I don't often write reviews, but having had extensive work done on my house, I understand the struggle of finding a trustworthy contractor in Seattle. Our house was overdue for a paint job. I was nervous about the process because this was the first time we'd ever had a home painted. I found this website and advertised what I needed. I received a handful of interested parties willing to come out and look at my home to give me an estimate. Lucinda, from Gafco, came out to look at our home. We had an old run-down deck that had needed to be removed and a few pieces of siding that needed replacing due to a leak above the window. I asked her to give me two separate estimates, one for painting and one for the deck removal/siding repair. She retreated to her car and returned immediately with the best prices I could have ever hoped for. Didn't take long to decide to hire Gafco to do the work we needed. I went to the office on Monday to sign the contract and put down my 50%. Spent a lot of time calling Lucinda, the office manager, because I had so many questions. She was so friendly and there with an answer every time I needed her. They started on Tuesday with the pressure washing. We had a lot of peeling paint, so it took a couple of days to get all of the scraping and priming done. With the deck, we were worried that the leak might have caused damage inside the wall, which would relate to more work and the price going up. We talked with Erik, the owner, about this and he assured us that when he got in and could see what was happening, he would stop and let us know what we were up against before we went any further. This was very relieving. The deck turned out to not be a big deal. It was removed, the siding replaced, flashing was added above the windows where it had not been when built, which caused the leak. The whole crew arrived early Friday morning to paint our house. What a great group of guys! They were all very friendly and respectful. Erik had us walk around with him at least 5 times to make sure they didn't miss anything, and to point out anything we thought needed to be touched up. When they were all done, we were left with a beautifully painted home and a clean yard. My house is 18 years old, built in 1995, and had a roof of thin cedar shingles. There was skip-sheathing under them but no plywood. Eric's crew showed up on time, removed the old roofing materials, installed new plywood and composition shingles. They protected the flowerbeds and landscaping and cleaned up after the job was finished. The time estimated for this project was 3-4 days, but they finished before noon the second day. Eric was present during most of the project and he and his crew were very pleasant. We were so pleased with his work that we have hired him to paint the house. Will write a review when that job is finished. PAINT REVIEW: Work Description: Power-washed the exterior of the house, scraped, primed, sprayed and rolled two coats of paint on the body of the house, painted the trim in a contrasting color, touched up, and cleaned up afterwards. Comments: Eric of GAFCO installed a new roof for us last month and presented a reasonable bid for painting the exterior of the house when he was finished. He and his crew did a great job, cleaning, scraping, papering over the windows to keep them free of paint, laying down drop cloths to catch the scraped-off paint, and to protect the walkways around the house. They primed, sprayed and rolled two coats of the body paint and rolled the trim color. They went back and touched up the places that didn't cover (there's always a couple of places like that), and cleaned up. The overall experience was very good. read more

We had our house painted by Gafco last May. I am still finding issues with the paint job. Gafco pressure washed and did some scrapping of the house to prep for painting. However the job was not complete. When my wife pointed out that she could easily flick old paint of the house, the worker asked what did she expect, to scrap the entire house? The manager said don't comment on the paint until they were through. The painter had to rescrape areas and paint again because initial scraping was so poor. When I went up on my roof to clean gutters, I found then had never scrapped or pressure washed the chimney. They just painted over old paint. Now I will have to paint parts of the house again next year (oh, and they didn't leave any of the extra paint I purchased. I had also asked that old board be replaced as part of our job. I was told any that needed replacing would be replaced. In the end, I had to point out the same boards that needed to be replaced 3 times before they were finally replaced. The contract calls for spraying and back rolling. However, no back rolling was ever done. The painter's car reeked of marijuana. The only part of the job done right was the trim around the windows. If you hire this team, expect to supervise all parts of the job. read more

Eric and his team were very professional while doing a wonderful job replacing my roof. The existing roof had two layers of asphalt with damaged decking. The gutters and down spouts also needed to be replaced. All this work was accomplished in three days. It's like I have a new house with a beautiful new roof, gutters, and down spouts. I'm very pleased with the new roof, gutters and downspouts. I would hire Gafco Roofing for any project I have in the future.
