It's so quiet here. The decor resemble an old English library (lots of wood panelling). A nice way to relax before flight.

There were a lot of affordable hotels near the train station (which is within walking distance to the Square) so figured it would be an easy walk for our flight to London. It ended up being easier to just take a taxi, with a flat rate of 10,7€. We didn't need to check bags, so headed for security. It took us about 45 minutes to get through security (standard x-ray and luggage checks). A common thing about European airports and train stations is that they don't announce the gate of your departure until at most 60 minutes before scheduled. This was the case for this as well, though experienced travelers knew it would be beyond Immigration control. Sure enough we were told Gate 23, and we went through passport control to leave the EU (just a visual check and stamp from an officer). There is a common waiting area for all international flights, and not much available in terms of food. Since we don't have status with British Airways, figured it might be rough finding overhead space (plus our bags are the US regulations which are technically a couple cm over the length limit). But nobody made a big deal of it (and we made sure the each of us had only two carry-ons plus our coats). We were able to find space before our seats in row 22 (though one of our bags we had to fit sideways since the older Airbus planes don't have the longest bins). We took off about 30 minutes late, and had a uneventful 105 minute flight to Heathrow. The tickets were about 55£ one-way per passenger, which was quite a bit cheaper than the trains we took to get to Italy.

It had frosted glass sliding doors but then we walked too far and i was like nah, let me go ask in there if they know where it's at. I went in and the ladies said I had found it :) So just know it's the lounge w/the frosted glass sliding doors, and it's also the only lounge at the airport. It was pretty empty when we arrived around 7AM. It had coffee, tea, and an assortment of pastries, lots of beverages (Schwepps, Coke, etc.) , cereals, yogurts. I wish they offered fresh fruit like oranges, apples, or bananas. enough seating and TVs. Restrooms were inside the lounge so that was nice we didn't have to exit. They were also clean.

This lounge is pretty small, just like the rest of the airport, so I didn't expect much. They had a decent selection of packaged snacks (crackers, etc). They have 2 coffee machines, tea, and packaged sandwiches in a refrigerator. Nothing special about this place but it's fine for a drink or a snack. They have a lot of plugs to charge your devices which is nice, and I thought there was enough seating. Nothing fancy here - pretty basic lounge but given the other food selection in Terminal A, they at least have a good variety of snacks to choose from and little cookies/pastries if you have a sweet tooth.
