CASA was a fun organization to be a part of mainly due to Dr. F's enthusiasm, passion and new ideas on making students aware of substance abuse. I was a peer educator and Dr. F trained us to do workshops, intervention and reach out to students at TU on the issues of drug and alcohol use. He was one of the most accessible and easy going professors that I knew. I often found myself talking to Dr. F about things I was going through because he was so easy to talk to. Respectively, I could tell he wasn't a stranger to the crazy college lifestyle (partying, relationship woes, family struggles, work balance, etc) I was living and he never made me feel "less than" or like he didn't get it. Dr. F always just got it. I think Dr. F would be a great therapist for anyone wanting to explore the role addiction serves in his or her world. If you're ready to make a change, Dr. Frank is who I would suggest.

Dr Perilstein is a life saver!…read more 6 months ago I began seeing her during a very difficult time in my life. Quite frankly I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel... I didn't have a day without crippling anxiety and it drive me to depression. Doctor Perilstein, with a large dose on genuine care and a small dose of comedy, began treating me. She quickly began focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy as a means to train myself on how to be "my old happy self" again. At this point, I have reduced my anxiety med intake to almost nothing and wake up knowing the day will be great rather than dreading opening my eyes I will end the review the way I started it... Dr Perilstein is quite literally a life saver!

Afterward, in my next relationship, it seemed she got too attached to an image she had formed of my partner, and wouldn't allow for who I was and what I wanted to naturally evolve as my relationship with my partner deepened and where we started not wanting the same things, we grew to a point where I actually did want the same thing he wanted. But it felt like Joanne didn't think I was allowed to evolve? It got weird, where I would get anxious before my session and it felt like an appointment made to a weekly fight. A weekly fight that led to another fight with my partner. When I realized that, I stopped seeing her. I think she was great for crisis stabilization and getting me through a divorce, but I outgrew her when things stabilized in my life after that.

TLDR- it's fantastic…read more This is a long review... I have been to many therapists for trauma work but no practice has helped me the way Therapy for Women has. I broke up all the reasons I think Therapy for Women is amazing below. The values: This practice is based on mutual trust. You're therapist will happily share bits of their own life experiences. This always makes me feel less alone in what I am experiencing. Additionally, the open conversations make sessions comfortable/feel less like a doctors appointment. Therapy for Women also makes a point to let you know that you can switch therapists at anytime. Besides therapy won't be effective if you aren't comfortable with who you are talking too. In the office: The atmosphere is calming and quiet. Therapists have white noise machines at their door so your conversations will never be heard by someone passing by. If you are finding it hard to share something most therapists have art supplies, cards, fidget toys or board games that you are able to play during the session. The sessions are flexible and can be tailored to what you need. This is especially great for people like me with ADHD. The online portal: This might not be something many people think is important but the online portal is so simple. The rules, expectations, and prices for the practice are shared openly once you become a client so there is transparency. If you are ever confused about something or wondering about your last bill it is easy to look up past records and chat with your therapist directly. Price: Therapy for Women does not accept insurance (this is my understanding/ I'm not sure if there are specific exceptions). Sessions are relatively expensive since insurance doesn't cover the cost. However, Jen is a therapist I could stick with for years and I feel it is completely worth the extra cost. Over all: I really think this practice is something special and I am SO happy I found it when I did.

Shortly after receiving…read morenotice of my involuntary discharge, I informed the owner via email that I was taking the discharge very poorly, struggling with significant s-- ideation, calling out of work, starving myself, and having extreme difficulty getting out of bed. This was during a 30-day termination window, when I was still a client. I reached out to my provider asking to schedule a termination session to discuss medication management, continuity of care, and briefly process the therapeutic relationship coming to a close. This request was denied. It took my provider 8 days to respond, only after I contacted the owner seeking a response. When the request was denied, I sent my provider a polite question about medication management and a possible refill, acting directly on written guidance from the owner to contact my provider for medication needs during the transition. It took an additional 7 days to receive a response, which simply directed me to my PCP. August 17-25 was 8 days and August 25-September 1 was 7 days. During my last appointment with my provider, we also had a bit of a falling out. It's embarrassing and awkward to admit, but I saw something that my provider posted online that I found deeply troubling and quite offensive given my ethnic and religious background. It raised ethical concerns with me. I brought this up as politely as possible. My provider was initially very defensive, saying "I won't discuss politics or religion in this office!" I had not wanted to. I just wanted to be honest and say this is what I saw, this is how I felt, and this is how it might affect my trust in you moving forward if not addressed. The session ended cordially and we scheduled another appointment. I can't help but wonder whether this issue played any role in the subsequent communication delays, but it was a concern I had. Based on my experience, I did not feel this provider had the cultural competency to support patients who care about Palestinian human rights. Regardless of whether the practice was uncomfortable offering medication guidance or scheduling a termination session, I believe more timely responses to pertinent questions about my care were warranted, particularly given my verbalized struggles. I wasn't expecting an immediate response, but 2-3 days would have been appreciated. It felt like I was being ignored by my provider while I was resigned to wandering around my new college campus actively contemplating s--, uncertain whether I should take the sertraline or whether it could worsen my s-- ideation. I had just started nursing school and had a mentorship meeting with a faculty member. During that meeting, I broke down emotionally while discussing that my psychiatric provider wasn't responding to me about my care and disclosed having s-- thoughts. It was an unfortunate first impression. Prior to the discharge, I was already experiencing very severe s-- ideation and had discussed this with my provider at length, but the discharge greatly exacerbated my symptoms. At our last appointment, I stated that while in Stockholm on a solo trip earlier this year, I should've e-- my life there and never come home. I also clearly informed the owner that I was taking the discharge poorly and experiencing significant s-- ideation and severe distress. My provider and the practice owner knew I was experiencing s-- ideation and other manifestations of severe distress. Meanwhile, my provider was taking at least a week in responding to basic questions regarding my care, and ultimately just directing me elsewhere. The lack of communication was incredibly hurtful and left me feeling as if nobody at this practice cared about my wellbeing or whether I might attempt s--. My experience at this practice was deeply upsetting and I believe there was a profound lack of care regarding my wellbeing. I've attached screenshots to corroborate details.

Her chipper mood and demeanor make you feel like you can tell her anything -- very important if you need to talk about any old issues/injuries that might be uncomfortable to talk about with a stranger. Add to this that her location is so ridiculously convenient, and you've found your acupuncturist. She has 'open room' days (shared acupuncture room with other people who are generally asleep or otherwise don't bother you if you don't bother them) as well as a private practice.
