I have been coming to Furey's Old Town Barbershop for a little over five years. This was when she was still renting a seat at a local hair salon in Old Town Salinas. For so long I had searched for a barbershop that I could feel safe in and Lelyn has truly created that atmosphere in Salinas. More often than not a barbershop can be a stew of toxic masculinity and a very hostile and triggering environment for LGBT people. However Lelyn has gone above and beyond making her space as safe as possible for all people. My husband & I got married Sept. 1st, 2018 in San Juan Bautista. Lelyn & her team did a phenomenal job of hosting our groomsmen as we prepared for the day. They gave the guys cleanups and provided a large room for the men to change in the morning of and gave us the true star treatment. I would highly recommend the Furey's Old Town Barbershop for a great haircut, beard trim, or a barbershop to have your groomsmen getting ready the day of your wedding. He texted me this morning, less than 2 hours before my appointment to inform me that he's out of town and won't be back in time for my appointment but wants to get me in for tomorrow. Like a lot of guys I grew a Coronabeard. Once the salons were able to open, I started researching barbershops because I wanted to find someone who was going to be able to tame my face forest. I found Furey's and went through the pictures and bio's of the barbers. I decided to book with Lino and from the moment I walked in the shop, I knew I was not only in the right shop, but picked the right guy. The shop is really cool first off. Lots of different stuff that catches your eye and a great view of old town. The next thing is that every barber in the shop was really cool and friendly. Lino took time to listen to what I wanted and made suggestions as well. Throughout my haircut and beard trim other barbers continued to promote an awesome atmosphere where you feel like you've been their customer for years. The haircut was great and the beard trim was awesome. I couldn't be happier with Lino's service or being in the shop in general. My barber Lino is a very good guy and he listened to me and took his time cutting my hair.
