Galapagos Boutique is my all time favorite store. I've shopped there since the first day it opened and have been a faithful customer ever since. Not only do they have the most incredible collection of unique clothing and accessories, Sandy and all her employees are the greatest stylists you'll ever come across. My wardrobe is about 50% Galapagos as it is one of the stores I know I will love what I buy. I had a house very close to the boutique up until 2014. Now I live in Florida but I make my way to the store a few times a year OR I'll see something on Instagram and have Sandy ship it to me. I was visiting Charlestown, RI for family. We decided to stop by the boutique. The woman working the counter who claimed she was the owner was incredibly nasty, pushy, and judgemental. In regards to COVID-19 Rhode Island regulations I am sure this establishment was not following protocol. There were no staff, including the owner, wearing masks. Unfortunately there was no plexi glass over the check out counter. Moreover, it is impossible to stay a proper 6 ft away from other customers due to lack of space in the boutique. Customers were trying on clothes, to my surprise, against state protocol. I will never go to this establishment again, recommend it to someone, or financially benefit them in away. read more

I did not have a nice experience here. I'm an artist-with a platinum card-so I usually look like a hobo but I'm able to make a purchase or 3. Went in on a rainy day,there were no other customers. Tried to engage in some small talk w a sales clerk by asking who their customers were, locals or vacationers. She promptly admonished me by saying they had clients not customers (excuse me), and they were largely from NY because of the exceptional customer service and their ability to coordinate an entire ensemble. Being from NY myself and looking around and not seeing anything I couldn't find back home, I gave a little push back. She wasn't happy. At this point, because I could still become a customer---excuse me---- client, I had half expected her to say "Wait!! I have just the thing for you!!!" to illustrate her claim. Sadly no. As she lumbered away, I gave a final look around and waved adios. Give me NY any day, or even the Internet, nothing here to warrant the attitude. It felt like the scene from Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts goes back to the chi chi boutique laden with shopping bags from other stores and telling them they made a big mistake by not waiting on her. Nightmare for me. Reasons: 1. Owner must have hoarder tendencies b/c I have no idea how she crammed so many freaking clothes in a tiny ass space. 2. The buyer has REALLY good taste in unique clothes. They are also on the pricey side. 3. Narrow tight claustrophobia inducing dressing area, with doors that swing outward to potentially smack an unsuspecting lady across the hall. twice. (sorry). 4. Really good fashionista help. I mean seriously, she showed me 10 dresses that worked, 3 of which I agonized over which to buy, and then I ended up buying all 3. I mentioned pricey right (fie on thee, wiley fashionista! and can you help me accessorize? eh, maybe that's a bad idea...) 5. Get me outta here, I'm spending some people's idea of rent money here... what the hell, I can't... ravenous fashion hungry rich ladies shop here and are blocking the hallway and wow, I didn't notice this thingie earlier..... Gorgeous array of clothing, shoes, coffee shop (Dave's - amazing coffee shop with fabulous coffee and food) and jewelry. Everything is expensive but beautiful. Shop is adorable but small and clothes are jammed together. Nothing ever fits me there anyway (most sizes are under size ten). No Returns. EVER. Only store credit. This is not a normal policy. I can understand no returns after 14 days or on sale clothes or without a receipt (maybe). But for a store where many people are in the area only for the summer, this is ridiculous. I can't use my store credit until next summer; I returned a dress I purchased two days earlier on the way out of town. God forbid I lose my receipt in that year. The girl at the check-out was unsympathetic. Bottom line: Try everything on before you leave the store and make sure you want it. read more

Sadly extremely disappointed and will never shop here again. I have been a good customer for years. I don't live near by yet I like to give back to the small business owners as I know how hard it is and I appreciate getting quality clothing etc.. and the service that should come with it. This was not the case this time when I purchase a beautiful cashmere sweater for $450 to go away with, wore it once while away and it pilled pretty badly. When I brought it in to show her - a place I have never returned anything, I was told that was "normal" and they could not take it back. I haven't even had the sweater for 30 days. Needless to say, good customer service would have been to NOT let that happen. Rather, she lost a very good client and woman in business whom will not forget this or forget to let others know about it. read more

We just left there, we had a coffee and went in the boutique. The staff at the coffee section was awesome and very personable. However the same couldn't be said for the two women in the boutique. We were disgusted with the way the two ladies treated us. Didn't say hi to us but the older couple behind us that appeared to have money the one girl was like hi how you doing!!! I said hi to other girl because no one said hi to me so I decided to initiate it. The prices were outrageous and if we were to buy something we wouldn't have just because of the way they treated us.
