The person who said checking your billing was right. Brent Barry should have completed my project…read moreIn a month instead it took him two years and $10k. Of course they charged me the attorney's rate for every time the secretary did something, double billed me and milked me because he thought I was coming into a big settlement. He gave my ex's attorney Lee Durio my personal information which was passed to the ex to breech a protective order and almost get me killed. His Paralegal Stacy verbally attacked me and I got it all on film, including filming the part where Brent Barry admitted to me that he gave the opposing attorney my information. The firm recently took photos of themselves to try to bury the negative comments against Brent Barry including the photos of him. They didn't have photos of themselves for the 2 years I've been raked over the coals. The secretary was made to apologize due to Brent not getting me dates and no even mailing me any of the legal documents. During the time I was with them, they made me miss appointments and court dates almost as if they work for Lee Durio.

Be very informed and ask tons of questions. WATCH YOUR BILLING VERY CLOSELY. Read all of your…read moredocuments carefully. Push back whenever something isn't right. Pay all bills by check and keep copies of your returned checks. I went through 2 attorneys with this firm. I wanted to stay local and preferred to go with a firm that I was familiar with than going out of town. I should have been divorced twice for what I paid for this. Constantly had to request status of my case which incurred more charges. The original attorney was very incompetent and rumored to have been over billing. Very disheartening to hear multiple people comment about it and knowing you were one of the ones involved. Also very disheartening to go to court and watching the hearing officer chastising the attorney for their mistakes and hearing her audibly mutter "sh*t" when they realize they've been schooled. I wasn't sure what would happen in the beginning so I was concerned this would be costly. But honestly if the case had just been handled correctly I probably would have paid less than half. The attorney put incorrect information on my original petition even though she was told specifically what address needed to be added. She charged $112.50 to update an address on the petition. So it basically took her a half an hour to update an address. She also recommended things that were not needed and she would have known had she reviewed my file. I learned more from the New Start Shelter than I ever learned from this attorney. The second attorney was much more helpful but still had to be pushed for status. She was apologetic and indicated that they were short staffed. When I received my billing statements not all of my payments were reflected on the statements. They assured me that they had records of my payments and provided them whenever I requested, but it was very concerning that they were not reflected on the statements. When I met with the partner to discuss these issues with the billing and previous attorney, no liability was admitted. Although that is to be expected. I was promised work at no charge and I was not charged for the consultation that day. I guess that was also my fault for not getting the description of what was supposed to be no charge and what would be charged in writing. Nearly $3000 more dollars spent since. The only reason why I'm rating a 2 instead of a 1 is because the case did go in my favor, as I was reminded whenever I inquired about the billing for a final time. So basically I guess I have no basis for argument because they feel as though my case was great! Also I have no way of proving that the billed time was not actually provided. I'm grateful that my case is finally over but had I been warned beforehand, I would have went elsewhere. Very sad to hear people tell you, "I could have told you that" after it was already said and done.
