I believe the team is very competent in their legal work, and I'm grateful for the outcome--my husband's case could have turned out much worse. That said, communication was a consistent challenge throughout the process. I often had to check the clerk of court records myself for updates on motions, hearings, and trial dates instead of receiving them directly from Shepard Law. Additionally, I wish there had been clearer communication about when their representation ended. Toward the conclusion of my husband's case, there were a number of "we will" statements made (such as assisting with a facility transfer or probation out of state), which gave me the impression they would continue helping beyond conviction. After two months of unanswered emails, I finally called and was told their services concluded at conviction. While I understand that, it would have been helpful if expectations had been set earlier or if someone had simply reached out to clarify. SDF law got a hold of my name somehow and contacted me indicating they have a 97% success rate in helping people and all they ask is they get a percentage of whatever back pay might be awarded. The entire process for claimants is a nightmare, intrusive and dehumanizing so I thought it might be nice to have an advocate and I agreed to have them represent me. They've done absolutely nothing that can't easily be done with anyone that can 'point and click' a mouse pad. They have provided little to no information on the process claimants will experience. There has been little to no communication after I was denied - apparently, they assume that we know an appeal will automatically be submitted (something I can easily do on my own - there's a big blue button for it when a claimant logs into the SSA portal). Further, there was no follow-up to the asinine assessment I was subjected to (23 minutes of mumbo-jumbo and reciting the alphabet) which clearly affected the SECOND denial I've received after going through the tortuous process. Even more, I uploaded a kazillion documents to 'prove' my claim and they had no idea about the records I've submitted to the SSA portal? It's been negligent. I called twice last week, left voice mails and received nothing back. The only reason I knew the appeal was submitted was because I logged into the portal and looked for myself. The lady they assigned to my case acted as though she was bothered by a phone call (I had only talked with her one time for less than five minutes). She said she speaks to thousands of people on her case load (well, that explains a lot) and doesn't remember everyone. I was afraid it was a scam and I was right. You have been warned.

Since I wasn't living in Florida I had no idea he was running for judge. His office never said anything to me and just gave me excuse after excuse as to why I couldn't get a hold of him. He then turned my case over to his then wife, Rachel Seaton- who kept up the charade. After charging me 1000s for doing nothing, I lost over a year. I ended up having to drop my case. I thought about reporting to him to the Florida Bar for his failure to inform me that he was running for judge in Panama City and failing to give me quality service and representation. A few years later, I needed a lawyer in Florida again. I reached out to him hoping he actually had a conscience. The douche bag asked for a 10K retaining fee. He ended up doing me a huge favor, because I ended up looking for a different lawyer and getting a much better, benevolent, caring lawyer who genuinely cared for me and my children. I don't believe this man has any decent ethics and morals. If you need a lawyer for a divorce or child custody, go with someone else.
