This place is phenomenal. I've been eating from here once a week I'd say for the past 6 months of so while staying in Buenos Aires, so I can't give it anything less than 5 stars. Finding good spicy food in Buenos Aires is a challenge, but Fukuro truthfully I think is better ramen than I can find home in Chicago. I think this restaurant would do well just about anywhere. Their Karai ramen is a lifesaver for me. I have a high spice tolerance and am very happy to report that this ramen is spicy by International standards, not just spicy for Argentinians. That being said, be sure you REALLY like spicy food before ordering this one because it is Fire. My girlfriend loves with Kikanbo ramen as well, its all super flavorful and the Piggy Style Dumplings make for a solid appetizer as well. The restaurant is cute and fun, the food quality is incredibly consistent (I don't think I've had a bad meal here), and they are handling COVID really well. I was worried that the meals wouldn't be good delivered, but they have a great system ensuring everything stays fresh and tastes the same at home as it does in the restaurant. We were excited to take a break from the usual fare when I saw good reviews for this place and it was right around the corner from our hotel. Now several reasons for the rating - 1) the hostess who seated us and all of the servers had no energy or smile. It literally felt like they were forced to be there 2) absolutely no help with the menu 3) we got vegan dim sums , bao and ramen. All of the bao, dim sums and noodles were uncooked. And there was no soy or any other sauce available for the dimsums or bao. Would not recommend this place at all. read more

My brother and I were looking for a noodle bowl dish after a long day of walking around in the park. We settled on this restaurant after reading the reviews on Yelp. The interior and decor of this place seemed really cute. The restaurant opens at 8pm and we got there around 8:30pm. The place was already packed and so we waited about 10-15 mins to be seated. The menu is pretty simple. They even have English menu on the backside. We decided on the #Huangbrothers Bao and #Keepitreal ramen. The Bao were pretty good although I would leave the pickles out of it next time. It was a weird mix. The real loser of the meal was the Ramen. The pork bone broth was underwhelming and my noodles were undercooked. I decided to take a chance and bit into the block of noodle but realized quickly that was a bad idea. When the server asked me if the meal was okay I pointed to the block of undercooked noodles and she just smiled and nodded. I blame the language barrier. Would probably skip this place next time. Sluuuurp. RAMEN. Okay, this is one of the few places where you can get ramen in this city, so it has to be good, right? Right! Located in pleno Palermo, it's a great place to stop in and get your noodle fix. Vegetarian options are clearly marked on the menu, which has both an English and Spanish side. Their veggie ramen is chock-full of different veggies, and super duper tasty. A must-try for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Another shining moment: The service here is REALLY good compared to the average Argentine restaurant. The staff is friendly, efficient and attentive. Not a lot of space and it gets pretty packed, but they have a nice little outdoor waiting area and offer you drinks while you're waiting. Try to come early if you can. Overall, definitely recommended if you're looking to get your slurp on in the lovely city of Buenos Aires. read more

A piece of Japan in Buenos Aires. They have dumpling or steam buns for starter. 80 pesos per. Tried the dumplings and they was ok+, not fried in a pan as you get them in Japan but still decent. For being a ramen joint in Buenos Aires, the place was pretty good. The pork bun appetizer was delicious, and they have some good beers on tap. The ramen was a bit different...cilantro was added, which sways away from conventional thinking, so I think they are trying to bend the rules a bit here. The owners are talkative and the atmosphere inside has a cool vibe to it. One of the owners visited Japan and was inspired by the ramen cuisine there so he decided to open up a shop in Palermo. Picante spice tends to be a fairly foreign concept to many porteño restaurants around Buenos Aires. However, if you are in want of a good sweat and sinus cleanse, Fukuro can serve your need. The Taiwanese-Japanese fusion offers a gradation of dishes ranging from the classic ramen with hot (caliente) broth, all the way to hot (picante) Tom Yum style dishes with many variances, accompanied by conceivably delightful additions. While some may say the noodles don't fit their narrow definition of ramen noodles, the thinness (or thickness for that matter) does not take away from flavor, presentation, or edibleness of these apparently "inauthentic" but delicious conceptions. The ingredients by all accounts, are all freshly sourced. The cook of the chashu pork is perfectly firm enough to be picked up by chopsticks (even by patrons less practiced in the art), but tender enough to melt in you mouth. An order of gyoza or bao to whet your appetite before the meal is an absolute must. Bring cash. read more

I write this review after deciding to give this place one more chance, and bringing two other Asian friends to get their opinion. If you think about a dish as a vector in hyperspace, then experienced fusion chefs innately understand the heuristic of using ingredients/preparation techniques where the product of magnitudes are maximised (i.e. they are close to being codirectional). Unfortunately it appears that the chefs/owners just do not have a good understanding of flavor profiles, and what works, but rather has opted for a very superficial fusion of ingredients. A good example of this is throwing avocado into a hot soup, where the flavor profile of the avocado is completely masked. Other than that, I would say the food just reeks of cultural appropriation. To me it seems the owners had some ramen in Japan and decided that they would make it without any respect for the finely tuned processes which make ramen delicious. For those who think this may be harsh, reverse the situation and think about a dish close to your heart, which is then bastardised by a few foreigners with a vague understanding of the flavor profiles which makes it delicious. Concretely, the ramen just sucks because the soup seriously lacks flavor, the noodles are too short, and the egg just isn't cooked right (poached). Forget the tacky hipster decor with Mao's head, the food here just isn't worth it. read more

Okay, where to start. Keep in mind the owner of this restaurant is Argentinian. From the very moment you step inside you immediately notice the lively and cheerful ambience. There are hanging paper lanterns (cliche I know), Kid Robot dolls (Japanese designer), and an entire wall of different murals. I really appreciate the owner's attempt to incorporate various Asian influences, while keeping it at its core Japanese. My waitress, my darn brain forgot her name already, was very sweet, attentive, and helpful as there is an obvious language barrier. Now, on to the food. I started with Huang Brother Baos. For those who do not know what baos are they are halved steamed buns with various fillings. Mine in particular had pork, pink radish, and some form of soy sauce. They. Were. Amassing. Perfectly cooked, perfect temperature, and absolutely delicious. The ramen was delicious as well, but they do it a little differently. The noodles are not traditional ramen noodles, they are a bit thicker, but nonetheless: delicious. You get a choice of: chicken, pulled pork, or chashu pork. I wanted to try something different and got the pulled pork and worked perfectly with the dish. YOU MUST DRINK ALL THE BROTH. As all asian noodle dishes are, the broth is the highlight. I have discovered ramen heaven! After a very long day at Iguazu I had both a hearty appetite and a tourist's desire to have a splendid meal worth traveling over 5,000 miles to enjoy. Chef Matias did not disappoint. Being from LA I'm no stranger to noodle shops, but Fukuro redefines the genre. My waitress suggest that I start with the special boa which consisted of a delightful blend of roasted pork seasoned to perfection, pineapple and cilantro. My tired taste buds giggled as I swallowed them. Next I had the Akamiso Ramen which was a complex blend of textures and taste. I was pleased to see that the noodles and poached egg were all cooked to perfection and the sauces and other ingredients were equally stunning. The interesting thing is how they manage to re-create a sophisticated Asian experience with culinary import restrictions. During the course of my meal I learned that all of the sauces are made in-house which explains their freshness. Lastly I left heaven for paradise with the FernetTheGreat ice cream sandwich dessert. Again, I was blown away by both flavor and creative presentation. When I return to Buenos Aires this place will be at the very top of my list. On so many levels Fukuro is exemplary. 4 stars because I've been craving something spicy here in Buenos Aires and it's hard to get. The noodles are supposedly hand made (or home made?) which is nice to have fresh noodles, but I wish they had the option to choose between thick noodles and thin noodles. I had the spicy option which was surprisingly actually spicy - so unless you like your noodles pretty spicy, just go with the normal options and add their "secret hot sauce" to it. I would go back when I'm craving something ethnic. read more

I had a great all round experience here. High quality ingredients, easy going service, and a nice low key clientele. Everything we tried was great, so I don't think you can really go wrong with anything on the menu, especially considering the reasonable prices.
