If you don't see what you're looking for, the staff is glad to point you in the right direction or confirm if it is in their inventory. Well-provisoned with beer, wine, and spirits of all types, regionalities, and price points you are sure to find something to suit your palette and/or occasion. The outside is well kept also. There isn't any garbage or cigarette butts spread around. The staff is always really helpful and pleasant to talk with. They've even offered to order something that they don't usually carry. Any time we call, they're kind and helpful on the phone and have offered to hold the specific bottle we were asking about until we arrived from Ames.

I ventured in on a Sunday after picking up a birthday present for my gf. That's where I met the Jims! I was greeted right away when I walked in...and talk about customer service! These gentlemen knew their stuff and were really fun to talk to! After a while I think I walked out of the store with five bottles. One a bottle I thought I've have to order online. Kentucky Coffee...an inexpensive bottle, but one that combines two of my favorite things. Bourbon and coffee! While my interest is mostly in bourbon and whiskey the store has a great selection of beer, wine, and other spirits. If I had to pick one thing that sets this store apart from every other liquor store... It's attention and customer service. And it wasn't just me. They treated everyone who walked in the same way. It was a nice change over other stores where the staff can't be bothered to look away from their phones or the conversation with their buddies. Before I left I had a chance to meet the shop owner's son. A really nice guy! I didn't catch his name... But if he's any reflection of his father I'd say meeting him when the time comes will be a pleasure. And Liquor Lovers supports their customers who serve...or who have served...with a 5% discount. I stopped into Neighborhood Liquor House this past Sunday after checking out Liquor Lovers…read more Neighborhood is a nice little shop with a good selection...some fairly rare bottles of bourbon just sitting out on the shelf at close to MSRP. The young lady working was polite enough, but never came out from behind the counter. Quite a 180 from my experience at Liquor Lovers. I picked up a bottle of Penelope Wheated and a New Riff for my shelf. I'd go back because of the selection. But the customer service is lacking like a lot of other shops throughout the metro... They say bourbon hunting and the people who do it make up a community all in itself... And part of that community is the store staff. To be personable, to strike up a conversation, to get to know your customers... Especially when good bottles cost $40-$200+ each... It's important.

The selection is decent and the staff is usually polite when they're not busy. Because of the apartment complexes in the area and being right off of 86th street...they are usually busy. I've ran their pricing multiple times while I'm looking for something and their pricing is on par with Hy-Vee and Fareway unless one of the two grocery chains is running a sale. The parking lot can be difficult to navigate when it's busy...it's a small lot...and they typically have a food truck running out of their parking lot. All and all not a bad place to pop in at to check out their bottles. Every now and then you will catch them after a drop and can pick up something on the rarer side. You can always find the common stocking items for your bar here.
