I went through a total reverse shoulder replacement this last October with little hope of ever being able to do the activities I loved so much. Kayaking, golfing, or even something simple task like holding a coffee cup to my mouth without using two hands were all a distant memory for me. After my surgery my Orthopedic surgeon had me lifting my right arm straight up and down (only) for the first month and a half. I knew I needed more range of movement if I were able to achieve some since of normalcy in the future. We talked about physical therapy and he suggested that I look into clinic's I would be comfortable with. Well needless to say, I got extremely lucky just a couple miles from my home in Algonac. When I first walked into Fhysical Therapy & Balance Center in early December I was greeted by Sam, Tammy & Nancy with such professionalism, patience and interest in my care that I was immediately put at ease. They were the missing link to the physical freedom that I had been searching for for so long! When they obtained my medical records I believe they knew in their hearts that it was going to be a long haul with me. (So I thought!) Sam leveled with me and told me straight up that because of my surgeon not being able to reattach my Bicep and a few other things I guess I was missing and needed in being complete, (Yep, I did this one real good) it would take a least nine months of healing time with much less physical therapy time. (This obviously was good news!) What made me a believer in him was his approach. He asked me what was the most important goal for myself with my overall therapy and I told him that I just want to have some quality of life again! He said "you'll do all those things you love again and you'll have that quality of life again, but it will not be like when you were younger, but an older you. But you will be complete again!" I was absolutely elated to hear those words! Since that first visit I am doing things that were not possible just only a couple months ago. Sam's expertise and knowledge of physical therapy coupled with his exercise routines have been so instrumental in my recovery! I'm now reaching for things and making movements with my right arm with absolutely no assistance or support from my left hand! I sometimes catch myself in amazement and say, "I just did that, and I did it with "NO" pain!" Thank you Sam, Tammy & Nancy for giving me everything I needed for a successful rehabilitation! I have had 15 sessions so far for my back and I have to say Sammy is extremely professional and takes the time to not only answer your questions, but ask them as well, hoping to make each visit as rewarding as possible. The atmosphere is very stress-free and you don't feel uncomfortable while being there. Tammy is also very pleasant and warms up the place with her energy and presence. Sam helped me get back to walking pain free! He was very compassionate, and I never felt rushed to complete my session. Unlike at larger locations, I did not feel abandoned, while a single therapist tried to work with five other people at the same time.
