The preaching is from the King James Version of the Bible. The congregants are kind and visitors are made to feel welcome and given the opportunity to learn about salvation and fully understand. The women's group is very active and there is fellowship in and outside of church. There are opportunities for service. The Sunday evening and Wednesday night services are held at the First Baptist Church of Hammond. Transportation is provided to anyone in need of a ride to church. There is a nursery for very small children, however the church is family integrated which I like. This church is not part of the new IFB movement (this is just FYI). They were kind enough to direct me to the ladies room where I didn't have to go downstairs. (I use a cane.) They also assisted me with elevator access to the parking lot. Parking is somewhat limited with 4 handicap spots. The church is a beautiful facility with ample comfortable seating and multiple viewing screens. The service was spirit filled with a great choir and visiting preachers. Overall, it was a very loving and friendly atmosphere.

Highland is small and personable! It's nice to meet people in your community too! They get involved with the community (they have trunk-or-treat in October, they do cookouts, Spring Hill Day Camps (like VBS but better))! You come as you are and everyone is accepting no matter how you dress or what your past is! If you're feeling lost or lonely in your faith, try FAITH! You will not be disappointed!
