They have a pretty decent range of fruit and veges too. Not only that, but they also sell some other basic everyday items like bread, milk, eggs etc. Not only THAT, but they have a rather large section which has Asian cooking products as well as some crazy looking snack foods. Basically it is the best place ever. Actually this shop is very new, replacing an old fruit and vegetable store which was just terrible. This one is the complete opposite. I now have no need for supermarket vegetables, which in my opinion are rather average anyway.

Located in amongst the shops on Felton Mathew, V's Fruit and Vege is very convenient. What I love about this store is that all the fruit and veges are fresh and cheap. For 99 cents the size of the broccoli was amazing! Seriously! The broccoli heads here are huge. The bananas and the apples to be honest aren't the flashiest, but everything else here is spot on. There also sell Asian noodles, rices, herbs and sauces. The parking here is fantastic. There is plenty of on-site parking.

I left this Asian shop with a bag of tomatoes and two decent sized and healthy looking eggplant for only $3.00. We arrived just as it was opening, so unfortunately trays of fruit were still being brought out into the store and I was not able to take full advantage of the bargains. Having said that, not everything was cheaper than usual, just a few things like the eggplant. Avocados were still $2. Aside from fruit and vegetables, there was a wide variety of Asian noodle, spices, drinks, herring, and other ethnic foods not normally found in supermarkets. Additionally there were your normal fresh up juices etc in the fridge. Great shop when you just need to pick up a few fresh items.

Fruit City is regularly two-thirds to half the price of the supermarket, and the fruit and vege are always fresher and better quality. They have a full range of the aforementioned and often some things in stock that the supermarket doesn't have. They also stock a really good range of Asian greens, as well as eggs, spices and nuts, teas, biscuits, and heaps of frozen stuff, from meat and fish to heaps of different kinds of dumplings, berries, and pies. The service is really good, so I can't think of a negative thing to say about it. Except, and this is more of a general comment, what's with people wearing plastic gloves to both weigh and pack the veges, and take the cash?

It is also pretty much cheapest price around that area - much cheaper and fresher than supermarket down the road. They also have a range of different Asian greens and specialty Asian grocery items which you don't really find that much in the surrounding area. The meat they stock is well priced, fresh and 'nice' according to my mother (as a vegetarian I don't really have an opinion on the taste of it, but I'm sure its great). The girls at the counter are delightful, who remember your face and are always super friendly. Parking is easy and they are part of the AA petrol discount scheme, which is even more incentive to visit. Don't expect to find anything organic or free-range here, but if price is the bottom line for you then Lim's is the place to go.

A grocer it is - you can buy a lot of really good quality fruit and vegetables here. They all come with poems on the stands that talk about not squeezing the nectarines or avocados to death; it's cute. But this place also sells a large range of artisan cheese, fancy crackers and imported items like Belgian chocolate and German Spekulatius biscuits. YUM! The most amazing thing about this place is the prices of the stuff - we were stunned to get a packet of pretty fancy crackers, a wheel of cheese and a massive container of semi-dried tomatoes for less than ten bucks. Eat your heart out, Nosh! This place is so cheap and so good - definitely check it out.

They sell a lot of more tropical fruits that the supermarkets do not, due largely to the fact that a large proportion of the Asian population shop here and these more unusual fruits are what they know and love. This therefore makes getting your fruit and vegetables more exciting. They also seem to have extremely large kumara here, absolutely huge. That aside, great store. They also stock Asian grocery items like noodles, miso, cookies, drinks, dried fruits, crackers and so on. Other things like Swiss chocolate, honey, Danny's pita bread, coconut butter and fortune cookies can be found here too. The staff are really polite, the quality of the produce is good and so are the prices. There is lots of parking on site too which is great because parking in Newmarket can be a bit of a hassle so if you're passing through give it a go.

I also buy stuff like coconut cream, curry pastes, canned vegetables and other stuff from here at good prices, and they have some drink fridges in the back with a weird and wonderful range of different Asian drinks. The staff here are always friendly and efficient, and the store itself is clean and well stocked.

Our favourites include the kiwifruit, courgettes and green beans. However it does vary day to day. Continuing with the bargains, they also do a few different specials every week. Lately, it has been large bags of apples priced between $1.49 and $1.99. Great for stewing and for the past month I have been having it on porridge! They also sell a range of Chinese dumplings (which are delicious), buns and lots of frozen seafood, plus, wait for it, KIMCHI! So exciting!!! I bought a huge container for $10 and have been putting it on salads. Parking is plentiful and a bonus that it is right next to a Chinese bakehouse, two car washes, and around the corner from a huge Countdown - handy!

They offer both baskets and trolleys, I usually end up needing a trolley as I like to buy all my fruits and veggies for the week from here. The price can add up but everything I get from there is tasty, almost never bruised and definitely NOT frozen. Going through the checkout is quick here, they like to get you through as fast as possible so that lines don't build up and block their little store. It's in a handy location opposite the supermarket, don't buy you fruit and veggies from the super, support small businesses and get them from Lum!

During those 12 years one of the owners frequently went to America to buy the stock. And for many years they got special orders for me. But ever since the pandemic they have lost the plot. They refused to accept special orders and their shelves rarely offer me what I want. I have repeatedly asked them to figure out a new method of getting their supplies which they refuse to do. How they stay in business is a mystery without desirable stuff to buy. They're old and no longer seem to give a damn. I find it remarkable that they stay in business. Not worth the trip.

Since the owner was clearly using her consumer... ahem marketing skills, the first sight upon entering was a stock pile of Stars & Stripes regalia. All that was needed was the Star Spangled Banner playing in the background. Independence Day is only a few days away, so stock up. Martha's Backyard which of course is a play on words, (think Martha's Vineyard) has many American culinary favorites from candies, seasonings, sauces, cereals, beverages and snacks. I walked out with Cholula, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Lawry's Seasoned Salt, a pack of Lawry's Taco seasoning, mini Butterfingers and 2 boxes of Cap'N Crunch cereal for under $40.00. Not a bad price for imported happiness.
