Mr. David is silly and friendly, but he still pushes the kids to make sure they become stronger dancers. We do the rec dancing, not competition. At other dance schools, I have felt like the focus is solely on the competition teams, with the rest of the kids just serving as filler. Never the case at Dance Connection! I've also been impressed with how the school began to provide high-end virtual opportunities and socially distant summer camps when this became necessary. They adjusted the common areas in the studio and the classrooms to allow for proper distancing, too. Mr. David worked with the parents to explain the new measures and made sure we feel comfortable. The staff are not only beautiful dancers and skilled teachers, but they are beautiful souls, as well. They come to the studio (I won't say "work," as it is "play" for them!) as their best selves, and offer their presence, attention and knowledge, a generosity of spirit, to their students. I am a fan of the private lessons, which is their primary vehicle of teaching, where, as a 'follower,' I get held and led as if I am a precious gem. For those of us who have accumulated a collection of bumps and bruises along the journey called 'life,' it can be very healing! I find it so! They are devoted to making sure that their students have a great experience. So, dancing at Fred Astaire feeds me emotionally and spiritually, as well as providing an incredible vehicle for my physical well-being. I don't even notice that I am getting exercise while I dance across the floor--there is too much joy! Yes, learning to dance opens my heart to joy, which is the best medicine for my health! I had a sadness throughout my life that dance had not been a larger part of it. No one is more surprised than me to discover that I am blossoming as a dancer in my mid-sixties! This is the first time my son is taking any classes, so we weren't sure. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place given the following facts: - The 2 instructors (who take turn) are very strict and cold to the kids. I think younger kids need more attention and need to be encouraged rather than be spoken harshly. My elder 9 year old daughter has been going to an American Tap school for the last 6 years and I have seen the difference. - The place is unkempt. The three Saturday mornings I went, I found the carpet in the lobby to host all kind of trash and never vacuumed. Maybe the place operates on a lean staff and they do not have this covered. But not a good impression to give newcomers especially. - We had a tiff with the center on the fees. We were charged for the trial class even though we weren't told initially that this class would be charged (In my opinion a trial class is normally free unless stated specifically). Upon pointing this out, we were reimbursed the money in again a very cold hostile way. Hope the center realizes its mistakes in dealing with newcomers and takes this review in a positive constructive manner.

I was a member here for almost 2 years. I only left because I moved over an hour away. If I still…read morelived or worked in the area, I would still be a member. The hours are great: open very early until late. This made fitting a workout into my day much easier. Locker rooms are clean & good water pressure in the showers (always a bonus). Hair dryers available too-so it was easy to workout, shower, and head to work. I mostly used the free weights & cardio equipment, but did notice a variety of group class offerings. I tried at least one yoga class which was good for beginners, but might not be challenging enough if you are a master yogi. There is daycare, but I disintegrated need it so I can't pretend I know how it works. The personal training staff is helpful & there are affordable training packages. I used several trainers (all good), but finally settled on just one: Bruce Lozito. We trained together for more than a year, and I definitely hit and surpassed some strength goals, like chin-ups. I can now do lots of them. When I was in high school I used to say I wanted to knock out chin ups the way Linda Hamilton does in the opening scene of Terminator 2. Well, it took until I turned 40 and started training with Bruce, but I got there. Yes, he's going to have you move some real weights ladies. Just do it! He knows what he's doing & he's going to teach you great form to prevent injuries. No, this won't make you look butch. You will look toned and sexy! If you are looking for a personal trainer, absolutely request Bruce!
