we are very new to this practice moved from upstate NY and were recommended, it was very easy to get into this practice and the service they provide is amazing. I love how they treat the child as if they are running the show, addressing them first to see what is going on with them, then talk to the parents. love the exam room size and comfort, the toys provided to help entertain, their is never a wait time, always takes times to answer questions and never feel rushed. i also LOVE how they have a seperate room for infants, this is an amazing practice/ safety precaution they have put in place!!! p,s, and your Stickers are the best per my little read more

This was going to be my son's pediatric office because it was mine as a child but we had so many horrible experiences that we have found another practice. On one occasion the receptionist was so incredibly rude to my husband and I that I walked out. The thing that threw me over the edge was that they kept making his appointments with all these various doctors that I didn't want. At his 6 month appointment in 2018 the doctor asked me if I wanted to give my son a flu shot. I politely told him that I wanted to talk it over with my husband before I decided because I didn't know 6month old babies could even get a flu shot. The doctor leaned over his desk, got in my face and said "CHILDREN ARE DYING AND YOUR NOT GOING TO GIVE YOUR SON A FLU SHOT?!!!" Is that what doctors are doing now? Intimidating parents into injecting our kids with a million vaccines that they done even need? The flu that year was extremely mild and in the entire season, only 7 deaths of children nation wide had been attributed to it. The doctor can't fear monger me into giving my child poison just so he can get a kick back. Do yourself a favor and find another office. read more

Doctors and nurses are GREAT! The best in the area, its a shame you can't be seen by them. They are being protected by Attila the Hun-like front of the house staff. Who are rude, crude and impolite.The abusive office manager brought my young daughter, a first time Mother to tears, stating :"if you cared so much for your baby daughter you would have kept your appointment and not be at the ER with her." Nope nope nope. We are delaying my sons vaccines after his 2 months shot and he had a reaction. They dismissed us from the practice. We declined the MMR shot and told the doctors this, and a few weeks letter got a certified letter in the mail saying we were "dismissed from the practice." Not that we were sad about it because we were debating switching anyway as I was unimpressed by their doctors. They must have a quota and if they don't get the amount of fully vaxxed kids they won't get their bonus. Also, at every appointment this was the only thing they focused on and talked about. My son is in perfect health and extremely verbal, and has had some shots but we disagree with giving so many at once. Look up the ingredients, I don't trust the federal government demanding which shots I give when. There is a reason children are so unhealthy today and doctors do not learn anything about ingredients in vaccines- they only learn that you must follow the CDC schedule- that is all they are taught in med school about this. They need to question more. Luckily we found another pediatrician for my son as well as a naturopath. Also, I've had appointments in the past that have been scheduled for a few months and they cancel at the 9th hour. It is a rotating practice, so unless you choose one specific doctor they just rotate your kids through and didn't seem to know my son's name or care much. Only care about pushing the vaccines because thats how doctors make their money today thanks to the pharmaceutical. We now go to Wildwood pediatrics-Dr. Condulis, who is a love- which has offices in Old Saybrook and Essex. They have awesome weekend hours, do not discriminate if you delay or do not vax according the cdc schedule, and are overall more caring, not to mention in a better area of the state! DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU CHOOSE THIS PRACTICE!!! read more

Was going to establish this as my children's new pediatrician after moving to the area but not sure I will even try now after the rudeness of the person when I called in. There is a way to tell someone that you can't see them that day without cutting them off and being rude. This place gets horrible reviews about their front desk but I was even willing to over look that if it meant good doctors but not sure I can deal with that every time I call. I highly recommend this place cleans house and gets someone with a better disposition working their phones. read more

We typically see Dr. Lovin (we love her!) in the Old Saybrook office but the day I called she was up in Gales Ferry. I was really surprised to see some of the reviews bashing the front desk staff at Gales Ferry. They have been nothing but extremely helpful and friendly. I've had to call back several times and each time they have been more than willing to help me. Thanks ladies!!! read more

I have been using this facility for children and grandchildren for at least 37 years. Before it changed to Northeast; we had no specific problems other than an appt issue once when the doctor was not there for said scheduled appt. That was prob 35 years ago. The staff was longterm, informed, friendly, and competent. Now; that it is NE every time you go it is more chaotic than the time before. Too many folks behind the desk tripping over each other and nothing seeming to be accomplished. You can't get through on the phone. ...calls repeatedly dropped. The so-called Office Manager Crystal is uninformed, ,argumentative, unfriendly, and certainly unhelpful. It is so far from the office it was back in the day. I know if I were starting over with an infant I would look long and hard before I would choose this office. The longtime doctors I still know and trust. I don't know all the new ones. 30 years ago I would always have given 5-*****'s Now I unfortunately am hard-pressed to give 2 primarily due to untrained incompetent staff and rudeness of the self-identified office manager. If she is as good as it gets for that position...things are really bad out there. read more

Absolutely horrible experience here. Dr Ancona was the Dr for my daughter who had been suddenly paralyzed. He had her "evaluated" and put into a psych ward because his claim was that she made it up. Over time she also lost her ability to pronounce words. (She was a teenager) He let her go on like this for 3 months!! I finally found a Dr with some sense who tested her for Lyme disease and within days of treatment beginning, her symptoms began to dissolve. She is now back to normal, no thanks to him. I spent countless hours in hospitals and psych wards being told that my daughter was lying and doing this for attention. These Drs do NOT understand Lyme disease and the effects it has and they completely shut down any idea of the possibility of treating for Lyme disease. If you have been bit by tick and are producing symptoms, find another group of Drs. These Drs simply do not care about treating for Lyme. read more

We were seen for our first time yesterday for a meet and greet with our newly assigned pediatrician Dr. Rosenthal. My oldest son is a very complicated case with a rare auto-immune disorder. Dr. Rosenthal was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. He really took his time listening to my son's history, talking to me and getting to know us. He has an incredible bedside manner and never talked down to us or at us. He made my highly anxious 7 year old very comfortable and immediately gained my confidence in his abilities to handle my son's complicated medical needs as a pediatrician. We feel so incredibly lucky to have found this practice and this doctor. We can rest easy knowing we have a great pediatrician on our team and it was so refreshing to have such a positive experience. We have found our children's doctor and couldn't be happier. read more

Love the doctors here. Went here as a kid and take both of my kids here now as well. There was one female doctor who we saw when our normal doctor was out who seemed a little short, but other than that we have never had a bad experience here. The only thing that I do not like is that unlike in many doctor's offices, there are no longer reminder telephone calls. When you schedule an appointment six months to a year in advance, it can be a little hard to remember as life tends to happen, so I wish they would bring this service back. I try to mark it on the calendar, but even so, sometimes things get overlooked, whereas a telephone call or message would not. read more

Dr. John Hennessey left me to die. I was a prior patient of Dr Plankeel's (loved him) until he retired. I was then given to Dr. Hennessey as his patient. I had been suffering from severe ulcers for years. I went to his office for help a few times just to be told it wasn't possible. That the blood I was throwing up had to have been from something else. I sat in his office in tears begging for a referral to get an endoscopy. He would not do it, told me it was irritable bowl syndrome, nothing more. I was throwing up large amounts of blood and was anemic. I almost died January 31, 2009 at 22 years of age. I was rushed to the hospital with the worst pain imaginable and had to have emergency perforated ulcer surgery immediately. I needed a blood transfusion, had air in my organs, and almost didn't make it through the surgery. I went back one more time after a car accident. I had nerve damage/drop foot in my left leg. He accused me of just looking for pain killers and making up the whole story. He "red flagged" me in all the hospitals in the area, telling them I was an addict just looking for pills. My test came back positive for nerve damage and I called his office and left a very nasty message on his machine. Please don't let what happened to me happen to you. Why take the chance. Great doctors unfortunately represented by an office staff that will leave you angry and waiting. Phones never go active on time and you cant get someone on the line without leaving a message and waiting by the phone for a return call. In 3 experiences the staff interrupted me on the phone and I could not get a word in edgewise. The attitude is that of "take it or leave it". Hopefully the doctor group recognizes this is hurting their business and patients and acts soon. Myself and 2 family members have found a new care providers due to this poor treatment and unprofessional conduct. read more

I used to go here as a child it was good then I had Dr.Lovin she was so sweet I loved her. When I had my daughter I chose them but now I wonder what happened in between those years...they've gone down hill and that new answering service isn't working out for patients who are used to getting reminder phone calls and now when you miss an appointment they charge you $50 which is ridiculous if you ask me and the receptionist are so moody some times you never know what you're going to get when you walk through that door. But tonight was the final straw I called during the day because my child wasn't feeling well and got that stupid answering service who made me wait 20mins just to have her tell me a doctor would call me...well an hour went by and no call so I called back and was hung up on and all the sudden the doctor magically calls me back. He rushed me and wasn't very informational he was one of those if you don't ask me I won't say kind of people. Then later I needed to take my child to the ER so I called them because they usually have a doctor on call and apparently now they don't because I nurse from Boston called me back and basically told me that they have on call doctors but they aren't 24-7 I'm sorry but that's what on call means being available when people need you. So therefore I'm done with them not treating me or my family like I'm a priority especially in a time of need. It's sad how far they've let their practice go read more
