Al Gallo is the best! I am new to the area and found his ad on the Olympic Diner placemat! We needed our bathroom painted and a large entrance wall. Originally there was horrible wallpaper on the walls which we removed ourselves. However, the glue that was behind the wallpaper would not budge! I called Al and he came over the same evening (on time) and looked at my walls. I immediately knew that he was the guy for this job. He knew exactly what needed to be done and didn't try to sell me on anything extra. Also being I am about burst at the seams with a new baby, I needed this done asap. Al worked with me on getting a quick estimate which was very reasonable and I scheduled immediately! Originally it was going to be a 3 day job and it turned out to be only 2! I had given him some paint swatches I got from Home Depot and he bought the paint and everything. The walls were smooth and you'd never know there was wallpaper there before! It's like I have a brand new bathroom!! I definitely want to do more work around the house and Al is going to be the first one that I call. I hired Al based on his reputation, price-point, and expertise. Al is an expert in paint and all your carpentry needs. He rolled paint for years prior to having his own crew so... trust his judgement and his vision. My job started with painting my entire house, then I added on cabinets, then I added on the basement, then I did my floors and he had to redo all my baseboards, finally I added on my kitchen table. Al has to have a 20% share in my house at this point lol. He is more like family vs my painter. His guys work rapidly and efficiently. They can be trusted if you are there or not. Al Gallo is a very nice man, however I was very displeased with the work that was done to my pantry. It took 2 days to skim coat one half of the wall, prime, and placed about 5 shelves on a pantry that was about 2' wide. In the written proposal, the shelves to be replaced were to be included as well as repairing of the walls, and priming. Al showed up with no shelves. I had to end up purchasing the shelves, and then his worker put the new wood shelves on top of old cracked wood. The walls were left with obvious cracks that his worker just rolled a brush over. I'm happy that I only hired Gallo painting for a small job, and didn't give him a larger project in my home. I would've sick to my stomach to see his shotty work in my house. read more

We had a few painting projects we wanted to have done and after coming to visit, talking to us about various aspects of the jobs and carefully estimating the work, Al came in the lowest of three quotes. We couldn't be happier with the work he and his team did. They did a terrific job, the quality of the work is outstanding: really even coats, very neat lines abutting the floors, ceilings and other surfaces. They even beautifully restored the paneling on a bay window that had warped prior to painting it. Plus they did a stunning job cleaning up - you really could not tell his crew had been there. I recently used this company, and I am sorry to say, I am extremely disappointed. Any level of professionalism just wasn't there. I was told by Al, the Owner, that it was my responsibility to inspect the job his painters were doing. It is not the customers responsibility, but the responsibility of the owner to keep an eye on his people, and the quality of work that is being produced. I am convinced that in many rooms only one coat of paint was applied... on top of that the walls were not prepped in a careful manner. The job went longer than expected because I demanded that some of the work be fixed. I did not pay over $5k for mediocre work that my husband and I could have done ourselves. There is paint on the walls, appliances, a banister in the walk up, and many others spots. I will never recommend this company to any of my friends or family members. Steer clear of this place. On top of that our original quote estimate was way off, and the actual price was almost four thousand more. We were in a rush to move into our house so Al tried to hustle us. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the work, and the behavior of the owner. All he cared about was getting paid. read more

I recently bought a Townhouse in Brewster. The place desperately needed an interior paint job and many repairs to walls and ceilings. It was going to be a big job. After doing a lot of research, I decided to give Gallo Paint a call. I spoke to Al Gallo directly. We spoke briefly on the phone and I explained to him what we needed. Al met us at the Townhouse a few days later, on a Saturday morning. Al listened to our requests and concerns and very methodically went through the entire house and noted everything that needed to be done and even pointed out a few things that we didn't notice that needed to be addressed. Within a day, Al got back to us with a very reasonable price and an ETA to begin work. They were actually able to begin work a week earlier than originally expected. His team went directly to work at 8AM and continued until 4PM with a break for lunch. Gallo's team were very professional, respectful and took every precaution to do an extremely neat and beautiful job. They fixed every damaged wall and neatly fixed any holes in walls or bad taping jobs left from previous past work. After they finished beautifully painting the entire interior, I had new carpeting installed. After the carpeters were done, Al came back with one of his guys to "touch up" any moldings that were exposed from old carpet being pulled up and new carpet put down. I have had nothing but compliments on how great the Townhouse looks, especially from neighbors who knew what it looked like before Gallo Paint worked their magic! We just had our house's exterior painted including our deck and front door. The job was done professionally and in a timely way. The cost was reasonable. We have lived here in Somers, NY for 32 years and our house looks brand new. Al Gallo's crew were very meticulous. The house was power-washed, all unwanted holes were patched and primed. Two coats of paint and/or stain were applied. The crew left us with a spotless job. My wife and I are very happy. I recommend Al Gallo and his crew wholeheartedly. read more
