It is spendy, but if you need a rock-solid, tight and well-tuned revolver, you'll get it here. John Linebaugh, Hamilton Bowen, and Freedom Arms produce the finest revolvers available. The Freedom Arms revolvers are the strongest, and as finely made as the others, and cheaper, due to FA being a production outfit. The strength of the Bowen and Linebaugh revolvers is limited a bit by the strength of the Ruger Bisley on which it is made. That said, the workmanship of Bowen and Linebaugh is fully equal to Freedom Arms. The Freedom Arms grip is different to the Ruger Bisley grip. Some like one, some the other. I prefer Freedom Arms, myself. So, if the cartridge I want is available in the Freedom Arms revolver, I'll go Freedom Arms. You should try to handle each before choosing. You can have a 500 Linebaugh only from Bowen or Linebaugh. FA makes a .500 Wyoming Express, which is a very powerful cartridge; it makes a fine gun, but the cartridge is just not as aesthetically pleasing as the 500 Linebaugh. Being .511 in diameter, the 500 Linebaugh requires a slightly larger diameter cylinder than the 500 We or the 475 Linebaugh. This makes the 500 Linebaugh revolver the slightest bit 'off' in appearance. I recommend Mr. Bowen highly. Mr Linebaugh and Freedom Arms as well.
