Galleries Lafayette is a department store on steroids and a shopper's paradise, offering mid-range and higher end products. Their merchandise is extremely diverse, comprising just about anything you want across three buildings. The main building, where you'll find women's fashions, accessories, cosmetics, eyeglasses (including an optometrist), sportswear, children's wear, is topped with a must-see art glass dome, complete with a glass cat walk (maybe on the 4th floor?) that enables up close viewing of the dome from the inside. There are restaurants, rest rooms, and sweets shops in this building, too. Menswear has a building all to itself, as does the food court. Be careful here. There are so many delicious and appetizing foods offered in the food court building that you'll be tempted to overstuff. It would be just too easy to spend an entire day shopping at Galleries Lafayette. read more

The iconic shopping house is HUGE!!! We came here for last minute shopping since it's so close to our hotel. The store is packed at all hours, all days of the week. At the entrance all the well known brands for bags and clothing. The area for Moynart Labubu was doing brisk business. A Labubu bag I looked at was 2300 euros!!! Soooo many stuff here. We went to the 6th floor to get souvenirs, cookies, and gifts to bring home. Our suitcases will be packed full. Great service, friendly staff. No pictures, the store was too crowded and I didn't want to get in trouble for taking pictures with no permission. read more

Mind blowing department store. I'm not even certain you can call this a department store. Every last square inch of Galeries Lafayette is dripping in designer merch and people are crammed in here like sardines. It was surely a sight to see and experience. I came for a few specific items. A couple of which they didn't have, wanted to restock one of my favorite French perfumes and thought they carried it- they did not and a lipstick that wasn't in stock so I went across the street to secure at Printemps. I did however get to have my jellycat patisserie experience. Be mindful that the line you may see looking on to the patisserie is not the actual line tucked around back that you enter after you pay for your order and are taken to. I had no idea it would be over an hour wait. I understood immediately why jellycat cafe in NYC is by appointment only. The wait time totally dampened the visit, because who wants to wait in a line? I would have either way but I do think it would be better to have a clear expectation before you purchase the experience that you'll now be stuck waiting a painfully long time. It was still a very cute experience and I got my St. Honoré which made me very happy before eating a St. Honoré later this afternoon. I later found my shopping experience at Le Bon Marché to be much more my crowd and style. Calm, peaceful, quiet and all around organized in much more appealing way to me. Fun experience for what it was but much too crowded. The only place on earth I prefer a crowd is at a sporting event or concert, my nervous system allows for zero exceptions to that rule. read more

Honestly, from the guards to the service provided, to the toilets, this was a terrible experience. Do not recommend at all. Plus they close so early for a store in a major city, and if they say, 8p close, they will start ejecting more than 30 mins prior and don't allow anyone to enter either! Restrooms were not airconditioned and were extremely dirty. There are much better stores elsewhere or in other cities. Go see the ceiling if you must, take a photo, then leave as quick as you can!! read more

One of my favorite places to wander, especially at Christmas. The windows on the main building at Christmas are each decorated with animated displays showcasing various products they sell. It's fun to walk the entire building and check out each window. Inside under the gorgeous art nouveau glass dome is an incredible 4 story Christmas tree. A bit sad, I wanted to go to the rooftop restaurant for a glass of champagne and see the city and Eiffel Tower from there. But currently for the month of December it has been taken over by a rooftop ice skating rink. It requires reservations to get up there. Since there was no rooftop lunch for me, I wandered over to the Le Gourmet building and discovered the most obscene gourmet grocery store I have ever been in. An entire aisle of foie gras. Fromage (cheese) as far as the eye could see. Bins of specialty salts and spices. Fresh seafood. Bakery. Then mixed in with three floors of shopping are some many boutique restaurants I lost count. Seafood, Mediterranean, Wine Bar, Italian, French and more. I settled on the seafood spot named Fish Point. Then back to wandering and shopping for more fabulous food finds. read more

Galeries Lafayette Haussmann is a department store that was highly recommended by YouTubers and locals as a must see spot. I am not sure why it's so popular because it was so busy and the crowd was relentless. The whole time we were there I felt like we were packed in a can of sardines. The best thing it has going for it is a glass dome you can see from the first floor or scan a QR code and sign up to go on a ledge to see it from the 3rd floor. It was about a 1 hour wait at the time of our visit, and the hassle didn't justify the gains. We explored but got in and out rather quickly. They have cafes in the store to keep the shoppers satisfied but while in Paris I rather support the local cafes. read more

It was very crowded when we came here a couple of days before Christmas, primarily because of the late rush for Christmas shopping and the stunning Christmas decorations at the main center hall. This year's Christmas decorations did not disappoint, with lights shows at intervals. It was all worth it for me, even if it was overly crowded. We came here to Buy but all the high end shops are here and everything decent starts at 1000 Euros. Nothing on sale, you are evaluated before they let you on to the carpet just to look. In the end a special purse in blue or another watch wasn't in the cards for us. So many people can afford to be here and are , I watched a woman buy 8 Gucci Purses, different colors all alike. They serve you Tea while your things are pre wrapped in Gucci Cloth bags. The AIR was so Rare in there i could hardly think straight. This is where The best gets bought. It was an eye opening experience. i now imagine some have a special room for purses and another for shoes. Not just a shelf and a rack on the closet floor, like us. Amazing 3 hours. read more

I don't shop. I buy everything online, so the retail aspect of this fabled department store had absolutely zero appeal to me. However, I've always wanted to see the ornate glass dome upon which this store rests its exalted reputation. Jamie W and I were wrapping up a long walk from Montmartre and thought this would provide a nice late afternoon climax. No surprise that it was basically a zoo. We braved standing in the middle of the open ground floor and looked up at the beauty of the Art Nouveau ceiling (Photo 4). We were at constant risk of pending hordes of elephantine middle-aged women stampeding us on their way to designer sales (Photo 8). Regardless, it was gorgeous except for the see-through lucite platform that was unfortunately built to accommodate insatiable tourists. We kept going up the escalator to get alternative views of the architectural detail and finally arrived on the 7th floor for the rooftop terrace. Although pretty crowded in the late afternoon, we were impressed by the panoramic views of the Palais Garnier Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur Basilica, Montmartre, and the sea of city rooftops. Even if youre not a mall person or shopper you'll want to check this place out. The inside is so picturesque and the views from the rooftop are breathtaking. This place is huge. I love the layout so easy to follow. Note the bathrooms are on floor 6. They also have a decent size food court set up cafe style with different windows. Options: burger, pasta, pizza, salad, ice cream. And a full bar. If you love a good photo op go to floor 3 and do the glasswalk. I easily spent 3hrs in here and still didn't see everything. One of the biggest malls is I've ever seen who wouldn't love it here! It was a girls dream loved the Christmas decorations everywhere you turned it was tons of shops and restaurants to choose from. Galeries Lafayette is a place that I had never visited before. Thanks to a family member who had visited often when in France I had the opportunity to experience it. There are many floors to this magnificent landmark in Paris. The bottom levels filled with well known french designers: YSL, Louis Vuitton, DIOR. And others : Cartier, to name a few. The upper floors had a food court and shopping that was more my style. Dont forget to bring your passports and credit cards to get your VAT paperwork while shopping to get your refund for taxes back. Duty Free. My family had a blast with their shopping. I ate gelato, enjoyed the views on the top floor and purchased a very needed phone accessory to avoid thieves from snatching your iphone. IYKYK! Best investment ever, esp in London. 10/10 Hack: if trying to get an uber from here, its going to be difficult due to traffic and location. Walk across the street one block over to get better results there to catch an uber. You will thank me later. read more

There is so much to see here! We spent hours browsing and shopping. One thing to note for visitors is to ask each store for the VAT tax form. Then, you should go to the tax prep office within the shopping center to get it processed BEFORE you leave. I thought we were able to get it processed anywhere but that's not true. read more

We entered this upscale mall and were assaulted with scents of different colognes and perfumes. We quickly ascended to the second floor and found a little wine/food bar with central railing views or the beautiful stained glass dome. We travelled end of November so the Christmas decorations were stunning. Once seated at a rail table, we had no one come to serve us for at least 20 minutes. No greeting or offer of water or anything. We had to ask for service. Once ordered, we finally got our wine and they never brought our food. We only had one glass and opted to leave. I had seen this shopping center on YouTube and really wanted to check it out. My friend took me here on my first day in Paris. It was even more beautiful in person! It's huge and houses so many designer collections, fragrances and cosmetics, children's clothing, menswear, shoes, handbags, restaurants, souvenirs, candies, etc., etc. I've never seen anything like it before. You could spend an entire day here. I really wanted to go on the glasswalk, but we couldn't get a spot on that day. Thank goodness, we went back about a week later and were able to go on the glasswalk. It was incredible and something I'll never forget! The mall is quite large with a mix of luxury brands, mid brands, and even vintage stores. I really enjoyed looking in the vintage stores. There was a wide range of selection and sometimes you can find some good deals on unique items. It's fun to come and window shop or shop. They also have a VAT service area if you make enough purchases for that. The dome is quite beautiful and there's a platform you can go on to take a picture. For the platform, there is a line you have to wait in. read more

I was in Paris over the holidays and did the normal window shopping in Champ Elysee. I wanted some skin care sets to bring back as gifts and the employee at Dior mentioned to me that the gift sets can be found at Galeries Lafayette. So, I decided to make my way over there. I will say that this center is SOOOO busy. I did come during the holidays, so I assume that it was extra busy, but there were just people everywhere. It was quite overwhelming. They also have every store you can think of (Dior, LV, Chanel, etc). They also have ready-to-wear, accessories, bags, skin care. Everything you can think of. I made my way over to the Chanel skin care and the employees were brisk, but nice enough. I made my purchase really quickly and made my way to look around. Since I went during the holidays, it was decked out in holiday, which was pretty. Their VAT refund was also pretty easy. If you meet the criteria, then you get your receipt to the VAT refund area. They will print out the documents to scan when you leave EU. The employees there were super nice and helpful. Overall, I had a pretty decent experience here. That being said, if you are looking to buy a luxury item and want a more intimate experience, I would definitely check out the stand alone stores. Their inventory also seemed a little less that the stores itself. In addition, if you want to avoid to crowds, I would try other centers that is around Galeries Lafayette that had the same inventory and way less people. Not sure I would come back here but had a pleasant time. read more

Mink and I needed to do some shopping and she highly recommended shopping at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. She mentioned this mall has been open a long time and we noticed some signage that they have been open 130 years! The place looks amazing for its age. There are signs of wear and tear but one should expect that from such an established and busy mall. One of the main attractions here is their iconic glass dome. It's a wonder to see in real life and there is even a glass walkway you can go on to get the best photos. Aside from checking out their glass dome, one can get their steps in for the day shopping. They house luxury brand stores and separate them by men and women (different buildings). Customer service was great at a couple of the stores we shopped at but some stores have outrageous lines with little to no customer service. One store had us in line for a long time then come to find out that we had to go to another building. Would have been great if the sales associate asked us what we're looking for like how she did with all the customers in front of us but what can you do? For most people, items here will be less than their home country and they get VAT back. If you're buying expensive items then it's totally worth enduring the lines and process to get some of your hard earned money back. It's time consuming though but it can be worth it. I believe someone mentioned 12%? That's a decent chunk of change for larger ticket items. Please make sure to have your physical Passport available for the VAT. Glad we got to check out this longstanding mall in Paris and do some shopping there. read more

Probably the most structurally beautiful department store I've ever seen! They have so many luxurious brands to choose from in an iconic dome shaped building. Climb to the 8th floor terrace for a gorgeous view of the Paris skyline for free! If you are into shopping. or fashion history, please just add this to your Paris bucket list. There truly isn't anything else like it, it is so so beautiful. Not so much that you will find unique or excluding pieces that can't be found elsewhere, but just the space has to be seen at least once. There is now a clear walkway to get a photo at th top with the dome, however we did not do that as there was quite a lengthy line (It may be a paid item as well but I can't conform that). The additional of the champaign bar on the ground floor was also very cute and I would absolutely do that in the future. This place holds a special place in my hart as my mother actually headed the 1980s restoration and renovation of the ground floor. So it is very special to me to be there. It is also where I made my first designer bag purchase in my life with her on my first trip to Paris years ago with her. read more

Where my group entered, we instantly saw La Duree and got some macarons. The raspberry is very strong, orange blossom is somewhat strong, and I liked pistachio the best. The layout is very open with hardly any walls, so you can easily walk through and window shop. Practically everything is designer and way too expensive, so window shopping was pretty much all we did. And even if I did want to buy anything, most of the sizes were catered towards smaller bodies. Practically everything looked too small for me (I usually wear L/XL, and I need extra length for my height). The floors are organized by category, like a floor for women's clothing, shoes, kids, etc, which I liked. Made things very convenient. The center of the mall has a beautiful dome. There's a viewing platform on the third floor, but it has a line and we didn't wait for it. I did buy some things on the floor just below the rooftop terrace, just simple and cheap souvenirs. On the rooftop, there is a lovely view of the Opera House, and a semi okay view of the Eiffel though it's relatively far away. That's pretty much anything of note you can see. There was also a tv where people were watching I guess a sporting match. It's a big place, so we weren't able to explore everything. I might have to come back later. read more

Mall with beautiful ceiling and a rooftop with a great view of Paris. There's an indoor photo opportunity where you can take a photo with the ceiling backdrop, and it's free, but you should reserve online in advance. You do need to wait in line as they let a limited amount of people on at a time. They have a lot of different designer counters and the salespeople we encountered all spoke English. There's a tax refund area too but make sure to bring your passport! We stopped here to purchase Diorissimo for my mom's friend (which is apparently unavailable in LA) as well as to check out the Byredo products. There are some cafes inside as well. read more

I decided to check out the Galleries while I was visiting the area. They were recomended. I took the rail and managed to locate it. There are many upscale stores and about 6 floors. Each floor is divided between shoes, clothes, jewelry, men women and kids items. There are plenty upscale items to see. It is pretty pretentious and some stores are guarded or appoitment only. I stopped by Galeries Lafayette Haussmann mainly for the rooftop. The view is beautiful - you can see the Palais Garnier and even catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Just a heads-up: it was pretty crowded when I went. Inside, the stained glass dome is pretty. You can stand in line to walk out onto a platform in the center for about 5 minutes to snap some photos. I believe there's also a link online where you can reserve a time slot and skip the line. Overall, it's a nice mall with nice views and architecture. read more

Very breathtaking mall inside and out with a roof top to overlook Paris as well. They have a good selections of stores and we got our shopping fixed here. It will be a whole day event shopping here to look through everything. They have a nice rooftop on 7 floor, remember to stop by. And they also have a bridge in the middle of the mall; it's a great location to take photos. You will need to reserve your time but it's free of charge; it's something to do after a great shopping day. They also have a separate building with food but if you went on Sunday, most of them closed at 7pm, so be aware of the time. If your purchases are qualified for VAT refund, remember to stop by 1st floor to get the paperwork done and take it ton the airport for your money back. And bathroom is at the 6 floor. read more

We went on Christmas Eve, which was probably the most crowded day of the year. It was a madhouse. So crowded, you feel like cattle. Very maze-like inside too, like an open plan mall where one store kind of blends into another. The tree was beautiful but the line to do the glass walk was super long so we skipped it. Rooftop was also closed, which was a bummer. read more
