The place I am reviewing is the nature reserve which can be seen below the Skye Bridge. There, you will see the original cottage where Gavin Maxwell (who wrote Ring of Bright Water)lived. This has been updated but kept as close as possible to the original. Obviously, Otters feature a lot on the island but there is a wealth of wildlife to be spotted by the keen naturalist. Tours and wildlife hide visits canbe booked at the Visitor Centre in Kyleakin and these are accessible for wheelchair users also. The guided tours are Monday to Friday from 2pm and you can take your place in the wildlife hide between 11am and 3pm on Mondays, Tuedays and Thursdays during the summer months. The actress Virgina McKenna is a regular visitor to the centre because of her work with the Eilean Ban Trust. I've been on a few of the wildlife walks and spent a couple of hours in the hide and I can tell you it's the most facinating and peaceful way to spend a day. The cottage is also available for holiday rental and sleeps up to 4 people and costs from £250 to £450 a week. I haven't stayed there myself but I hear it's a wonderful experience.

This is the coolest wee place!!…read more I was a bit worried when we turned up. It literally was at someones house! You go through the gate, up a wee hill and you're there. You will be greeted by THE most bubbly and enthusiatic woman, ever! It was done so the porch and first room u enter has a shop to buy things and a room to your left and right full of toys. It was very cosy and well set out. She asked if we'd been before, which we hadnt ,so she took us through to the OLD room and gave a superb demo of most of the toys. The kids loved it!As did we! Though it';s a musuem, you are allowed to play with alot of the toys. It was great fun. We then went to the other room to see the more modern things. It was fun my for me and my hubby and friend. All our toys we had growing up. It was a nice trip down memory lane! and kids had a blast there too. I believe there was bad fire there a few years back, they have done fantastically well to get the museum back up and running ;o) Def rec'md if you're at a loose end with the kids.

The museum consists of two main rooms - one with older toys (china dolls for example) and the other with newer items (think plastic!) including some you might remember playing with yourself (Sindy dolls anyone?). The rooms are connected via a small shop selling a mixture of hand-crafted and novelty items. The owner gives a guided tour and demonstrates many of the exhibits and there is a light-hearted and often hilarious atmosphere as visitors rediscover their favourites. Highly recommended!

Maybe I'm jaded due to all the other waterfalls I've seen, but I didn't feel as if this one was too impressive. It can only be viewed from the side. The parking lot was spacious and it cost £3 I believe. We were only there for 10 minutes or so. I'm glad it was not out of the way.

There's a huge parking lot (fees apply), showing how popular this spot is. We came in the later afternoon though, plenty of space and only few visitors. A good time to visit. The ocean views are really pretty here, you can see for miles and miles. The cliff and the drop is massive. And then there's the waterfall of course, dropping over the high cliff down into the ocean. An amazing sight. Also depends a bit on how much water the waterfall carries. It's not the biggest, but probably the one with the biggest drop. There's a platform to see the fall, but still, the angle isn't great, even you put you head or phone out (don't drop it...). The best views you would definitely have from a boat. Or a drone. I'm happy though there weren't any drones....they are terribly annoying in my opinion. And loud. Still, you can get some decent views and pictures. And what your eye can catch is pretty spectacular. There are plenty of waterfalls on Skye and surely this one here is special.
