At first glance their menu looks like it's trying to do too much...Thai, Chinese, Japanese, even a couple Mexican dishes. I can't speak for the rest of it, but their Thai curry was AMAZING! This was our first time at Asia caribe and next time in Isla we will definitely go back. Juan was our server and he was great. We got sushi rolls and sashimi. The salmon sashimi was delicious and the pieces were huge. I've been told the steak is good here so next time I'll try that. If you get a cocktail with bourbon make it a double. My first wasn't strong enough. No biggie though I order doubles at a lot of Isla restaurants for that reason. Asía Caribe was a winner. read more

Had to try this place based on reviews and Facebook posts. Came on November 1st and it was busy. Service is slow. We ordered the Crispy Fried Egg Rolls. The sweet & sour sauce was not the usual sauce you would expect. I didn't care for it. The egg rolls themselves I did not like. Then we ordered the Filet Minion, Trio De Tostadas and Salmon Roll. The filet was not peppercorn crusted like the menu said and the ginger glaze was more like a teriyaki sauce. It still tasted very good. The Salmon roll was just so so. More like grocery store sushi and I eat a lot of sushi, more on the higher end. The Trio Del Tostadas was very very good. I would come back just for that. The location and ambiance is cool being on Hidalgo. Service is the worst part. Extremely slow coming by and checking on you and waiting forever for the bill. The food came out fast enough. Lots of screaming kids playing video games on their IPads tonight. I guess it's an off night. They don't convert to going rate so cheaper to pay with Pesos. The men's restroom only has a urinal. Very impressed with the menu and food here. We got the chicken satay and egg roll apps, both very delicious. My husband got a noodle dish while I had the green curry. It was definitely way too much food, but we just wanted to try everything!! We took our leftovers to our hotel, and ate them cold the next day... still delicious! On top of that, the cocktails were very decent. It is difficult to find good cocktails in Mexico. While they weren't perfect, they were some of the best we've found so far. Another great meal last night. Pork egg rolls, pork steamed dumplings and coconut shrimp (pictured). The music was also phenomenal. An electric violinist who played all the beautiful classics. We've been a fan of Asia Caribe since they opened back in 2008! My husband & I make travel guides of Mexico and dine at all the restaurants! Amazing seafood and surprisingly, and amazing filet! My husband and I love going to nice steakhouses and getting a great filet. Asia Caribe is one of the best filet's I've ever had! "Chumi-umi Kun" knows how to make sushi and rolls. It was great to sit at the bar and watch him too. Very precise and clean when working. Also like the bartender, Lori who made great drinks and was super fun to talk to. We ate here a couple of times because there are many different choices. One night Thai and the next Japanese. First tried yellow Thai curry and pad Thai. The curry was outstanding with lots of veggies and tofu and the pad Thai was traditional (even the crushed peanuts). The next time we had gyoza and sushi and was surprisingly impressed. The rice was made authentically with proper amount of vinegar and chef made to order roll (don't like all the sauces) with wasabi was excellent. We will be going back! My wife and I come to Isla Mujeres twice a year and we never miss a visit to Asia Caribe. It is one of the dinners that we absolutely have to have at least once if not more than that. I usually get the dragon roll and some sashimi which is always fresh and delicious. My wife typically gets the pecan crusted lion fish or grouper and not once has been disappointed. This last trip in late October/ November, my father, who is a big beef eater, ordered the ribeye and fell in love. Not one bit of criticism from him, which is unusual. Aside from the food, Peter and Annelise (owners) are some of the the nicest, most welcoming folks on the island. They see thousands of people between our visits to the island but it never fails that they speak and remember us and offer huge hugs. If you get the opportunity, have a meal here, you will not be disappointed. read more

My wife and I came here expecting to have some decent Thai food based on the mostly good reviews, but we did not. We ordered spring rolls, guacamole, green curry, and drunken noodles. Each one was weird in its own way. Actually, the guacamole was the best dish and some of the best we had in all of Isla Mujeres. The spring rolls had no noodles inside and were mostly iceberg lettuce with some veggies and herbs. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce, not peanut sauce. The drunken noodles were definitely not that, but instead thin noodles with yellow curry paste and assorted veggies. The green curry was more like a thick, greasy gravy with a little spice and assorted veggies like celery, baby corn, baby carrots, peppers, and bamboo. I would avoid this place because there are plenty of good options elsewhere. Try Aroma Isla! read more

It was just ok. The miso soup was super bland and so was the Phad Thai. Like really really bland. No amount of soy sauce could perk it up. The noodles weren't cooked all the way either. The Phad Thai also didn't come out hot...just luke warm. Could have used some peanut sauce or something to spice it up or add some kind of flavor. Dad loved the egg rolls and even more than the egg rolls, the plum sauce they came with. I got the California Special roll. It wasn't anything special. The rice was undercooked but the cucumber was crunchy and it satisfied my craving for anything other than Mexican food. The masago was underwhelming and too tiny to get that bursting texture I love so much on a sushi roll. The prices were reasonable but I won't be returning. I could never miss a meal or three or five at Asia Caribe. I've been visiting the island for over 10 years now and it is still my favourite restaurant. Wonderful owner/hostess. Oh My. What a ridiculous experience. I was excited to try something a bit different on the island, especially with vegetarian options, but Asia Caribe just didn't deliver. We ordered guacamole, drunken noodles, spring rolls, and green curry. The guacamole tasted okay, but they stuck all the chips in it long enough that they were soggy. The spring rolls were 90% iceberg lettuce. And the entrees! My husbands green curry looked and tasted like oily gravy. My drunken noodles were basically just a pile of noodles with yellow curry spice. I get that fusion exists, but these dishes weren't just inauthentic, they weren't good. I would never go back, personally. Maybe they just had an off night, but it was pretty rough all around. My husband and I ended up having a good laugh about it, because everything was just so odd. There are great restaurants all around, so I'd pick somewhere else. read more

The owners are so nice and gracious here that we hate to leave such a poor review, but it needs to be said. Friday night service here is HORRIBLE. The food is not appetizing. Our waitress couldn't have given two shits less about the service she was providing, she was very inconvenienced by us asking if we got the correct soup as it did not match the ingredients on the menu. She was very upset with us about it but she took it away. The only reason we got what we ordered was because one of the owners eventually stopped by our table to ask us how things were and we were honest about it. Our order was fixed immediately, but the soup (which we did not eat) was not taken off our bill. We picked at the rest of our dishes, but neither of us cared for any of it. We also saw a couple other tables nearby experiencing the same problems that we were. It's really unfortunate because we wanted to really like this place. We are part time locals here on the island, but we won't be back. Things really need to improve here. We see that it is a very busy restaurant and we think that the owners might be a little overwhelmed when it gets crowded like this, and unfortunately they don't have enough staff or very good staff to handle it. read more

As a vegetarian I love places that advertise and clearly mark all veg/vegan options. This place has plenty and aside from being veg, they're just plain good quality asian dishes. I had miso soup with a great, full flavored broth, a veggie sushi roll with vegetable tempura, delicious, and the cashew tofu. All were great, would definitely return. Too bad I don't have room for the coconut cheesecake! Not a cheap meal but well worth it as a splurge on my budget Mexico trip. read more

DINNER REVIEW This is an Asian restaurant along the main strip in Isla Mujeres run by a cute American couple that loved it here and wanted to start a restaurant here. This place has everything from Chinese to Sushi to Mexican and I typically don't like places that don't specialize in a single thing. My inclination was mostly correct here. For appetizers, we had the chicken satay and spring rolls with chicken. The chicken satay wasn't too dry and the peanut sauce it came with was good but the spring rolls were very large/thick and kind of fell apart as you ate them. It was also mostly lettuce in there which just felt like a salad in roll form. The sauce it came with saved it though. My mom and I shared the Ginger Garlic Shrimp and the Fish with garlic and lime. The ginger garlic shrimp was delicious and full of flavor but the fish with garlic and lime was bland. Would definitely get the former, not the latter. I would consider coming back here because I love the couple and had some good dishes but would go back other places first read more

After walking past Asia Caribe and snagging a sample of Sticky Ribs, I thought we'd give Asia Caribe a shot. It was a lot different than we expected in terms of flavors. The pad thai and cashew chicken were good but the flavors seemed off some how. Maybe it wasn't what we were expecting? We also had the shrimp croquettes which actually were shrimp, apple and onion on skewers? I felt that the sticky ribs were drowning in sauce which to me makes things unappetizing.
