Things I buy here include: - organic Greek olive oil - I bring my own refillable glass jar (year round) - seedling organic and heirloom plants in the spring (spring to mid-late summer) - organic produce (year round, but bigger selection in the summer) - delicious veggie rotis made to order (year round) - vegan chocolate from ChocoSol (mostly summer now) - preserves + jams (year round) - Forbes Wild Foods maple syrup and other wild foraged foods like sea asparagus and fiddelheads in the spring, nuts in the fall and other goodies. They're at the market year round. - wildrice (fall) - fresh seasoned tofu bites or nigari tofu from Ying Ying Soyfood (year round) - local wild blueberries and raspberries (summer) - bread baked in the community oven in the park (bread is year round) - vegan soup or pizza slice from the market cafe (year round) - a tofu burger or tempeh dog from vegan BBQ Brixton Grill (summer) It's not a huge market, but I can generally buy most things I need for the week there and fill in the blanks at a grocery store. It's a lot nicer when it's outdoors in the summer and early fall. In the summer, there's no shortage of earth mothers gathering to chat while their free-range children run partially clothed through the park. Considering that the market takes place during normal working hours, it's no surprise that you'll find mostly alternative lifestyle folk lingering and enjoying themselves. It's a great place to people watch on a nice day. The market runs from 3pm-7pm every Thursday of the year. There is no street parking off of Dufferin St., but you can usually find spots if you go down Gladstone from Bloor or park at Dufferin Mall. However, this is really the sort of market you should walk, bike, and take transit to. It's one bus stop/block south of Dufferin Station so it's very accessible. Don't forget your re-useable grocery bags, last week's berry cartons and paper bags.

They have fresh Ontario grown veggies that change seasonally. They have honey and beeswax, a fish vendor, frozen meats like elk and caribou. Sometimes there are local artists there, selling their art. Everything's organic, always the freshest. I love their rosemary loaf of bread. We just got some yummy pear cider from a vendor located in Milton. The prices are a little high, but everything's local and organic so it`s worth it.

Some of the stands aren't actually from farms (from what I hear) but just people that buy large quantities of produce and go to market to sell it. I didn't buy anything from those guys. I DID, however, buy from a bunch of different families/farmers. It was so wicked cool! I was really overwhelmed by the size of the setup and the number of stands. I most appreciated the guys that offered samples of their fruits and veggies. In fact, I wound up just saying "yes" to buying everything they fed me as I took each euphoric bite. I'm not gonna lie... not all of the vendors are very friendly. I actually felt that the majority were not so. That was a bit of a letdown. But I spent enough time passing through the lanes and chatting with a handful of people that I still had a warm and welcoming experience. The market is open Friday and Sunday from about 7 or 8 am until about 4 or whenever they pack up and will run to October. I know where I will be doing my shopping for the next couple of months!

I am a big fan of Dufferin Grove and found this one to be right up to par, with a lot of the same smiling faces and many new supplies to meet! It was the eve of Thanksgiving Monday. I ended up picking up some sunchokes, fresh dill and blue oyster mushrooms from a fabulous mushroom man. There are a great variety of booths and you can get many hot items too, so it would just be a great place to stop by for a good snack or dinner. The piece de resistance? Upon walking up to Oakridge's Finest booth, I saw pumpkin pie! We locked eyes and the man said, "My wife baked these this morning and these are my last two pies". SOLD. sold. sold. My friend picked up the second last one. He held onto them for us while we continued our shopping. And that, my friends, is why farmer's markets are the best.

I had parked across from East Lynn Park to attend a couple of businesses as part of a work event. When we walked from an escape room to a cafe, we walked past the park and I noticed tents being set up. This activity was taking place at around 2:30 pm. My colleagues and I had spent nearly 2.5 hours at this cafe. When we all disbanded, I headed back to my car and cut through this park. I found out that it has a farmers' market every Thursday from 3 - 7 pm. I was extremely happy! I got momos from Napalese Momo. Staff had already made them in advance and simply needed to steam them. I was advised that it would take four minutes. I got a mixed assortment of momos and they were delicious. The hot sauce is like a four-alarm fire in your mouth. You have been warned! Jiggy Popz is there every other week. I managed to get handcrafted popsicles made with natural ingredients. I had the sweet cherry immediately and it was divine. The man who makes them with his partner said that it is work to take the stems and pits out, before pureeing them. I can imagine, which is why it was my first choice. I also had Jann Arden's song, Cherry Popsicle, in my head as I enjoyed this popsicle in my car. I polished off my last one, the pineapple. They make yummy popsicles. I noticed that Stock and Trade was next to Napalese Momo. I picked up the best chicken stock from this store a few months ago. It was offering some yummy sandwiches. It's is a local butcher shop, but it makes fantastic sandwiches. I wanted one, but the momos had won me over. Next time! I love an unexpected find. I definitely want to check out the rest of the vendors next time. I look forward to returning on Thursdays specifically for the farmers' market. (301)

This year the vendors are all down at the bottom of the hill - completely invisible from the danforth. In the old location there was plenty of space so you could quickly peruse the goods, make some purchases and hop back on the bike. Now you've got to walk a gantlet that is chalk-a-block with people who want to give you balloon animals, etc. I think it's great that the market is a community hub, but if it's not going to be first and foremost a market, it's not going to attract farmers. Why is DECA (a very worthy community group) occupying the stall nearest to the danforth while the only vendor who is selling actual produce has the very last stall at the far end of the park? I hope this market will return to its former glory.

The market is not huge,…read morethey have an outdoor part selling some plants and herbs in pots, and inside there's a great assortment of fresh herbs, vegetables, some fruits, beans, eggs, pastries, honey and jam. The market is obviously popular as there were many customers during my visit. I found some fruits are more expensive but most vegetables are reasonably priced. Since it's not far away from home, I'll always come back for its organic produce.
