Celebrated a friends birthday here a few weeks ago. The views of the ocean from the restaurant were gorgeous. Because of the views I would definitely recommend going at night. We received complimentary wontons which were really good. I ordered the curry and rice. The presentation of the food was really nice but it tasted even better than I expected. It was super flavorful and filling. I order a drink as well. It wasn't too strong or too sweet, it was just right. In total spent about 900 pesos which was $50 ish. For the ambiance and service the price wasn't bad and the food was really good. I'd definitely return.
Funky Geisha is the place to be if you're in Cancun. A large group of us had dinner here for a friend's birthday and it was the highlight of our trip. If you're looking for aesthetics and all around vibe, they have it! The entire staff had the best energy and truly made us feel welcomed. The drinks were good and the food was amazing! I had the Chick and Beef Pad Thai, which was everything. There was even a night show for entertainment. Luis and Sabdiel were the best and made our dining experience complete. This place is easily a 10/10... no complaints.
We came here on a Spring Monday late afternoon as the evening set in. The place is very interesting entering from the busy main road into the restaurant - shopping complex with a covered bamboo tunnel and many green jungle plants. When coming upon the restaurant which is situated on a pier you're treated to a great view of the lagoon facing the mainland. The place seems very upscale with the nicely dressed hostesses and servers who were super attentive. The appetizers and entrees are mostly Japanese inspired fused with a hint of Mexican flavors. We really enjoyed the cocktails. The food came out in stages which allowed us to enjoy the journey.
If you are in the area I highly recommend visiting the funky Geisha. Just walking in you feel like you're in a tropical paradise. I'm pretty sure I took a million photos of this place. The service was incredible. Thankfully our server did speak English so he went over the entire menu and answered all of our questions. The complimentary crab rangoon was fried perfectly. We decided to try a little bit of everything so that way we could get a full understanding of the menu. The chicken lettuce wraps were amazing and came with quite a bit of food. The Ora King salmon was incredibly fresh and we ended up ordering a second one because of how good it was. I highly recommend trying it if it's on the menu when you go. We also did the duck tacos but it ended up being a little bit too much food for us so we probably wouldn't get those next time. The Tom Tha Gai soup was the perfect blend of coconut and chicken. The night we went it was a little chilly in there and the manager ended up offering me a shawl to wear while dining. This was greatly appreciated and was proof of the incredible service you get here. I loved when they brought the little purse holder over so I had somewhere to put my purse. Definitely plan on visiting this place again the next time we're in Cancun.
We decided to come here after going to Rosa Negra. Since we had already eaten, we only got a couple of items. The Magma Cake was good. Not too sweet, though it was a little big for one person. Fortunately, I was able to split it with someone else. The Shibuya cocktail was good. It almost tasted a little herbal, but it was still easy to drink because it had a fairly refreshing light taste. On top of that, it came with a straw made of 100% agave (instead of plastic) as well as reusable cloth coasters. Service was pretty nice, and the ambience was amazing. It's really well-decorated. The only thing is when you walk through the hallway to the restaurant, there are steps that are hard to see. Although they have candles near those steps, they can still be easily missed, especially if you've been drinking. Overall, the place is pretty good, but none of the items wowed me. What did wow me was the the attention to sustainability (see Eco Notes below). On arrival, a beautiful tropical entryway consisted of a lovely store front with the cutest items. As you proceeded to a restaurant, you were surrounded by greeny and crossed a bridge. The restaurant sits out over the water with a spectacular view of the city . Your seated and waiter places your napkins over your lap. Compliment crab filled wontons are given , which are delicious. We ordered Duck Canitas, which was delicious, duck was tender and flavorful. The mushrooms and truffles Risotto was flavorful. Drunken noodles with shrimp chicken and beef were tasteful. Drinks were delicious with one whimsical one. Overall experience 4 stars reason it took about 30 minutes plus to get tab , after I asked for the 3rd time .
I saw this place on tik tok and thought I'd give it try.. I honestly dont know how to feel about it. I didn't not like it but I also didn't love it if that makes sense. The food was ok, the ambiance is really cool though. They have a few performers come out while you're having dinner and it's located on what looks like a pier from the back. They didn't have a Dj when we went so it was the same 5 songs playing over and over lol. Wish they had more music.. the service was great. Our servers were very attentive and nice. They also serve hookah which we got at the end of dinner. The hookah was 10/10 it hit really good and lasted awhile. I got the chicken pad Thai 4/10 tbh I wasn't a fan at all. The chicken tasted fishy. The horchata carajillo was really delicious though. The location of the restaurant is great, there's plenty of other restaurants linked together that have really cool structures and a lot of photo ops. Honestly, I would come only once. But it's not somewhere you come repeatedly.
Really good food @funkygeishacancun Haven't had a tempura like that. Shishito peppers were beautifully blistered. Pad Thai was beyond delicious. Bhakti was very refreshing. Tulsi wasn't as good though. What irked me the most was the service. For such a high end restaurant in an international destination, one can only hope that someone would understand and speak English. It's next to impossible to communicate with the wait staff. A tad too snooty for my liking. Great ambience to celebrate an occasion.
We absolutely loved our dining experience here! The atmosphere was perfect! It's right on the water. We were seated near the bar area but it wasn't as loud as i was expecting, I had seen some of the other reviews mention. We could carry on a conversation but we both sat of the same side of the table so we were a bit closer. It's right on the water. We were disappointed that we didn't see a crocodile as some other reviews mentioned. The atmosphere of the entire complex so so amazing being on the water and everything pretty much built on a dock. You feel like you are have been whisked away to another world. They definitely pull out all of the theatrics here! It was Dana birthday so they brought a slice of cake over and had sparklers and all the waiters clapping and dancing. It was cute, but they seemed to do this every 15 min. I guess everyone's comes here for birthdays . They also served drinks that were lite of fire for smoke infused and one had a flashing stone light. The food was good. They gave us a starter of crab ragooons, on the hose which were very good. We did start with spicy edamame and it was also good. The sauce was a strong flavor but not too hot. We had three different sushi rolls. Their sushi menu was limited so don't come here looking for lots of options I think there were maybe 6-7 rolls to choose from. I'm not a fan of cucumber and only 1 fit the bill, but it was so good! I think it was a volcano roll and they doused it with a small blow torch at the table. You could really taste the smoke infusion and the cream cheese was deliciously soft. Only negative to the experience was that a girl at a table next to us was smoking. She had her cigarette out and the waiter walks over to her and I tell dan, thank god he's going to tell her to put that out. Instead, he pulls a lighter out of his pocket. Lol. But I know smoking is more accepted outside of the US so I can't expect everyone to adapt to our way. They also had a show with people in native costumes banging drums and dancing. It was near, but it also make this otherwise nice dining experience feel a little corny. other people might really enjoy this. They really put a lot of work into the experience. I definitely recommend it for something different!
A true FINE DINE experience!!!! I never felt so catered to every step of the way! From the moment we were enter to when we sat down. I booked a birthday dinner with them while I was in Cancun. All my companions was so impressed and had a great time. They have short intermission entertainment with your dining experience including 10pm fireworks! It was truly amazing. Large selection of choices, where do I start? Every dish was cooked to perfection and flavorful for sushi in Cancun. Definitely will be back!
Funky Geisha is a must stop spot if you are in the area. This and Taboo were our two favorite eating experiences. Overall, I thought the atmosphere at Funky Geisha was better though. Our table was right on the water during sunset which provided some great views. We were given a complimentary appetizer which was similar to a crab rangoon. We also started with the spicy edamame and miso soup. All of the appetizers were really good, the spicy edamame our favorite though. For my meal I had the tofu pad thai. The flavor of the sauce and noodles was perfect. The only problem with the dish was it came served with cold tofu that was not cooked in the sauce and noodles. Not sure why that was, but it threw the dish off. For desert, the staff brought out a complimentary cake with sparklers for my wife who is pregnant. Everyone was incredibly nice and friendly throughout the whole experience. We will definitely be back next time we are in Cancun.

Overall rating 3.5 stars. Appetizers were good, entrees mid, & dessert fantastic. Just in general with Cancún being a tourist area, the food will not be the best. It was far from Asian Cuisine for the pad Thai and pad see ew. Very watery and overly sweet and tangy. The appetizer sushi was decent, but their short rib tacos were delicious. Their magnum chocolate cake 100% recommend. What brings the rating up is the aesthetic, atmosphere, energy, & service. Go in the evening during sun down and you'll get a beautiful view of the sky over the lagoon. The place looks beautiful like a White Lotus or luxury restaurant. You do get the luxury service with fast servers. The vibes are it. You get a live DJ making really good beats and they celebrate big for you ! Singing, clapping, & sparklers for my bday. Did a birthday shot with Don Julio (fairly priced) and had an amazing dessert. They gave complimentary wonton appetizers. Their cocktails are delicious and some come with a show ! Go here if you're looking for celebrating you and the aesthetics, not the food. Food was pricy but norm in the states. They do charge you for bottle water FYI. read more

This place is truly one of a kind! My family and I had dinner here on a Friday night during our Christmas break vacation. The oceanside views are beautiful. I haven't been here during the day, but at night, it was breathtaking! My sister-in-law made reservations for us for 7:00 pm. We walked into a jungle-themed restaurant settled over water overlooking the lagoon. There is nonstop entertainment with a DJ, dancers, and drummers, tableside hookah specials are also available. Service was incredible. We were sat at a table on the stage right next to the DJ. The staff was so friendly and held our hand if they thought we needed assistance climbing up and down the stairs to the stage. I looked around and there are several types of seating from round or rectangular tables with chairs and also outdoor patio style couches. All of the pieces fit with the jungle/tropical theme of the restaurant with bamboo accents. Food: The 5 of us adults shared all the food we ordered and we had 2 toddlers with us. Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't have a kids' menu, but they were able to make fries and also had a mild chicken fried rice. *Cream Cheese Wontons* crab/cream cheese wontons served with a sweet dipping sauce. These were a little bit larger than bite sized appetizers and were complimentary, served to us soon after we sat down. Very tasty and I appreciated that although these are deep fried, they were not very oily. *Panang Curry Chicken* delicious Thai curry with chicken, carrots, and bell peppers in a creamy coconut sauce. Very flavorful. Both the curry and rice came in separate bamboo steamer bowls. *Steak* I am not a beef person, but this steak was soooo tender and juicy. I had a couple of bites. It paired well with the Mushroom Risotto. *Mushroom Risotto* creamy rice and mushroom dish. This was one of my favorites of the night! Tasted great with the steak. *Lettuce Wraps* served with Asian-style marinated chicken, vermicelli noodles, veggies and sauces. A lighter appetizer to share with everyone. *Veggie Tempura* Not a huge tempura fan, but everyone seemed to love these. *Edamame* standard, well-seasoned *Desserts* It was my son's fourth bday so we ordered a bday dessert, the chocolate cake which came with a "Happy birthday" song from the servers who brought a sparkler up to the table. My son absolutely loved it! For the kids, they also brought out these shortbread/lemon sugar cookies with frosting and little baggies of frosting for them to decorate the cookies with. Such a fun idea for the kids to end the night. Overall, we all had a wonderful time. The vibes were spectacular. This restaurant is a must if you vacation in Cancun! read more

The low mein and catfish wontons are SO good. Service was very good. We were waited in with zero issues. Ambiance is level 10. This is probably one of the best if not THE BEST restaurant I've ever been to. The flavors are unbelievable and the staff celebrates you. read more

An all time new favorite in the Rosa Negra group. The ambiance at this place beats all others. Comfortable chairs. Spectacular service and even better food. The Lobster Pad Thai was unreal and there wasn't a bad thing we tried. Such an amazing experience for a birthday as well. Stop in here and you will not be disappointed. read more

We came here to celebrate our friends birthday! It was so funnnn! I believe the servers name was Diego & he took great care of us. The sushi was sooo good! It was nice to have good sushi after having bad sushi most of the trip at other restaurants. The wontons were amazing too I believe they were cheese & served with sweet & sour. The music was fun also, we went on a Wednesday & it was EDM. Overall we had a great time thank you funky geisha! read more

Stopped by for dinner with friends when visiting Cancun! While the ambiance is amazing and nice evening view , I would say it is not very kid friendly in terms of seating. The servers were very accommodating in making food for kids as requested. Drinks were amazing. Food was good but wouldn't say outstanding. Appetizers were great and in main course loved chicken firecracker. The entree with lobster curry rice with kabir was disappointing which is why I gave this place 1 less star. For the price of this dish, taste was not as expected. Overall service is nice and would recommend this place more for date nights over family dinner with kids. read more
We stopped by here while in Cancun for my birthday. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant it's outside but it gives tulum vibes. The decor is very put together. The food was great and the service was good. My only complaint is that it's expensive for what it is. But where else can you go have a good dinner while listening to music and order a hookah. It was a great experience. We will return. read more

Amazing place to visit The lagoon was very nice The place was beautiful. The ambience of the restaurant is amazing. It's one of the best restaurants I have visited. The drinks were really good. We ordered panang curry and that was delicious The on-house crab wontons were nice. The red curry was decent. Went here while I was visiting a resort at Cancun for a birthday. Funky Geisha is a dimly lit tribal jungly restaurant that sits right on the water. I Must say it is absolutely beautiful! Also it is full of entertainment ! They had drum performances and dancers throughout the night. Alejandro was an amazing server, he is very professional, personable and gave above & beyond service. He gave great recommendations for menu items that had a cool presentation. Everything was delicious ! I really enjoyed the duck & the dessert! After dinner Alejandro gave us an amazing tour of the club and I'm other restaurants. We had such an amazing time! Thanks to him for n this experience! read more

This place was beautiful. It reminds me of Tulum. Many photo ops around the whole restaurant. Food was good, service was great. I came at night so next time I will go during the day to see the difference in ambiance. read more

This was my FAVORITE restaurant in CANCUN!! This was such a fun night! The wait staff was excellent ( thanks Carlos & Frank) did not realize they do 2 shows and fireworks between 8-10. They where very entertaining & Fun! Now that's talk food... WOW from start to finish everything was perfection!! This is must do restaurant if in Cancun. I will definitely be back! read more

If you're looking for a restaurant that serves great food and serves great vibes, this is the spot! The location is a prime one, being over water and you can catch a beautiful sunset over the water just from your fining seat. The food was great, although I'm missing some photos (not pictured is the mushroom curry which was amazing, and hamachi & salmon nigiri which was fresh). The service was great and the servers were attentive and so fun to talk to! Also!! They have a show with drummers, as well as fireworks around 10:00 So cool! I'm looking forward to coming back here the next time we're here in Cancun. read more

We had an amazing time at Funky Geisha - it was our last night in Cancun and we arrived an hour early because we were hungry and they seated us right away. The lady up front gave us a beautiful spot with a view of the lagoon & sunset. Apparently every Friday, they do dancers at 9 PM and fireworks at 10:30 PM. We saw the dancers and had so much fun, definitely wish we got to see the fireworks. The ambience is incredible, just from walking in. Statues & water on both sides & swinging lanterns. Service was fantastic - we had Alexis who was so sweet & continued to check in on us very often - we never had to wait. He also set up a super sweet birthday thing for my brother's 18th - everyone sang with sparklers & they gave us cake. The food was great - very vegetarian friendly. Panang curry is to die for - we usually like sautéed tofu & all the tofu comes uncooked but we ended up enjoying it. I eat meat so we also got chicken skewers, the drunken noodles, miso soup, tom kha soup, & two sushi rolls. All the food was great and good to share, but the sushi was a little underwhelming (rice felt dense/hard) - we let them know and they kindly took one of the rolls off our bill since we didn't finish it. The ambiance is spectacular. The building was built above water. Amazing view of the ocean. The menu consists of Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisines such as Sushi, Seafood, Noodles, Curries and rice dishes. We ordered SHRIMP OKONOMIYAKI 320 ( approx $16 usd) Japanese omelette with shrimp in spicy tamarind sauce . soy wafu. smoked Bonito tuna flakes NIGERIAN SHRIMP IN RENDANG SAUCE 950 ( approx $47 usd) Cooked Robata style in a sweetly spiced Indonesian coconut curry sauce. SPICY TUNA ROLL 420 ( $21 usd) Fresh tuna inside, with spicy tuna tartar, sriracha sauce. For drinks, we ordered Mio Sparkling Sak Hibiki Japanese Hermony Suntory The menu for the sake says glass. I thought it was a normal glass but it came on a shot glass inside a bowl with ice around it. The food was good and the presentations were beautiful. The portion was small and the price is high. Price ranges from 110 pesos to 1450 pesos. Probably on par with higher end restaurants in Cancun. We were there for lunch yesterday. There was no a/c or cushioned seats because of the open air concept and view. It was really hot during the day. The service was good. Great place for date nights and anniversaries. read more

The food was amazing. Try their sushi, Pad Thai & drunken noodles and you will not be disappointed. Service was superb.. Ambiance was on point. Our table overlooked the water which made everything perfect. read more

The venue is beautiful here. We really enjoyed the food as well. It does tend to get a bit loud late at night but it's tolerable. They also have hookahs here for like $90 and up a hookah. I found that to be pretty steep honestly. The service was ehh you can tell they want to attract a certain type of crowd and not big on families. The staff could definitely be friendlier. Took some cute pictures and had some good food. The vibe wasn't great from the staff which is the reason for one less star. read more

Fun place to have a group dinner if you are ok with loud noise. We had children in our group so the noise was kind of a bit much for them, but overall everyone enjoyed themselves. There's live performances during dinner including guys doing taiko-esque drumming and girls doing dances that is maybe vaguely polynesian mixed with vegas showgirls? The cuisine was good, and is basically just a grab bag of Asian styles (Japanese, Chinese, & Thai mostly from what I saw on the menu). The restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. Though be mindful that water isn't complimentary. We asked for still water, which were bottled. I think we had 6 bottles for 8 people and it came out to just over $40 USD? On a sidenote, walking in I was getting flashbacks from the Pirates of the Carribean ride in Disneyland. The dining area felt ~just like~ the dining area in the middle of the lake as you are coming out from the ride. Same lighting, same atmosphere, the only thing missing was the fog. Maybe it's just me. Not a knock at all as I always enjoyed that ride. :D read more
