This salon is the best! I left Mount Shasta quite a while ago and have missed Kathy's intuitive haircuts ever since. Now I will be moving, and am considering that town. Thrilled to see the shop is still there. It's a pretty shop with top-notch service -- plus good conversation including book recommendations. P.S. There is a sequel to Shantaram! read more

I moved to McCloud from the Bay Area almost 2 years ago, and have had the same hairdresser for well over 12+ years. It's tough to find a hairdresser that meets your needs after forming that bond for so many years, so I have only gotten my hair done twice since moving here. Once was at Studio B which was alright but I really wanted to change over to a more natural approach so I was referred to Kathy by a friend. I'm ever so happy with my choice as Kathy went above and beyond to not only make me feel heard, she has a way with communication that goes beyond words. I was there for a couple hrs but the time just flew by, and we had the most fantastic flow of conversation. She's very well traveled and her mind is a library full of so much knowledge and adventures. I could of easily just fell asleep while she did my hair as she never pushed me for conversation, so please be aware that she's not pushy in the least. The end result was leaving with beautifully more natural looking hair that didn't smell of heavy chemicals and a delightful variety of things to read, learn and ponder on. All in all, I can't recommend her enough. She's kind and mindful as well as very well priced. I have now found my new stylist! read more

My friend recommended Kat for a spur of the moment haircut while traveling that ended up being so good I drove back up to get another a few months later to get another! Not only is she an amazing hairdresser but she is a funny and kind hearted women who is always down for a laugh. She also takes Covid precautions very seriously! I would give her a 1000/10 if I could!! read more

Best Haircut I've ever had! I am new to Mount Shasta and I went to Kathleen for the first time after getting a terrible haircut from someone else. Not only did she fix the bad hair, but she gave me the best haircut of my life! Kathleen takes every precaution to work safely during these Covid-19 times. Her salon is beautiful and very relaxing. Kathleen was so welcoming. She went out of her way to tell me about Mount Shasta and all the fun things to do here. I really felt a good connection to her. This really was the best haircut experience I've ever had and from now on Kathleen will be the only person I let do my hair! I couldn't recommend her more! read more

I would give Kathy 10 stars! Kathy is a superb stylist! The best of the best. I've known Kathy for almost 30 years now and I wouldn't have my hair done by anyone else! I have followed her (like a groupie) as she moved among the various salons in the Bay Area. And now Mount Shasta! (A six-hour commute) She offers brilliant haircuts and scintillating conversations at the same time. My husband and my daughter are also her clients now. And everyone has been more than thrilled with his/her experience with Kathy, every time. I've never seen my husband so coiffed until Kathy did her magic to his hair. Kathy really sets herself apart from other stylists with her superbly artistic nature, worldly travels and knowledge, and warm, genuine, and caring personality. We wouldn't have trusted anyone else with our hair before these trying times (with the CoronaVirus), and certainly much more so now! We were put at ease quickly during our last visits by how well Kathy maintained the cleanliness of the salon, the social distancing, etc... She has the process down to ensure the health of everyone, while offering the same high quality cuts and colors our family have become accustomed to from Kathy. Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed! read more

This is my first review with Yelp, motivated by the very unfortunate review posted 3/16/17. This person clearly did not stay long enough to know the depth of the Kathy's character and her true interest in people. I had cut my own hair for 20 years because of chemical sensitivities and my general dislike of the usual salons. Kathy is a stellar artist, an avid reader and conversationalist, a well traveled person with a broad perspective on so many issues. Her shop is clean, chemical free, comfortably artsy, and her professionalism is obvious. We are so fortunate to have a 5 star Bay Area type stylist in Mount Shasta!!! read more

I am in Mt. Shasta for a wonderful week of relaxation so I thought I'd look for a hairstylist to finally get my hair cut after all these months! I found Kathy at Gaia and I was lucky enough to get an appointment to have her style my hair. During this trying time she took all the precautions to be safe, she consulted with me to find out what kind of short cut I wanted and she proceeded with such confidence and professionalism. I got a great cut and I love it! I'm contemplating driving back for 4 hours in 6 weeks to see her again! I'm very happy! read more

Went to check the place and energy, for less than 15 second been asked where I Am from, my answer I am from here was not enough. Second question where I am really from and how long I live in Shasta. Right out from door. I think it is weird, make myself uncomfortable. I come with my hair situation to hair salon , not with my nationality to immigration office. Strange smell inside and weird questions. read more

I've had great experiences in the past which makes me sad that this was my most recent experience. Dear Sacred Mountain Spa Team, I hope you are doing well. I am writing to share my experience from the massage service I received on March 21. I want to be upfront that I have gone back and forth on whether to send this email, but after taking some time to reflect, I feel it is important to communicate my concerns. Unfortunately, the service I received was not relaxing and did not meet my expectations for a professional massage. Throughout the session, the technique felt rushed and consisted mostly of quick, flurry-like strokes. Rather than feeling like a therapeutic massage, it felt as though oil was simply being spread across my skin without any meaningful attention to muscle tension or relief. Additionally, an excessive amount of massage oil was used. By the end of the session, I felt uncomfortably covered in oil to the point where I needed to use a towel to wipe myself off, and even then, the towel became noticeably saturated. More concerning, later that same day I experienced a tingling sensation, like pins and needles, in two fingers on my right hand and one on my left. This sensation persisted for approximately three days after the appointment, which was both uncomfortable and unexpected following a massage. At the time of the appointment, I did not raise these concerns in person, as the therapist was positioned near the front desk area, and I did not feel comfortable addressing it at that moment. However, after reflecting on the overall experience and the physical discomfort that followed, I believe it is necessary to bring this to your attention. Given the nature of the service I received and the issues described above, I am requesting a full refund for the appointment. I do not feel that the service provided aligns with what I paid for, as the experience did not resemble a proper massage and resulted in lingering discomfort. I would appreciate your understanding and a prompt response to resolve this matter. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Alicia Powell
