The Jail Tree https://share.google/Fz0n196FKvWbaQkQ5 Hi Guys just thought I'd share a short day trip yesterday to Wickenburg a little over an hour from Brenda Arizona. What a great little Historic Western Town. The jail tree was just one of the things to see in the Old Town part of Wickenburg. We were so impressed with the great old restaurants also. I'll post later where we had the Very Best Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast We both have ever had. For those that have never ventured up the 60 to Wickenburg you should treat yourself and enjoy a visit. Loretta and I are looking forward to our next visit.

There are murals and quite a few cafes & restaurants, shops, and museums to venture to. When I found this spot, there was a small parking lot right in front of the tree area. It is blocked off for traffic. It looks like a coffee vender has a food cart parked there. It was closed by the time we were there. There is parking close by. The tree looks like it's been there for a loooong time. It is interesting to see this man sitting on the ground, chained to the tree. There is a recording of the story and with a push of the button (it is working again) you can hear a tale. This stop has a Knotts Berry Farm feel to it. It's always fun to look for something new or unique. This stop is fun. It doesn't take long to check it out, & take a pic. When you take your next road trip and you find yourself in the area, Check it out!

There is a side gate you can enter from the fence. It's extraordinary seeing the Joshua Trees and being able to trek around the desert. It's a great place to take pictures and admire nature.

We started our hike early in the morning and I would definitely recommend not starting late morning/early afternoon as it will take you some time if you stop to read all the placards and take the journey trail down to the actual memorial site where the firefighters lost their lives. Bring lots of water and sunscreen and be prepared for a 5+ hour trip in and out. The trail is well maintained and groomed, but it is still challenging and long, but well worth the effort. Parking is also very limited so check ahead to see if shuttles are running from the town of Yarnell. Once you get to the starting point there are two large porta potties that are also meticulously clean.

I had the privilege to stay at the campground of the 1899 Historic Hotel just last month with SOTF…read more Pat at the front office was so kind and patient with my calls and questions. When I finally arrived, I was greeted by Pat. She showed me where I would be stationed with my teardrop trailer. The campground is right on the HWY 60 so you will get a lot of traffic noise and train traffic. Because I arrived late (2pm) instead of 10 am a few openings were all towards the back of the campground. I thought it would be a bad thing but it helped a bit with the noise, although the noise didn't bother me much anyway. Each camping spot had a spigot. I was in an area that was part gravel and dirt. The Historic Hotel has great history! What I found fascinating was the hotel was moved from its original spot to across the street, I believe in the 1940's. There are a few rooms upstairs and believe it or not the bar salon was originally upstairs. The wood upstairs is mostly all original and some windows as well.

In 1905 the land was donated and this Schoolhouse built and named after Don Ignacio Garcia who the called the father of Wickenburg Education. Today you'll find pictures and written histories of its time as well as a replica of what it was like inside in the early 1900's. Unfortunately it was closed today, it's Monday. The schoolhouse is open Tuesday through Saturday.

The tour guide Joseph was so kind and full of energy. The video you watch when you get there is a very heart felt explanation of the passion to continue this community. They own 800 acres and the property is built on 20 acres, it was built between 1971-1975 for the main spaces that are shared. 45 people live there but could range to 80. They show how the products and structure are made. I had no clue about silk casts and loved the hands on understanding and history. They have concerts, events, gatherings. Etc at the amphitheater. Check out the website. The cafe is closed. You can stay as a hotel guest overnight. They offer apprenticeship also.

Clearly what the original architect had in mind many years ago never came to fruition as it really hasn't changed in years. Is appears to be a small artist community but we didn't see anything going on at the moment so couldn't tell if it id still active or they make everything south in Scottsdale at Cosanti. There is a gift shop where you can watch a brief video on the history and learn about their wind chime creations. Personally I've received many of the wind chimes over the last 20 years for housewarmings or Christmas gifts. Each is unique. The greeter in the gift shop was friendly and stated there is a tour available as well. We didn't have time for the tour but purchased a couple of small gifts. He suggested visiting the Scottsdale location as well which is called Cosanti. I had no idea it was located in Scott's well. Will check it out.

TBH, everyone we interacted from booking to checking in for the tour and beyond was kind and helpful. It was neat getting to see a different side of the park. The jeep was comfortable and let us see a lot of different views. It was nice having guidance for the different viewing spots that we wouldn't have thought to go to on our own. Definitely would highly recommend for someone visiting the GC!

The guide provided great background and information. This tour was on hard roads so no bumps. The best thing about the tour is that it gave a good overview for exploring on your own later.

We booked the Antelope Canyon and Grand Canyon Horsebend tour from Sedona. We were ready for a…read morelong day since the drive to Page was about three hours. They picked us up from our hotel, made several stops including clean bathroom breaks and couple gift shops. Overall, the tour was amazing. Although we only spent 45 minutes at a horseshoe Bend, we were able to take some awesome pictures and walk around. But definitely the highlight was Antelope Canyon. You can only go on a tour here with the Navajo guide and our guide Ray was fantastic. We spent about 1.5 hours at lower Antelope Canyon. He really made the tour fun, informative, and he took the best pictures. The photos do not do it justice. The experience was just unreal. Each term that we took we were in awe. The downside was our tour guide Brandon. Although he was very friendly, he didn't seem that knowledgeable. Maybe he was having an off day but there were a couple times that he stopped mid sentence while telling a fact and even ended a fun fact with blah blah blah to finish up his sentence. At one point, he even started chewing on a candy or something while hooked up to the microphone. This was really annoying. We still had a very great day just a couple things that didn't make it a five star experience. Did you have a lot of options for tours and their office is located centrally in the uptown area.
