Spring Cleaning has arrived! This means time to wash a mountain of rugs and bedding. Given that my…read moreduvets and mattress pads probably are too fat to fit into my washing machine, it meant going out to the nearest laundromat and taking advantage of their giant industrial washing machines! I came across Laundry Unlimited, and it's probably the nicest laundromat I've ever been to!!! First of all it's modern, so you don't need to lug around quarters!!! Second, the facility itself was extremely clean, and there was an attendant on site if you needed help. Even walking into the establishment was easy - imagine they have wide sliding doors that automatically open, so you're not having to juggle bags and try to open the door simultaneously! Pricing was a little more expensive than your average laundromat, but in my opinion it was worth it, to be able to do your laundry in a spacious and clean environment. One important thing to note, the laundromats are high tech now! They have touch screen, and it's best to install the Speed Queen App on your phone before coming here. I admit it did take me like 2 minutes to get everything set up. You can add a payment method, then you add funds to the app. There is a vending machine where you can also pay by cash as well. You will need to go into the App and select the Machine number. You can either start by selecting options through your phone or on the touch screen. There are the usual settings and options for Temperature, Washing Type etc. I loved that they had a bedding option! All in all, if I have bulky items for washing, I'm coming here!!!

Clean and I love the app vs use of coins. I have not been to the laundromat in over 10 years but…read morewow have prices skyrocketed. But of course my washing machine would go on the fritz right after traveling for several weeks and I could not stand all of the dirty clothes in my house. This place is easy to find nice and neat and has a variety of washing machines as small as 20 pounds as Bauer just 80 pounds for very large loads or very bulky items. I really appreciate not having to lug bags of change my laundry as well. Make sure you bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets and other supplies because they do not provide or sell those items. The staff was very friendly and help me navigate the machines as I was not familiar with them

To make a long story short, my mom contacted them twice. She went back up there they told her that they would fix them not only did they not fix them they looked worse when she picked them back up and was told that she could not have her money back. Her draperies-were not worth hanging. Poor customer service,, Awful dry, cleaning ! You just don't take peoples things and when they get them back, they can't even use them anymore!

I called first to double check the pricing and was told that everything was pretty much $2.99, which was amazing. I had a bad experience at a previous cleaners. I had less than 10 items and my total was over $60. This time, I know I had at least 20 items and it only cost me $55. You do have to pre-pay, which I had no problem with. I was told it will be ready in the next day before 5 PM. I returned the next day on Tuesday around 3:50 PM to pick up the items. There wasn't a huge line. While in the store, everything looked good except one of my ties, which was blue. It had yellow stains on it. I brought it up to the employee and the cleaner admitted to making the mistake. They did settle with me by looking up the tie online. I got $25, which I'll use to get a replacement one. This process was simple and easy. I did notice that my crème colored overcoat had red lint on it, presumably from my red peacoat that I also got cleaned. When I got home, I inspected the items and found that my north face jacket was still dirty. That jacket and several other of my blazers/coats either still had stains or were very linty! A good portion of the items had wrinkles in them as well. My white blazer and crème north face were two items that were not very clean. My ties did get clean tho! I wish I had taken a before picture as they were really dirty. Overall, it was an okay experience. They're so busy and have so many customers, I expected more, honestly. Yes, the items are cleaner than I brought in, but I just don't feel this is the standard for dry cleaning. Maybe I'd return. I'm not sure. I'm really looking for a good dry cleaner that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg.

One of the main reasons my Mom was excited about moving into our apartment on Bronx Park East in…read morethe '50s was that the basement had a washer and dryer. It also had an extractor which I don't think any longer exists. It was a machine that extracted some of the water before you put it in the dryer. It was noisy and shook and kind of scary. Actually, the whole process of washing clothes and drying your clothes in the Bronx was scary. You had to go down under our apartment building into the dark, smelly, creepy basement. That's where you found the washing machine and dryer and extractor. I hated to go down there and came up with any excuse to not help my mother with the laundry but to know avail. I was not very helpful in the house and this was the one task I could do and my Mom made sure I did it! I had heard that monsters lived in the back of the basement where the bicycles and carriages were stored. I never had the nerves to go back there by myself. Always about halfway there, I would hear something or see something and freak out and run back to the washing machine. It didn't help that on the way to the back of the basement you passed the furnace room. What could be more scary than seeing huge lumps of coal burning and a furnace in the dark. I was waiting for a ghost or monster to jump out at any second. I was happy when I got older and the laundry tasks went to my younger brother and I did not have to go down into that nasty, creepy, ugly dark basement. I swore then that someday I would have my own washing machine. I would not have to go anywhere outside my home That worked until last month when my Sears washing machine broke down. I'm still working on getting a new one, but in the meantime I found a laundromat on Summit avenue pretty close to my house. What a trip it was to go inside a laundromat. I don't think I had been in one since college Refuel Wash-n-go Laundromat is conveniently located on Summit avenue by 29. It is also attached to a gas station and convenience store which made waiting on the wash to finish easy. I filled my car with gas and got myself a diet Coke and before I knew it the washing cycle had ended. The place was pretty clean. Looks like it is attended by the same staff that takes care of the convenience store. I must send out Kudos to one of the women who work there. When I approached her to help me with the washing machine, She was incredibly helpful showing me where to put the coins, where to put the detergent, etc. I really appreciated that! The washing cycle for the pretty large load was around $5. Not cheap but not expensive. What surprised me is how quickly it washes your clothes. My cycle at home takes an hour over; here it was 20 minutes ! The laundromat was well stocked with baskets with wheels and countertops. I wish they had some place to sit. Those of us that were washing clothes had to sit on the curb outside. Before I knew it, the clothes were clean, I threw them in a big garbage bag and went home to put them in the dryer. Great to know that this place is down the street when needed. And for those of you who rely on an outside source to get your clothes washed, this place looked pretty good to me. And like I said, you could throw your clothes in and then get some gas and get yourself a snack and time will pass pretty quickly I may miss my Mom and my friends on Bronx Park East. I may miss singing in the chorus of PS96. I may miss the botanical gardens and the Bronx Zoo. But I will never miss that creepy, dark basement at 2526 Bronx Park East and that scary experience of having to wash and dry our clothes down there. I'm so glad I have the Refuel Wash-n-Go laundromat as an alternative!
