue a complaint and I was sent a letter dismissing my concerns. I want that job!! Listen to complainers...nod and say "yes, I hear your complaint"...a lot. Then send out a letter stating she's taking the hospitals "side". What was the point? They all want you to blow smoke up their corporate asses telling them what a great job they're doing. They do not want to hear about snafus within the system then make attempts to improve their services. I'd love to see me on one of those billboards stating my negative experience. read more

Oncology, metastasized squamous cell tongue and lung cancer. My husband was told he was accepted in a very promising clinical trial for his type of cancer. He started with radiation of the tongue area, and then waited to be in the trial. We had filled out all the necessary paperwork at the very beginning, but then just three days before starting the trial, we were asked to sign the same paperwork. That same day, we had our "learning' session of what drugs my husband would be receiving, how often, etc. We were to begin treatment just two days later. The following evening, Dr Wong called us to tell us that my husband, "was thrown out" of the clinical trial due to some marker being slightly off. Made no sense in that the company running the trial had all of his samples for two months, and we were told that he was accepted. Remarkably, the girl that was in charge of submitting the application was leaving Froedtert THAT week. Subsequently, my husband was given the usual drugs for approx. 8 weeks and the cancer was not progressing. However, he did not receive any additional treatment for three months, as we waited for, as yet, another clinical trial to come out. One did with the same company he was originally accepted for, Phase Two, but even though I wrote and called about my husband getting into this trial, nobody got back to us until weeks later, we were told, that the Trial had been filled. We believe that mistakes were made in this department that eventually caused my dear husband to pass around Thanksgiving. No further treatment was given to my husband.
