Rather, it's like Target is to Targét when we are trying to be fancy. So that's Rubel as in "Roo-bell." Unlike modern-day construction, Rubel Castle wasn't built overnight. It was made of collected recyclables and construction rubble that spanned many decades and took several friends and volunteers to build it. For Michael, however, the lifetime inspiration was first sparked at the age of 9. His love for canons was where it started and the rest is history you can hear about on the tour. But don't just show up like we did randomly one day. Built in the castle period of wood and tin, every corner captured our interests, from antique cars to the 1890's Seth Thomas Tower Clock with a unique backstory (and only six in existence today). There were old vending machines, tools, trinkets, and machinery that time had long forgotten. Did I mention there was a drawbridge? Yes, and a dungeon too. I was just waiting for a dragon to come swoop down on us next. Walk in the footsteps of famous visitors like Alfred Hitchcock, Dwight Eisenhower, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope. It's a feast for the eyes no matter where you glance. I particularly enjoyed the bottle house that Michael built in 1968 as his "home" as a kid. That independent spirit was quite charming to see. ~ WATERCOLOR NATURESCAPE ~ We were fortunate to have our gracious host lead us on a tour and organize a special art crafting experience outdoors. It was absolutely lovely beneath the trees and between rusted vintage cars from the turn of the century. We each got a small canvas to paint our flowers in watercolor. (This particular experience takes place in the Spring and Fall, weather permitting.) We heard the squirrels rattling in the leaves and birds chirped and sang in the trees above. We discovered that peacocks apparently originated from this property, compliments of Michael Rubel. And did I mention that on the far side of the property, a custom garden was in full bloom? We were spoiled and treated like VIPs throughout. Highlights include: Temples - so many Buddhist temples, beautiful and unique. Elephant sanctuary - A highlight! Up close and personal with these majestic creatures. We walked with them, made and fed them medicinal treats. Tuk Tuk tour - a VIP tour of the streets of Chang Mai. So fun and enjoyable. Hotels resorts - beautiful, elegant and top service including massages and buffet breakfasts. Food - Supera goes out of their way to handpick local specialties that most tourists don't know about. The food was unique and delicious. A real treat. Transportation - buses, longboats, flights - all handled for us, including all luggage transfers. Our tour guide Betty Tsai. What a pro! She's the perfect mix of organization and keeping it fun. Her attention to detail kept us moving smoothly through the trip. The instructions to get there can look a bit complicated bc there's just so much info? but literally you can just find the meetup spot on Google Maps now if you look up 'Rowher Flat OHV'. You'll eventually go off roading and fair warning, it is quite bumpy. Low profile vehicles aren't recommended, and you'll see why lol. I wanted to be careful and drive slower on the road haha and luckily the road was not busy at all! After making it up to the meetup spot, it's definitely a very quiet and peaceful area. It's nice to experience away from the busy city life. We were on time to our tour, but we wanted to make it out earlier since there was some time needed for prep. Our tour guide, Sagi (?), was super chill and a cool guy! I had no ATV experience whatsoever but I am so thankful for having him to guide us haha. During the ATV ride, we did request a "beginner/easy" path, but the route he took us was actually pretty challenging lol but very fun! It was basically like an obstacle course, but good mix of flat, bumps, inclines/declines, roundabouts, and I feel like we got to experience it all within an hour! Weather was also perfect during the time we went as well, just wore long sleeves and a vest. An hour was more than enough for this experience. (I'm an adrenaline junkie; I've gone skydiving, love rollercoasters, kayaking, parasailing, scuba diving etc.) Other members in party's ATV experience: 2 members have gone on a 2 hour ATV ride in Mexico, 1 member in my party had no ATV experience but has rode motorcycles in the past. Occasion for trip/Cost: I bought 4 ATV rider tickets for a 1 hour session for my boyfriend's birthday. Total cost came out to: $476.00. Location: The mountain area in Santa Clarita. The directions are VERY clear in their email that they send. If you click on the link DIRECTLY SENT TO YOU in your email, you'll get there no problem if you use the Google Maps app. They have the link. They have a YouTube video showing you how to get there too. I didn't lose cell reception not once getting there. I took a CAMRY HYBRID to get there and there is a dirt road for quite some time before you get to the location where you park. Date went: 10/11/25 at 9:00am. Weather was PERFECT. It was 74F degrees. It was sunny, but cool. Did not need a jacket. Just wore a dark t shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Heads up: You won't have opportunities to take picture or videos of your own during the ride. The guide will take photos for you and send them to you via email during the ride. You will be asked if you want to buy insurance prior to the ride in case any damages happen. You have the option to decline. Make sure you sign the waivers prior to check in. *****You will have to bring IDs of the members going and the card used for payment for check in. Actual ride: I was instructed to ride right behind the instructor given that I had no prior ATV experience. Our guide, Jackson, was very friendly and considerate throughout the whole experience and informed the rest of the party that the speed of the ride would go based off me since I'm the beginner. Jackson consistently looked back at our party to make sure none of us were falling behind, had to stop once to fix another member from getting stuck at a turn, and we were going about 15mph the whole ride. It felt so nice outside! Considering that this was my first time riding, I don't feel like it was too hard to pick up and learn how to operate the ATV. I would NOT recommend this during the summertime. I think this experience would not be enjoyable in the slightest if it was hot given that you're already wearing a helmet and there's heat that comes from the ATV that you can feel near your calves. Your thumb will hurt a bit as you have to press it in consistently to make the ATV go. You can ask for a break if needed if your thumb gets tired. ***Important to note ***I did this ATV trip on the first day of my period and it was still enjoyable! Usually the first day of my period my body feels dreadful (headaches, nauseous, and backaches). I didn't have anything to eat prior to our ride and I felt nauseous right after I got off the ATV ride, but that's not the ATVs fault. Just recommend having a little bit of food at the very least before you go. Overall, I would rate it 4/5 stars. I feel like I was so focused on riding the ATV, following the guide, and making sure I was going at an enjoyable speed for the rest of my party that I didn't really get to take in the view and "enjoy the mountain" so to speak. We started off on smoother paths and then our guide took us on more challenging paths with turns and dirt bumpy roads. I think this is a great experience/activity to do when the weather is cool.

A Text message sent at 2am said to meet up at 930am, which we didn't see until parking in the garage at 930am. We get there at 937am to check in, our tour gets verified with the owner (bald slick brother in a all white T parked a glossy badass Benz). At 10am the rest of our tour group arrives. They wait on the opposite end of us because our tours are separate. At 1010am we get verified the 3rd time that we have both tours booked, then offered a seat in the open air tour truck. At 1035 we get verified again & told to get off the open air tour truck and get a seat on the white van with everyone else, that our Hollywood tour would be after we get back from the Hood tour, Mind you the tour I booked was described as 3.5 hrs, quick & to the point. Instead We end up on a nearly 4 hours long tour of the hood. We got back to the pickup location at 230pm. 5 hrs in total wasted mostly by waiting around, watching a verbal argument btwn Mooney, the owner & Big Mike but he seemed to stay out of it. The complaining and arguing and cussing was authentic, cuz Mooney's frustration was real & felt. Yet I think his hissy fit led to all the chaos & waiting around we had to do. We're out $80 because that how much more we paid than everyone else on our tour. I left feeling "Debow-ed" with my tourist chain getting yanked off! Not to mention, the Van sound system went out by blasting uncontrollable screeching noise every time the Van was started back up. This screeching assault to our hearing happened about 9 times. Painful!!! Plus we were stuck in the heat with no AC. Haha it was so ridiculously awful, that looking back I can only laugh. Luckily we broke down close to a small store & bought cold drinks & snacks while the wiring was figured out to the sound system. The rest of the tour the microphone didn't work so the people in the back couldn't hear Big Mike's awesome story telling, and their nonstop complaining behind me was distracting AF. Lastly what we were overcharged $80, should be given to Big Mike and lil sum for Mooney cuz Mooney was mad as hell and I could tell by his high level cussing he can tell a story too.
