Don't be fooled by the professional -looking website and do not trust this business. It was a bad experience all around, (deposit paid for birds that were suddenly no longer available at the time of pickup, poor communication, no apologies or explanations whatsoever) but the worst part was that Melissa tried to pass off her old chickens (beat up by a rooster so badly that their backs were completely bare, legs infested with scaly leg mites, and deformed toes) as 4-month-old ready-to-lays. As experienced chicken-keepers, we were not fooled, in spite of Melissa's partner trying to convince us otherwise. (Melissa herself scheduled our pickup time but did not appear.) Even though we had no issue with the remaining two chickens we ordered, Melissa's partner told us that she had told him we could only take them if we took the other hens. So after giving a 50% deposit, waiting months for our chickens and then driving over an hour, we ended up with nothing. read more

I contacted Melissa from Muskoka fur and feathers for some chickens. She said she had two Easter eggers available for $20 a bird so I agreed to take them. I asked ahead of time if there was anything wrong with them such as mites or lice and she told me they were clean and healthy. When I brought them home I noticed the one bird had crooked toes which she did not make me aware of . The poor thing could barely walk up the ladder to the coop , roost on the bars or walk around , it's comb was pale and deformed . When I checked both chickens vents for lice or mites they both were full of lice eggs. I contacted her to express my concerns and she told me it was my fault and not her issue. She then blocked my number so I couldn't contact her anymore .. I told her I was returning the chickens and wanted my money back. I dropped back off the chickens and my money was not in the drop box .. So I told her she could e transfer me . No reply. She is now telling me she is not giving me back my money and that she needs to quarantine the birds to see what I exposed them too. I had them less then 12 hours.. She is keeping my money and refusing to do anything about this situation..I DO NOT RECCOMEND MELISSA FROM FUR AND FEATHERS. She is rude , unprofessional and acts like a child. Don't let her professional website fool you because she is anything but. read more
