I would highly recommend getting a riverside site if possible. Extremely nice park and staff. The rate was $395.00 for the week. A fair rate for this area. Thirty minutes to Surprise; 40-45 minutes to Phoenix. Lots of good food for eating out. Several fuel stations nearby.

Very quiet park but very accommodating…read more They have a 24/7 room with laundry available, couple bathrooms, small tv with dish hookup, huge dvd selection, tons of books, couple board games, few puzzles and a couple exercise equipment. The property has small rocks throughout property but they did not allow a wood fire :( it was soooo cold! But we understand. There is a small gold course at the entrance of the park. It was fun playing it at night. The owner added lights specifically for the golf course and a little fountain. The attention to detail was there. There is a small dog park that is gated but meant for big dogs. Small dogs will walk right through the posts. We stayed here for a night and when we went to turn on our diesel bus, it wouldn't turn on. We eventually found out our gas filter froze overnight due to the elevation probably because we've stayed in colder places. So if you're staying here bring extra fuel help. We had added additive to help it from gelling but wasn't enough. Make sure to bring 911 something to help start it. We're definitely buy it. Owner very helpful and answered even tho New Year's Day.

I have camped in Prescott before, but never at this lake. I had heard great things about Lynx Lake…read moreand have always wanted to check it out. This lake was formed in the 1960s when they dammed Lynx Creek. It is stocked for fishing and has a campground and hiking trails around it. There are lots of animals that are native to this area like mule deer, osprey and bald eagles. I booked a campsite here during the summer because I own a kayak and wanted to get out on the water. After setting up my site, I headed over to Lynx Lake. I was a little disappointed to see the water so low. I guess in late 2024, the lake was partially drained to fix a mechanical failure in the dam's outlet valve. It has to rely entirely on natural rain and snow to be refilled and could take years to get back to normal. So we just did a hike around the lake and headed back to our campsite. Lynx Campground has around 35 campsites with a picnic table, fire ring and a grill at each site. There are no RV hook-ups, but they do have drinking water and toilets. The campsite is about half a mile directly south of Lynx Lake. We enjoyed our campsite and had a fun time. We had to partially share our site with another family because their giant tent spilled onto our site (which was annoying). But we made the most of it. The nice thing is that the Town of Prescott isn't too far away if you need any food or supplies. As for kayaking, we were able to do that over at Watson Lake. You can book a campsite ahead of time on Recreation.gov.

I've been to Lynx Lake a few times, and this recent visit was pretty similar to my past…read moreexperiences. I'm giving it a 3-star review mainly because the lake has recently been drained and they want it to refill naturally, so it's unclear when water levels will return to normal. There is also a $5 day-use fee to enter the park. You can pay cash or card. Currently, the park opens at 7:00 AM and the gates close at 5:00 PM. The trail around the lake is about 2.5 miles and offers a few different routes, including at least one path that leads to a small waterfall (or what would be a waterfall if the lake wasn't drained). The west side of the lake is more paved and level, making it easier for walking, while the east side is more rugged with a dirt trail. One thing to add, the bathrooms were clean, but they had smell in them was hard to ignore and really unpleasant. Overall, it's still a nice area for a casual walk around the lake, especially if you're in the area.

This trail area just north of Wickenburg is an undiscovered gem for winter to spring hiking. You…read morewill need a high clearance vehicle for the last 1.5 miles which may be why it is less travelled. Sophie's Flat is a 6 mile loop trail that is mostly flat though you will work your legs hiking across the first mile of the trail through the sandy wash. High top boots are recommended to keep the sand out of your socks. If you do the loop counter clockwise, you will start on trail A though the wash which is a geologists dream with a variety of veined granite, some with iron nodules and hunks of red jasper. As you walk out of the wash, views of the surrounding hills covered with cholla, ocotillos and saguaros appear and volcanic outcrops are also visible. On the entire loop we only ran into one other small group of hikers and this was at prime time on a Sunday in February. ATVs and horses will likely be in the area but the hiking trail is separate from the ATV path, though you will cross the path twice. I would highly recommend this trail during spring wildflower season or later in April on a cool day when the cactus are flowering.

The trail is mostly paved, easy to follow, and packed with beautiful desert scenery. Once you reach the end, the real adventure begins. Climb the stone steps, scramble carefully over the boulders, and explore the waterfall area. During certain times of the year, you may even find water collected in the pool below. Be sure to look up! There are two additional natural pools tucked into the rocks above your head, with plants growing along the cliffs and birds making themselves right at home. Keep watch for the local hawk that loves to perch dramatically on top of a nearby saguaro cactus. The true treasures of this trail are the ancient petroglyphs created by the Hohokam people. Many can be seen inside the protected, marked areas, but sharp-eyed explorers may spot even more etched into the surrounding rocks. They are incredible reminders of the people who lived in this desert long before us. I take nearly every visitor we have on this hike, no matter the season. It is one of my favorite places to show off the beauty, history, and adventure of Arizona! There are bathrooms and picnic tables near the trailhead, so pack some water, bring a picnic, and make a day of it!

It becomes more secluded as the houses fade and you are left along with a baron forest and lots of gas wells. As you approach the locked gate, you are met by your wonderful hosts, Jason and Porscha. They then take you down to a hidden oasis tucked deep in the trees and overlooking Navajo Lake. Here you will find everything you need for a weekend of glamping. They have a very comfortable hang out area with big cushy chairs and a bar. They have a full bathroom with running water and hot showers. The tents were much bigger than I expected and very cozy. Additionally, Porshca went above and beyond and left us a little anniversary gift and note. The added touch was extremely appreciated and so thoughtful. There are lots of areas to kick back and read a book, meditate or do some yoga. Jason took us on a tour of the area and then we went down to the lake and did some paddleboarding. It was my very first time and so fun. We came back and had dinner. You can bring your own stuff to eat or they also provide dinner. They have a grill and kitchen area where you can cook and eat. The day flew by and it was time for our hot baths. I was so excited about this all day and it didn't disappoint. I had the Champagne Citrus and my husband opted for the basic bubble bath. They had us setup in the "Nest", which is a private area that overlooks the lake. We watched the sun go down while soaking and listening to the birds chirp before seeing the moon come up and a serene quiet was upon us. We sat in the tubs for almost 2 hours just visiting and enjoying nature. The champagne bath was unbelievable. I could smell the citrus upon walking up to it. It made my skin feel so good by the end of it. The next morning they had a great breakfast ready to go. Next time, we will come with some of our closest friends. It truly is a hideaway that allows the stresses of the world to disappear for a few days.

So, we made our way back up to the upper lake, where bait is permitted. The upper lake was fairly crowded and a bit noisy (sound really carries there), but it's a beautiful spot overall--small, peaceful, and scenic. We stayed for about two hours, didn't catch anything, but did spot a few fish swimming around. Still a pleasant visit!
