Excellent customer service! Very prompt on time. Last summer, we rented a paddle board and three kayaks for the whole day and had so much fun with it. They delivered them to the spot right on time and had everything ready. The guy was very kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend renting from here, great equipment and a very reasonable price. We are a group of Black professionals who have been traveling together for years. For our recent trip, we booked two boats with Fun in the Sun Chicago months in advance to accommodate our entire group for a large boat gathering. Unfortunately, less than a week before our scheduled day, they canceled our reservation citing mechanical issues. Both boats?? This cancellation caused us to lose money and time, and we were unable to enjoy our well-planned boat day. Adding insult to injury, we discovered that the boats were actually available at a different time on the same day. They either overbooked, wanted more money or just did not want OUR business. We celebrated Father's Day on a boat rental and had a great experience. They captain and the first mate were on time and were very friendly and courteous. We rented it for 3 hours and it was a pretty cold day but we still enjoyed ourselves just hanging out on the water, due to the race that was going on that Saturday morning, we could not get past a certain point - we hand no issues with this because we still had a beautiful view of the Planetarium, Field Museum, and Chicago Skyline line from that perspective and we got to see more than what we had expected. It's not cheap by all means but I felt that for me it was worth it, easy parking and getting to and from the boat from that point. The boat is clean and well kept. Thank goodness for the group of girls I was with! The captain picked us up from the Front of the gate 20 minutes late, and shuffled us off the boat 10 minutes prior to our end time. Additionally the captain required a 20% tip to be paid prior to departure. Throughout the trip the captain was under the deck in the employees only cabin either eating or making out with his girlfriend. At one point we had to alert him to a boat we almost hit due to drifting because of the very choppy waters. I wouldn't recommend this company for booking nor would I book with them again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This company uses deceiving and predatory practices! After having booked the rental a month in advance, they asked to sign a contract last minute and without prior notice told me the rental had to be postponed because I didn't sign the contract in time. They mentioned some nonexistent regulation that required them to submit the contract to the Coast Guard. After conducting online research I confirmed it was only an excuse to postpone my rental. I even had to argue via email to obtain a refund in addition to having to scramble last minute to find another boat for my wife's birthday (considering that I had several friends coming in town for the occasion). Also, this company overall is unprofessional and offers an extremely poor level of service - they almost never reply to either emails or calls! read more

Booked the boat for a Labor Day girl trip and it was nothing short of amazing! They were very easy to get ahold of and answered all questions I had (which I had a lot). If you love terrible customer service, then look no further into booking a charter here! Esp if you are a proactive planner. My friend and I booked a charter in March for the month of August, and initially we were BOTH quoted the same price thats listed on their site for a 4-hr charter, which we ended up agreeing with and signed off on the contract. Fast forward to 2 weeks before our charter, someone reached to say they gave us the wrong pricing and we needed to pay an additional $400, which is breach of contract on the owners end. Their site is specifically misleading as it states prices start at $350/hr. This is disappointing considering we are chartering this boat for a bachelorette party. When trying to get in touch with someone at their office over the phone, "JEREMY" or "Jofia" was extremely unprofessional and acted pissed that we were trying to get in touch with someone to resolve THEIR mistake and he hung up on us. I wrote this review at the time of the first indication something was fishy with them. Jeremy/Jofia threatened that he would cancel our trip if I did not remove my review here! Ultimately, the night before our trip they used the same excuse as others here have mentioned and said the "boat was having engine issues". NOT so FUN in the sun are they! Chartered a 44' Sea Ray with Fun in the Sun with Captain Roland and his first mate (son), Damian. We had 12 of us together for a 40th bday party and they were so accommodating, kind and just rolled with the punches. Three hours wasn't enough time to do the river so we opted for a cruise down the shoreline to Navy Pier and back to The Playpen for some fun in the water. I booked two boats for a total party of 24 people two and a half months prior to the date via getmyboat. The level of communication from this team is minimal after you sign the contract. I had to reach out two weeks before to ask how they would contact me on the day off for pick up and drop off. No calls, no texts were made between the time I book the reservation to the time that I receive cancellation notification 3 DAYS to the date with NO reason as to why they canceled the booking. I emailed them asking to advice on the reason and one of their reps " Sofia" responded that one of their boats broke down the night before. They sent over a repairman to fix it but the boat had to be taken out of the water. Sofia even said that they had to cancel the rest of their bookings for the season. I asked if they can get me one boat and I will look for another boating company for the other boat but they ultimately canceled the booking altogether. The level of communication and customer experience that I received from Fun in the Sun is below the reviews that are written on yelp. I am not happy with the way they handled this situation. It is fine that one of your boats broke down, but not telling the customer about the situation in any communication channel is unacceptable. Knowing that the reservation was made for two boats, why cancel the entire booking altogether when you can let the customer know that one boat has to be canceled but you can keep the other boat? I had a friend call their direct line and they said that they are all booked up for the rest of the summer... Makes you wonder, are they just canceling because they people to pay more now that the restrictions have been lifted in Chicago? Or did their boat really break down? WOW! Adrian with Fun in the Sun is so great to work with! They are 100% professional and responsive. We had a last minute cancellation from our original boat and found that they had availability! We were able to secure the boat and get the contract signed the same day and pay the deposit online! This was for a bachelorette party where girls were coming in from all over the USA and they saved the day! Not to mention we were able to get out on peak hours during the air and water show! The boat is in beautiful condition, they have a fridge and freezer available for use and and aux for your music. There is even a speaker they installed in the front portion of the boat so you can hear your music there as well while you hang out! There are two restrooms as well.. with many girls on the boat, that was a huge plus! The captain was great and very mindful to the few people who were feeling a little sea sick. Took us to calm water to accommodate. Once we were parked we were able to inflate or floats with their air machine which was nice. Not to mention Adrian was a champ and took a million group photos for us every time we asked. Although our other boat cancelled it couldn't have worked out better! They almost ruined my birthday!!!! Totally unprofessional. We contacted them 1.5 months ago to start the booking service, not only that it took us forever to confirm the booking (they rarely answered our emails and phone calls), but they also asked us to sign some random contract on the day before our scheduled outing that they could have asked 1 week or 2 weeks or 1 month ago! When we didn't sign it in time they said they needed to cancel our booking. We had some friends coming out of town for the party and we had to scramble to look for another boat! After everything had been easily coordinated and booked through email, including signing the contract, one week before our event I received a text message from a new contact saying due to "minor complications" they needed our event to move times or days. When I reached out to my original contact via email to inquire further, he said they had looked at the weather and felt it was going to be too bad for the time of our event. It being a week out and knowing chicago weather, I said I wanted to remain optimistic a bit longer and make a decision closer to the day of the event. The next day I received an email stating the boat was out of the water for repairs and they would be canceling our event as the boat was out of commission. I felt like I was not being told the truth, but more importantly, something that took a lot of coordination and that people were looking forward to got canceled for an unclear reason.
