My husband drives from Ames to get a specific brand of whiskey when he's craving it since nowhere in Ames carries it lol. The store is kept clean and free of any trip or spill hazards. The outside is well kept also. There isn't any garbage or cigarette butts spread around. The staff is always really helpful and pleasant to talk with. They've even offered to order something that they don't usually carry. Any time we call, they're kind and helpful on the phone and have offered to hold the specific bottle we were asking about until we arrived from Ames.

I ventured in on a Sunday after picking up a birthday present for my gf. That's where I met the Jims! I was greeted right away when I walked in...and talk about customer service! These gentlemen knew their stuff and were really fun to talk to! After a while I think I walked out of the store with five bottles. One a bottle I thought I've have to order online. Kentucky Coffee...an inexpensive bottle, but one that combines two of my favorite things. Bourbon and coffee! While my interest is mostly in bourbon and whiskey the store has a great selection of beer, wine, and other spirits. If I had to pick one thing that sets this store apart from every other liquor store... It's attention and customer service. And it wasn't just me. They treated everyone who walked in the same way. It was a nice change over other stores where the staff can't be bothered to look away from their phones or the conversation with their buddies. Before I left I had a chance to meet the shop owner's son. A really nice guy! I didn't catch his name... But if he's any reflection of his father I'd say meeting him when the time comes will be a pleasure. And Liquor Lovers supports their customers who serve...or who have served...with a 5% discount. Every little bit helps! I'll definitely be coming back here when I'm in the Ankeny area...and I'm there a lot.

My former boss sold the company to new owners. At first they seemed like great people, and I was told I would never have to worry about losing my position, my hours, or my job. Unfortunately, that changed once they moved here from California to Iowa. Things started to shift when they began questioning my faith and making me feel uncomfortable at work. Their attitude toward me seemed to change daily, and so did their story about my position. Eventually, I was asked to contact my previous boss to see if he had work for me. I can't even describe the feeling I had in that moment. After everything I had built over the past five years, I was suddenly worried about losing it all. I explained that I had bills to pay, and the response I received was, "That's not my problem. We all have bills to pay." It felt like a slap in the face. If it wasn't for the drive thru this place would have gone under years ago. I'm gonna take my business else where from now on. There is too much competition in the area to have to put up with this places bad attitude and rip off prices.

Confluence Brewing Company in Des Moines is one of those places that just understands the…read moreassignment. It is right off the trail, has free water, free live music, free bike parking, and a great patio. Add in cold local beer at fair prices, and it is pretty hard to complain. The people serving were mostly friendly, the beer was very good, and the selection is always great. If you go inside and head up the stairs, the selection gets even better. My only suggestion: please consider selling mix-and-match 4-packs or single cans to go. We wanted to buy some to take with us, but we could not agree on one flavor, so we skipped buying more and just stuck with what came out of the tap. For cyclists, bridge beers and bike beers are a real thing, and it feels like there is a missed opportunity there. That said, we will absolutely be back for all the "free" stuff, the local beer, and that amazing patio. Great trail stop, great beer, and a perfect place to take a break. Keep up the Lord's work. Cheers!

Plenty of bicycle parking, outdoor shaded seating with an outdoor bar and they were hosting a food truck. More of an A/C type, there is seating inside with the main bar and a variety of board games to keep you entertained. I appreciate the wide variety of beers, including a couple sours, seltzers and NA options. Staff were friendly and super helpful! What a great night out.
