Spencer was professional, listened to my experience, but mostly gave me a plan of action of what they can do moving forward. I appreciate the management there. Also I was not paid nor did I take a compensation of any type for this update. It was very upsetting that I got kicked out of the venue because I had a medical emergency and was trying to get out of the crowd. I had to go over the front of the barricade as that was the fastest way for me to get out. I was not told where medical was located only that because I went over the barricade I needed to leave, even though I had a vip access. I was 100% sober, I was non combative, I was very polite. I was there with my wife which is why I got vip access so she didn't have to be down in the crowd. Despite telling the security, calmly, that I had an emergency and I was there with my wife I was still escorted out. But not out entirely as he just showed me the door and the security walked away, I could have easily just went back in. This is also something that is concerning because if I were a combative person, for them not to walk me out fully is concerning as a person opposite of my demeanor could have easily gone back in. I think two things should happen Explicitly put signs that state "if you go over a barricade regardless of emergency or medical emergency you will be escorted out." If people are being escorted out, they need to be monitored and ensure they actually get escorted out. If a person says they have a medical emergency the staff should be conscious of that and escort the person to medical not out of the venue. I had a medical emergency last night and was kicked out vs escorted to medical. I'm glad that I'm okay, it's just unsatisfactory the way I was treated when I explicitly said I had an emergency.

It is located on the basement level, directly adjacent to Traditions Bar & Grill. The place has much better acoustics than Ground Zero, not to mention a completely better sound system. The lighting in the venue is also top notch. Bottom line, it's a pretty sweet venue and is definitely comparable to the best small performance spaces in Los Angeles. First off, the parking situation is a nightmare so you better be down to uber if you want any prayer of getting there otherwise you'll be circling the block for 30+ minutes trying to find a spot. Second, the beer was way over priced. You're looking at $17 + tip for a decent sized beer, or paying $11 for a cheap can. That's like Coachella pricing, absolute robbery. Third and probably the biggest turn off, was that the second the last band played their last note, the bar immediately closed and started kicking people out. No final call, no grace period to hang out, just gtfo. Zero hospitality. Overall, I liked the space itself, especially the upstairs lounge / balcony area, but the cons just far outweigh the pros with this place. Logistically terrible location and zero hospitality to speak of paired with overly expensive drinks and not particularly friendly staff did not make me want to come back here. There are far better venues in LA.

If you don't know who he is, definitely look up his solo work, his work in Lareine and Versailles, you will NOT be disappointed. Paid parking all around, but if you're brave and willing to circle around and walk a bit, free street parking is possible. Due to an accident on the freeway, we barely made it here 10-15 minutes before the show, and most people were already let in, but security was pretty efficient and checking in was very quick too. There's drinks, concessions (it's a theater, you know), and the merchandise was strangely being sold in the middle area when you enter and exit, but staff was situated to direct people and assist you at every line and entrance into the theater. We got orchestra seating right before the balcony ends and with the sloping of the seats, we were able to see decently well, even if our seats weren't the best of the best. I guess, based on the crowd and the audience, even though we had assigned seating, everyone ended up standing up for the entire performance. A bit strange, but less stressful in a sense that you don't necessarily have to camp there super early as your seat is already assigned (you would have to though if you wanted any of the sold out merch...). We were lucky enough that there weren't any super tall people in front of us. Lighting was great, sound quality was amazing and at no point did any instrumentals or the vocals get drowned out. But the most impressive part was the architecture. Absolutely gorgeous. Probably the most favorite of all of the venues I've been to thus far. I can see why Kamijo chose this theater. It's perfect for an immortal vampire like himself. I wish we got there a bit earlier (not just only for merch), but for the opportunity to take photos which I saw a lot of people do. The lovely hanging chandeliers, the painted ceilings, aged gold archways, the Spanish Gothic style modeled after Spain's Segovia Cathedral. It didn't feel like we were in LA anymore after stepping in. So much history in this building from the 1920's . When you're in there, look up, look around, it's just so intricately and beautifully designed. Apparently the restrooms had a powder room too, so nice! I would love to go to another event here in the future.

A couple of the machines took our coins but the games never started which was a bummer but we just moved on. We later saw people playing on them so it was probably something we did wrong. The place was a good vibe with a do playing music. We spent about an hour before we decided to check another place out. My husband and I had a lot of fun. Good way to reminisce when we were young kids playing these games.

I am not a sports fan but I do enjoy experience and raucous, and thus I decided to immerse myself in foreign territory: an octane Watch party. Of course there was no shortage of venues to see the FIFA games. But I went to Mal's bar to participate in two Mexico game viewings. I am not sure how I decided to visit Mal's Bar, but I was glad I did. It was the perfect combination for me: a strong party without the promise of intense desmadre/pandemonium. I saw that on television and although it seemed fun, if I were there I think I would have been scared by the intensity of the wild and unrelenting partying. This is not a chic place, thus do not expect valet. As soon, as I entered I was part of the crowd, due to lack of space, not my ability to blend in with people effortlessly. But honestly, for me that was part of the fun. I know that most of the time, people do not want to be a sardine in a packed canned. But here we were not sardines in packed cane, we were sardines in a cramped aquarium but we were alive, the oils of our bodies lubricated against each other in the name of a good time. And that filled me with joy, up to my gills! Thus this place is not spacious, and it was less spacious due to the crowd. I am not sure how it would be on a regular Saturday but I imagine less crowded, but still packed. On my first visit, I had a mango margarita. And I think I shot myself in the mouth when I ordered. I told the bartender I want a margarita but not with well tequila. He named the other tequilas, and I did not really understand their levels of quality so I told him I was looking to spend 25.00 dollars. I wanted taste that I could stomach because well tequilas usually have a back taste that my taste buds interpret as liquid fire. So he named a top shelf tequila and I asked how much is that, and he said 25.00 dollars. This is where the boom came to my mouth, not because of the quality taste of the margarita but because I had upsold myself. Especially, since when I went the second time to Mal's I ordered a well tequlila Mango Margarita and I could not tell the difference between the first and the second. The first time I went and Mexico scored I experienced the gift of a new experience: Being inside of a scream. When the Mexico team scored the blast of screams, and bullhorns, and other amped up voices swirled all around me. My body buzzed, my skin heard the noise and shivered. I did not expect that. It was off putting in a wonderful way, like feeling a winter's nip on the ears first time--- frosty but it reminds one that they are alive and able to feel! After that I went outside to settle my skin, and I could not come back. I was too shaken, just a little. The second time I went the energy was higher. Mexico advanced and thus its fans were more invested. As I saw the game with other fans, more devoted fans, I braced myself for the yell of a score. But this time, I did not just experience the yell of the score, I heard and felt different emotions: anticipation at near scores, disappointment when these did not come to pass, and the crowd just being present with the game. For instance, when Mexicans were called to make noise, the crowd went wild with national pride. When Ecuador were called to make noise, the boos were present, and not offensive in nature. They were still good sportsmanship just veiled in smack talking. When Mexico scored the yell I was afraid of came, but this time, I joined in the fun and excitement and the jumping and my own participation in the scream of celebration diffuse the anxiety that I received when I did not jump for a score. Mexico scored twice during the Ecuador game and I was in line for the restroom when it happened. I was able to catch a brief video of the celebration, which meant that I was not inside the scream but viewing it. It was a better way for me to enjoy it, at least for me. The DJ or promoter did an excellent job. During half time show the Reggeton beats dropped. And people started to dance but not fully, and he came on and he said with street confidence, "this is a party" encourage all of us to treat this as a club situation. Thus, people tried to meet people. There was a girl who was trying to meet a boy. The boy was talking to me. The girl was pulling him to get his attention. I fully expected for him to part from me because a girl was calling, so I was bracing myself for an abrupt end to the conversation. Yet he dislodged his hand from hers and she got the message. I told him how I much I respected his actions and decision. He then told me, "that will always be there," and then he said "watch" and went to hit on another girl. I was flabbergasted! He had a sure thing but continued searching. So both times I saw and experienced something new!
