Dr. Gaffney fought with my insurance to get me the proper tests. I then found out that I have a rare type of arthritis. She then fought with my insurance to get me to the Cleveland Clinic. I have been a patient of Dr.Gaffney since 2009. I know the previous reviews of her past patients have been suppressed because you you would see way more than 9 reviews. Dr. Gaffney is a terrible I say from personal experience, I started with having symptoms of a high thyroid since 18 but her medical advice wasn't to see why I had high levels nor to continue to run labs she advised me that because I was young and at the time 98 pounds which was drastic change from the last visit when I was 155 pounds that "if I wanted to gain weight an option would be getting pregnant as she sat at her desk and ate. I am currently the age of 32 and I have been diagnosed with Hashimatos syndrome if she had done the proper treatment and continued lab work I wouldn't have had to suffer not knowing why I was having the changes I was having. I have obviously changed doctors and it's been years since I seen her which leads me to this post. I had recently been hospitalized and for some reason she had been listed as my PCP any ways the office called me today although I had been released Tuesday. Thankfully I have a new PCP and had left my appointment this morning so whenever Dr. Gaffney office called I had missed it. I called the office back after work and Dr. Gaffney answered she goes and says" it's 4:30 and our office is closed" I proceeded to say well I received a call and was calling back she then gives me the office hours and says call back on Monday. I say all of this to say don't let this be your physician find someone who truly cares. If I could give this place 0 stars I would DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR TIME WASTED not only is it dangerous because she uses NO GLOVES AND DOESN'T WASH HER HANDS FOR IMMUNIZATIONS AND LETS THE NEEDLE ROLL ALL AROUND HER OFFICE DESK but a COMPLETE waste of time gas and money here's a breakdown on why you shouldn't touch this place with a 10 foot pole: wait times in the lobby can go up to 3 hours, it's blatantly obvious they try to squeeze as much money as they possibly can from your insurance, they prescribe you tons of stuff you don't even need, and my own personal story I've came here like 6-9 times trying to get sublocade so I can finally get off suboxone and at first they wanted me to come every 2 weeks for SIX MONTHS which is COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY as you only need to be on suboxone for 2 weeks to receive sublocade then I guess they saw I went to another doctor to try to get it from them instead which they also told me 6 months was completely outrageous so they hurried up the process to only like a week or so and the day comes where they finally have what I need and they're just waving it over my head and guess what they did they had me come in and they prepared everything for me to receive the sublocade then they make me do a urine test and tell me to come back next week they had everything ready for me to receive it and that's what they do??? This is an insurance scam and they'll waste as much of your time and money as they possibly can and take advantage of your situation to make as much money as they can read more

I spent three hours in the office for an appointment for my two young nephews. The staff is amazing, but Dr. Gaffney is straight forward to the point of being rude. PROFESSIONAL PRIORITIES: Food trumps everything! Always... After waiting in the office for an inordinate amount of time I had the audacity to search for a staff member to inquire when we would be seen. I happened upon the eating area where I saw Dr. Gaffney two fisting Pizza Hut pizzas while speaking loudly through greasy pizza and fuchsia lipstick, smeared mouthfuls, "I am having lunch right now." As she impatiently masticated one slice, she held another in the other hand and hollered "Someone will be with you shortly!" I responded "okay, because I've been here since 11:00 this morning." She responded curtly, "I will be in shortly!" This was a revolting scene and an extremely unpleasant exchange. COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: When she finally appeared in the doorway it was to tell me that I should have rescheduled when my sister couldn't be there, because "while she welcomes me to the practice, I am muddying the waters with my presence, as they are used to dealing with my sister." I explained to her as I explained to the other staff that my sister had been called away on an urgent matter, she repeated again louder this time, "We are used to dealing with your sister." BEDSIDE MANNER: She never completed the appointments, did not address all the concerns of the visit, but still took my payments for the visits and rudely insisted that we reschedule. When I asked her about making sure that we would be able to reschedule with the specialist she said curtly, "that is my job to worry about that. Just have your sister call and make another appointment." OVERALL: This is a physician whose practice must be so lucrative that she is trying to drive her patients away with her nauseating disposition, unprofessional attitude and completely, unacceptable bedside manner. My nephews asked me, "Why is she being so mean to you Auntie? Did you do something really bad to her?" I actually did not know what to tell them. This treatment was beyond anything I had an explanation for. Meanwhile the staff seemed frightened like mistreated surfs, as this subpar medical "professional" literally lorded over her practice and patients scooting around on a teeny, tiny wheeled stool rather than walking. My sister has NYC based insurance and this is the only practice that takes it for miles around, otherwise she would not put up with this ill-treatment masquerading as healthcare. NOTE: I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Dr. Mary Gaffney offers weight loss treatment. This is ironic because she is morbidly obese to a dangerous degree. She is the mass of carnival or (buried in a piano box) legendary proportions... Gaffney appears to weight between 300 and 400 pounds herself. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. I have a rare disorder and have been to several doctors in the Charlotte area. Dr. Gaffney took the time to research my illness and find the latest treatment. She took the time to talk to my insurance company so that I can go out of state to see a famous doctor. Dr. Gaffney made sure that I had medication to stop the nerve pain in my legs. Dont know who issued Gaffney her Medical license, if she actually has one. Gaffney and crew are interested in milking every penny from your insurance company than providing medical services. Her office will over charge your bill everytime if you dont stay on top of it. The place is unsanitary and so is she, dispensing immunizations at her desk with papers and other things on them. No gloves and this 300 plus pound women doesnt wash her hands or leave that chair she rolls around on like Jabba the hut. One visit will verify this is you happen to go here. Have been twice in two weeks. Unprofessional, mouse pop in the back bathroom and no tp. Uncomfortably hot in all parts of office. Doc sees patients without closing the door to her office I have insurance so I look like money????? All kinds of blood work and urinalysis the 1st visit. 2nd visit stress test, ekg, and oxygen level tests. Unexpected 2.5 hour visit. And why were these tests done??? I was there for simple medication maintenance. I already have an internest and had an ekg less that 6 months ago. After all of that meds weren't even proscribed???? read more

Not even sure where to start. Most disappointing and frustrating doctors office I've ever been to. In my 3 visits, I've waited no less than 45 minutes per appointment, despite arriving early. I think in the 5 hours I've spent here, 10 minutes have been with the doctor. The facility itself looks like it was built 40 years ago and never renovated. Some rooms I've met staff in didn't even have lights on; not exactly a pristine and bright medical facility. On my new patient forms I marked a cancer history twice, but the doctor seemed surprised when I asked for an oncologist recommendation. The doctor also ordered blood work analysis on my behalf, said "here's the blood work analysis information you requested!", and gave me a 20 page "book" of things I could have read online. I have no idea how much this cost, but it's not worth the paper it's printed on. The doctor also recommended I go outside to get more sun, saying it might "improve my mood". While getting my temperature taken, the nurse said "oh, this isn't working, I don't quite know why, do you have a fever?" I could go on, but I think you get the point. Facilities are dated, the entire operation is unprofessional, and you should be very careful with what you ask for here. read more

beware!!! i am typing this in all caps so i can get your attention please! i made the the huge mistake of not reading the reviews before i came to this office. i am from out of state and my son needed a sports physical asap. this office was the closest for my insurance so i came here. i waited 3 hours and was moved to 2 different rooms for no reason at all. my son had to give blood work and a urine sample for a sports physical. never in my sons 17 years of life did i ever have to give a dr bloodwork or urine. i would have never allowed them to draw blood in the first place if i had know but they took my son to a different room without me present and told me they were going to give him an agility test and just to wait in the room. then afterwards the dr asks my son to walk on his tippy toes then on his heels. she then began to say some mumbo jumbo about his hip. nothing is wrong with his hip, are you kidding me. she takes us back to her tiny office and sits the entire time while im standing right outside the door where she proceeds to discuss my sons medical history with the door open and no privacy. wow! she then began to go over vaccines that my son should take (its not required at all btw) i declined. at this point shes looking for more reasons to charge me for nonsense things and i decline all of them. finally after the nonsense waste of time so called visit for a simple sports physical to be signed off on she tells me i have to come back on friday for the test results. makes no sense to me and i ask is it really necessary for my son to come back miss school again when they can just give me the paperwork and tell me hes perfectly fine. she tells me he has to be present for the results. so we follow up that friday. first app of the morning and shes late and still sits in her car! we check in and im assuming her husband is the office manager. he ask for my co pay up front and i tell him "no im just here to pick up paperwork and discuss the bloodwork" they then try to get another urine sample for what exactly is beyond me. i tell her husband my son is not giving any more samples or blood and i just need the test results i already paid for and the signed physical. at this point they refuse to give me anything and demand the measly $15 co pay. i start asking questions which he could not answer. why am i paying to pick up paperwork, why do you need my sons urine again, what is the urine test for. no one can answer those simple questions. then he starts to tell me to leave and hes calling the cops! i paid for a physical i never received! how is this dr still in business just blows my mind. i hope this review helps whoever is reading this. if i can save you the time and money then me writing this is all worth it. one more thing to know. i go to another dr office that same day, i explain to them the whole story and they tell me that bloodwork and a urine sample is not needed for a sports physical nor is a follow up appt! read more

I was looking for a doctor close to my home and within my insurance premium. I called Gaffney Heath Services and made an appointment with Dr. Dietrich Stewart. We scheduled meeting at 7pm on a Wednesday. One of the reasons I chose this location was because they offered late appointments and that worked with my work schedule. The nurse took my insurance and scheduled my appointment two weeks from then. Well, they say if it seems too good to be true...it probably is. Never hearing a reminder or confirmation, I called that Wednesday to confirm my appointment for later that day. When I called and said my appointment, the receptionist was extremely rude and said that there was a doctor that had that name at that location. I apologized and hung up. I called again using the number on my insurance website, and spoke to the same woman. Again I asked her "can you please look up my name instead of the doctor". She told me to stop calling that number and I was wrong. I googled the place and call the third time. I said to the woman "please can you look up my name and see if I have an appointment for 7 o'clock?" She finally did and what a surprise she saw my name and the appointment. She confirmed my appointment and told me to be there 10 minutes before to confirm insurance again. I showed up at 6:50 PM that night ready for my 7 o'clock appointment, and there were no cars in the parking lot. The doctor wasn't there and the doors were locked. I called the office several times and left a few messages. I waited 25 minutes and the doctor no showed. They never called me back. I called two days later to see what happened, and they confirmed my appointment and said in the system not only was it there, but it occurred. They said they'd get back to me and let me know what happened. They didn't. I called on Monday the following week to make sure my insurance didn't get charged. They told me they'd call me back. They didn't. Moral of the story, when something seems too good to be true...yep it probably is. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. My insurance was out of state at the time and they were one of the only providers covered in Charlotte. I was also excited to be able to see a female practitioner. I waited HOURS at this office. In the waiting room, in the exam room. They wanted to perform a drug test as well as a blood test. I was there for anxiety and chest pains. I agreed to both, as well as a stress test. Also worth mentioning is that my blood draw was done by a student while other students watched. That was a complete surprise. When I came to my next appointment to review my results, I again waited HOURS. They again wanted to perform a drug test but I refused as I was just there for results. I waited over an hour while they attempted to locate my blood test results. Someone finally came into the room after I stepped into the hallway to remind them that I was waiting. They lost my blood. No results. The blood wasn't even ever tested. They don't know where it went. They asked to draw more and I refused. We waited another 20 minutes for the doctor to come in to go over my stress test results. Another doctor came in and informed me that Dr. Gaffney wasn't even in the office that day. They put me on the phone with her so that she could say, "your results are fine, exercise more though". A complete waste of time AND money. I'm not sure how they're even still in practice. read more

Took my newborn there for his first physical. The staff was completely unprofessional. We waited for over 3 hours and we were the only people there. The doctor is completely incompetent. this facility is very unprofessional. i went there for my first appointment with my two year old,it took literally 3 hours,i went for the suboxon program and it took 3 hours to geta signed in and talk to a counseler..didnt even get to see the doctor.. got an appointment scheduled a couple days later for 8:30 pm because my fiance got off at 6 and they wanted him to come with me next visit. I traveled from Albemarle to Charlotte for nothing they weren't even open. turns out they rescheduled my appointment for 5 that day and never called to let me know..this facility SUCKS and i would not recommend ANYONE to go there. read more

I visited Dr. Gaffney's office a couple times. I am new to Charlotte and its so hard yo find a doctor. I wanted a female gynecologist but also I wanted a family doctor. So I decided to go with here. My initial appointment seemed to go OK. I waited in the waiting room for about 20-30 minutes. The nurse came to take my blood work ( she was very nice and friendly.) Then I waited another 15 minutes for Dr Gaffney. She seem to be very nice straight forward and one that wanted to get all of the facts. She gave me an examination as well as a pap smear and recommended that I get a stress test. I was put on blood pressure meds without her telling me how I can improve and get off of them. My stress test was a coupe days later. After my stress test she told me that she would call me on a specific day/time. She even said if she missed that time that she would try until she got a hold of me. This never happened. I am still waiting on my physical examination results from May 2015. I have called the office several times and have left messages and I have not heard anything. Needless to say the follow up is not where it needs to be and they billed me wrong so I have to get my insurance involved with their billing department. I will not be coming back. read more

Let me be 100% totally clear and to the point... DO NOT, under your most desperate circumstances, even if this was the only health facility on the face of the earth ,...waste your time or your money. I read the reviews prior to attending this place and thought to myself "perhaps these negative reviews were left by clients who were simply having a bad day ". I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. The staff has ZERO idea of what is going on. The wait on each of my visits was well over 2 hrs. (yes, the first experience was simply not enough for me to realize the complete chThe staff is the rudest group in the health industry. Any prescriptions you are given are not available that same day ( as they are called into the pharmacy of a few select). About a week after my first visit I received 3 medical bills from 3 totally separate laboratories. And the final, yet most damning issue is the fact that they have staff members ( I won't give names) treating patients under a "Dr.s" name. In other words they have 3 ladies that are referred to and self-proclaiming themselves as Dr's. I just filed a complaint with the North Carolina medical Board concerning this particular issue. read more
