I got to tour this place and spent some time talking with the owner, and I'm impressed. It's obvious she truley cares about the animals, and enjoys being around them. It's very clean and smells good. As far as the vaccine complaint below...it's unfortunate that you went through that, but the owner has a responsibility to protect the other animals. I think most people appreciate that. No complaints about Furpurrsons to be had. We came here this morning to drop off our pup last minute so we could hit the slopes and the staff made it so easy! We emailed in our vaccination history in advance so there wasn't much to fill out. They even gave us some extra waste bags for the weekend because we had just run out. I was really looking forward to boarding my dog here, and they came highly recommended. I am in tears right now based on the customer service I just received from them. I booked my reservation a month in advance and was told that my dog needed to be current on her vaccines and if she wasn't, she had to have them at least one week in advance. At first the woman told me that unless my dog's vaccines were good for a year, that she couldn't stay there. I checked her paperwork and it was a yearlong vaccine. My dog's vaccines expire 6/24 and the reservation was for 6/15. When I told her, she changed her story and said that they only honor vaccines for 11 months. She kept reiterating that I didn't respond to her email from two days ago and that I should have responded to her. I explained that they didn't say anything about 12 month vaccines only being good for 11 months or that I had to provide paperwork in advance; they said I could bring the paperwork in with me. They definitely didn't say that I was to be on standby for their email two days in advance or run the risk of losing my reservation and being treated poorly. I'm very good at following guidelines but none were given here and the attitude was nasty to boot. She told me they were full and she basically didn't care about my situation. I understand the need to follow guidelines but her demeanor towards me and the situation was incredibly harsh and uncaring, and inflexible, not to mention the fact the business did not fully disclose their guidelines at the time of the reservation. I was very polite and respectful towards her but that seemed to just make her angrier. They clearly didn't want my business and now they are ensured of never, ever receiving it. FAIL. read more

We had such a wonderful experience with the owner and staff at Furpurrsons! We had never boarded our dog before, and he's a shy guy with a work at home momma, so of course we were nervous to leave him. He stayed with them for 12 nights! We just picked him up yesterday and he is behaving just fabulously! It didn't seem to phase him at all after all the prep work we had done with him there. The facility is immaculate. We like that the dogs are kept in separate, nice sized kennel areas inside and are kept in separate, large outside run areas when the weather is nice. I think the additional (and affordable) nature walks really helped our dog. We opted for 2 per day (morning and afternoon), which is his regular schedule. He also enjoyed his "special" breakfast they mixed up for him, just like at home. To get him ready for our 12 day trip, we took him in 2 - 3 times a week for 5 weeks beforehand. We also did a test run with him for his first overnight and 2-night overnight stay before our big trip. (I highly recommend prepping your dog like this.) We had wonderful care every time we went in. They are understanding to his special needs. He got more and more comfortable every time he went in. We will continue to do daycare and overnight stays as needed to keep him acclimated. Terrible attitude toward long time customers. Their rules are Black and White!! no room for courtesy or understanding. Their main concern is charging you money! There is a Pet Motel in Yreka, run by a Veterinarian that is way cheaper and nicer to their customers and to the pets. It's worth driving the extra miles. I was one of the their first customers when they opened and used them for my two dogs. Sorry but I wont used them anymore and I will encourage my friends to do the same. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful!! You can go on your vacation knowing your pets are probably having a better time than your are...and your trip cost more!! When your pets stay there they are treated to lots of love, fun and home-made treats. Playtime, nature walks and spa treatments are available. Each pet is treated as a family member. Good place. Definitely not some dreamy hobbyists. A real pro operation in both design and operation. The website explains the health and vaccine requirements and though it's obvious one should submit the documents in advance I don't believe the website suggested so. Regardless, processing in/out go quickly. The place is clean, no smells, and folks are always friendly and efficient. My cat used to resent me for weeks after I'd gone on vacation now, after staying at this place, she only resents me for a day or so. read more

This place was great. They meet with you and your dog before you are going to leave them. They want to know about your animal so that they have a great experience. They took great care of my puppy. I also used them for grooming and was very happy with there work. read more

I would hope that Lisanne W's review will be disregarded by anyone considering leaving their animals at the Resort. I have been leaving my dogs there for 6 years. Before the first stay, guidelines were fully explained including the requirements for vaccines a week before the stay and the fact that they had to be valid throughout the period the dogs would be there. And of course paperwork is required in advance -- it is for the protection of the animal as well as the business. From my experience and the experiences of others I know who have left their animals there, the problem certainly wasn't with the staff. read more
