We spoke with Amanda, she was very gentle and matter of fact. Such an emotional time. It's hard to describe your emotions and trying to deal with such a sensitive, personal family matter. Amanda walked through the process. Explained what she would do as far as cremation goes. And typing up the obituary and sending it to the Sun Journal. Amanda kept all 3 of us in the loop and explained again what the next step would be. I had picked up my moms cremations and was given paperwork and documents, even gave me viles of ashes for a cremation urn jewelry that I was going to purchase online. I had the pleasure of working with Jonathan to help my mother-in-law make arrangements for her late husband. Jonathan was a pleasure and comfort to all of us and answered all our questions, even those pertaining to my own plans. The "home" itself is beautiful and very clean.The prices are reasonable also, they include all the paper work needed for things life SS, and other paper work needed for burial. I highly recommend Funeral Alternatives to make your final arrangement which is done with dignity. After my mother passed away, the hospital recommended Funeral Alternatives of Lewiston, Maine to assist with the cremation process. We had the absolute worst experience, will never do business with them again and want to let others know of this shoddy business. For starters, when we had the initial meeting with Funeral Alternatives, they suggested a memory fingerprint necklace as a keepsake and even provided us with the brochure. We stated--with absolutely no ambiguity--that we wanted the fingerprint for the fingerprint necklace. We also mentioned that we had the intention of splitting the ashes, and would prefer that they do that for us. They agreed to do that. However, when the time came to pick up the ashes, we asked for the fingerprint and the Funeral Alternatives representative informed us that there was no fingerprint. In essence, they failed to follow through with getting the fingerprint for my keepsake, an enormous error that cannot be undone. In addition, they failed to separate the ashes as well. A funeral home should assist the grieving with the final arrangements, but Funeral Alternatives only contributed to my grief. I do not recommend doing business here, both for your sake and the sake of your loved ones. read more
