My two black cats love Galloway! A great thing about this place is they are cat only & are appointment based. No barking dogs or other cats around when bringing them in. This helps decrease a lot of stress for my cats because they are the only ones in the clinic at their appointment time! Prices here are pretty reasonable to me: $55 per cat for a check up! You can tell that they set prices well & don't try to take advantage of us pet owners. They also handle our cats so well! Our cats were a little stressed but they do a good job of trying to keep them calm and still. The vet is kind & caring & we have also had great experiences with the vet techs here. I would definitely recommend bringing your cats here!!

My Panda cat a few days after our recent visit. This text/pic went unanswered.

Vet was too busy to help when it was really urgent. Unresponsive when we needed her the most. I took my Sr. Tabby there. We had been in a few years ago a couple times. So we got an appointment due to a cancellation. My kitty was hiding under the bed, weak, and uninterested in food. After this visit I got her meds. Her office guy was cold when I did so. I was told she was too busy to see her. I spent about $200. However, ended up spending much more at an Animal Hospital who actually did save her. I thought highly of Galloway before. I cannot recommend them after the treatment we received. I even sent pics of my cat's eyes. She was having a terrible allergic reaction. But all I got was ignored. Zero stars if I could.

Love having a cat only vet available in the South Bay! You can tell Dr. Son understands cats. She never tries to upsell you and does what is truly best for the animal My cat is a big baby, and at the vet he is an absolute nightmare because he is scared. Dr. Son told me that it is almost more harmful to bring him in for an annual check up than to not have him checked on at all, Especially right now while he is very young and healthy. I appreciate her honest advice and that she never tries to push services that are not needed. Lastly, the prices for medication's and visits are extremely fair. I feel like I get ripped off at every other vet I have ever been to where Galloway really is a fair charge for what the services are. Thank you so much Dr. son and staff!

Very nice Dr. I felt all the staff are very helpful and kind. Also quick but thorough. Had my kitten spayed here and she recovered nicely. Thank you again to the great staff !

This vet is amazing! She got antibiotics for our little Tiger right away for her URI! This vet really loves cats.

Mr R is on the right.

Ask the Community - Galloway Cat Clinic

Does anyone have any recommendations for a vet/clinic like Dr. Son? Like many others, I am so saddened that Galloway has closed, and now I'm on the search for a new cat-friendly vet that's also affordable.

Galloway has actually transitioned to a mobile clinic in Feb - you can get info here https://gallowaycatclinic.com - they take appts by phone. I am so grateful for this since Dr. Son is the very best!

I need a second opinion for my CKD kitty. I need a Feline Specialist. I'm worried that he's not getting the care he should. I'm very nervous about taking him to new veterinarians and some of the bad reviews on here make it worse. Is this place safe?

I also highly recommend Dr Son. She's the best. That's why she is booked 2-3 months in advance. Make an appointment, even if it's in February, but tell the receptionist to notify you if there is a cancellation. Call at 7am and ask to speak to Dr…

Hi! Is there any other way to make an appointment besides calling? Email or text? I've called several times over the past few days and no one has answered a single time. Thank you!

Power and phone service was off because of a drunk driver hitting the electrical box. Everything is working today 10/20.

I've been feeding a beautiful little approximately 3 year old, tame abandoned cat. He needs a good home. I'm not allowed pets. Any ideas on where I can take him? It's cold & wet. I can't stand to see him outside shivering. I'm in Torrance.

Harbor Animal Shelter, if you can't find anyone. Coyotes are everywhere. The cat is safer at Harbor Animal Shelter. Don't take to Carson Animal Shelter. They are a high kill shelter.

How do you get an appt here? The phone call is constantly no answer. Is walk-in OK?

I had to drive to the clinic to check if they were open, called for 2 months, no response. Dr. Son is so busy and such a good vet I felt it was worth the drive. Yes, she is open, apparently the front desk have cell phones, as they told me, so…

Do they take Care Credit card?

    No. They don't.

Anyone know if Galloway is still open? I've called every day, phone just rings and rings. Left message, but now there is no recording.

I just had my cat there last week ! It was fully operating!

Do they offer flea removal services?

No, but they sell flea medicine.

Do they offer discountEd services for stray cats?

They offer very reasonable prices to all cats, and I mean reasonable !! Dr. song is a advocate for cats.

Do they provide grooming service (bathing and haircut) also?

If a sanitary shave or bath is required, that may be scheduled and approved by the doctor prior to the actual appointment.

Our boy had some spinal issues amongst other things as he got older, and Dr. Moeller was always honest when it came to his prognosis and also never pushed unnecessary treatment or medications. I was desperate at one point and asked about an arthritis treatment, and she explained why our pup wouldn't be a good candidate for it which I appreciated because it was a very costly medicine, and in the end she was right. When she did advocate for treatment, I followed her lead and I am glad I did because it helped our guy live his final days somewhat comfortable before we had to say the hardest goodbye. The prices are also extremely fair coming from another clinic in Hermosa beach that was very high compared to this practice. We now have a 6 month old puppy named Penny and we just recently saw Dr. Moeller for her first wellness visit. She was once again wonderful and Penny was so happy to meet her and the staff. We look forward to many healthy years at Pacific Coast Animal Hospital and we plan on bringing our kitty in here for care soon too. Also- the front desk staff, and the vet techs are wonderful, patient and caring. I appreciated how kind and helpful they were with Jax and now our Penny girl. I was beyond disappointed with my experience at this clinic…read more From the very beginning, the customer service over the phone was poor. I had to call to reschedule my appointment, and the experience was frustrating. I requested a Friday appointment, but they scheduled me for Thursday instead. Then, after rescheduling, they never canceled my original appointment. The staff came across as impatient and, at times, rude. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse once I arrived. The appointment felt more like a financial transaction than a vet visit. Before the vet came into the room, I told the staff that my dog doesn't like his back legs or ears being touched. I shared this so they could approach him appropriately and make the visit as comfortable as possible for him. The vet did not perform a physical examination or even attempt to examine him. Instead, the visit consisted of telling me which vaccines he was due for. She then left the room, and I was left wondering what exactly I had paid the $70 exam fee for, considering the entire visit consisted of her saying, "Well, he's due for all his vaccines." I also asked for a refill of Bravecto. The receptionist who came into the room to discuss pricing told me that if I did not complete the $60-80 heartworm test, they would not provide the refill. Since Bravecto itself is a flea and tick medication and does not require heartworm testing, this felt like another unexpected expense added to the visit rather than a clearly communicated medical recommendation. To make matters worse, the vet prescribed anxiety medication for my dog and told me I had to either purchase it immediately or, if I wanted to think about it and come back later, I would have to pay another $70 exam fee just to have the prescription written again. That policy felt incredibly frustrating and came across as prioritizing revenue over patient care. Overall, the entire experience felt like it was about money at every turn rather than providing thoughtful, compassionate care for my dog. I left feeling unheard, disappointed, and with very little confidence that my dog's best interests were the priority. I will not be returning to this clinic, and I would encourage others to look for a vet practice that places more emphasis on quality care, communication, and building trust with pet owners rather than maximizing charges.

I was willing to accept high prices because I care about my dogs. Today, I went to get a simple nail trim and heartworm test to continue our flea and heartworm medication. I paid for the dogs services took them home and when I got home, realized that two of my dogs nails were obviously cut below the quick. I was very concerned about this because the reason I pay $40 for a nail trim is so that they can be done right and no one mentioned to me that anything had happened. I called to ask if they had noticed if something had happened to my dog and was told yes that they'd cut it. It had bled. They stopped the bleeding and it should be OK which NOBODY told me when I checked out. When I told them that they should've said something and I'd like a discount for my service today (which was total over $500 by the way) they told me no. I will not be back to this place because honestly if you can't trust someone to do a nail trim or at least let you know when something went wrong. I would not trust them with bigger things.

First, I would NOT recommend that anyone take their pets to this location or patronized any of their subsidiaries or specialists' referrals. I will say that the ladies in the front desk area are lovely, sweet people and over the years, I would often bring or purchase them with holiday gifts for their service, however the recent change in Management is horrendous! I've learned that Manny is the "new" Practice Manager and in my opinion is doing a horrible job! I've learned that several clients, including myself, have recently left this location due to lack of accurate information, gaslighting patient for clinical errors and the poor service/response rate from management. I recently called out errors on one of my pet's vaccinations chart and had to provide my own receipts to Manny and team for them to even acknowledge the inaccuracy. He insisted that he was correct until I presented the receipt showing otherwise. This is poor leadership; I never got an apologize for that! I recently had to endure a terrible conversation with Manny today where he was just determined to be RIGHT, rather than engage in active listening, again, terrible leadership qualities, zero accountabilit! If he is in charge over there, I would advise pet owners to steer clear! I have never written anything negative about this clinic until today! That means something. I decided to follow Dr. Sanchez at Animal Hospital of South Bay in Palos Verdes, CA. She is a compassionate leader who deeply cares about the patient and owner. I will only work with providers, referrals or clinics who put their patients FIRST! I had an awful experience at western Vet and the dental group that they referred me to recently. Good leaders take responsibility- you will not find that at this location anymore. BEWARE PET OWNERS!

We were scared and wanted help as quickly as possible. Instead, we felt like we walked into a business that saw our fear as an opportunity. Before discussing a reasonable treatment plan, we were charged over $1,300 for diagnostics (X-rays, ultrasound, bloodwork, etc.). After all of that, we were told he needed to be hospitalized for 24-48 hours at an estimated cost of $4,800-$6,100. We were devastated. Fortunately, we called a friend who works at Orange County Animal Hospital and immediately transferred our dog there. The difference was unbelievable. Their staff was compassionate, moved much faster, and took a thoughtful, measured approach that balanced what our dog actually needed with the financial reality every pet owner faces. Our dog was successfully treated overnight, and the total bill was about $1,400. We were also told the same diagnostic workup would have cost around $500 there instead of the $1,300 we had already paid. That experience made it impossible not to wonder whether ACCESS's recommendations were driven by what was best for our dog--or by what would generate the biggest bill. As a pet owner, you are at your most vulnerable during an emergency. You'll do almost anything to save your animal. In my opinion, ACCESS takes advantage of that desperation with staggering prices and an aggressive approach to treatment that can leave families feeling like they have no choice but to spend thousands of dollars on the spot. To make matters worse, with the exception of a couple of employees, we found the staff to be cold and unfriendly. The veterinarian we dealt with showed very little empathy during one of the most stressful nights we've ever had with our dog. I understand that emergency veterinary medicine is expensive. I expected to pay a premium. What I did not expect was to feel pressured into a treatment plan costing over $6,000, only to discover another emergency hospital treated the exact same condition successfully for a fraction of the cost. If you love your pet--and of course you do--please know that you have options. Call another emergency hospital. Get a second opinion if your pet is stable enough to do so. It could save you thousands of dollars without compromising your pet's care. I will never return to ACCESS Animal Hospital, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Based on my experience, I would only go here if there were truly no other emergency veterinary hospitals available.

I walked in with my dog alive, alert, and walking normally. Less than an hour after leaving this hospital, my dog was dead. I am sharing this because other pet owners, especially owners of French Bulldogs and other brachycephalic dogs, deserve to know what happened and ask questions. According to Kian's medical records, we arrived around 5:47 PM. He weighed 28.4 lbs, his temperature was 100.3°F, and he was documented as BAR (bright, alert and responsive). His heart and lungs were documented as normal. His records also specifically noted BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), stenotic nares, and an elongated soft palate. Kian had previously had a similar skin infection near his tail treated without sedation, so I never imagined a visit for a neck sore would end this way. At 6:17 PM, Kian was given Zenalpha (dexmedetomidine) IM for sedation. His neck was shaved and cleaned, and he received Polyflex (antibiotic) and Kenalog (steroid) injections. At approximately 6:30 PM, he was given atipamezole to reverse the sedation. His records list a temperature of 101.2°F, pulse 112, respiratory rate 36, and BAR. Approximately EIGHT MINUTES later, around 6:38 PM, Kian was released to me wearing an Elizabethan collar/cone. I was told he had done well and might be sleepy. The moment we got into the car, I knew something was wrong. This was not my normal Kian. He appeared scared, extremely restless and uncomfortable, repeatedly fighting the cone and unable to settle. Only about SIX MINUTES after leaving the hospital, around 6:44 PM, Kian suddenly had diarrhea. I got him out of the car. He then vomited green fluid and collapsed. Everything happened incredibly fast. We immediately rushed him to ACCESS Emergency Hospital. He was still warm when we arrived. They intubated him, performed CPR and advanced life-support measures, but they could not bring him back. Kian died after walking into this hospital less than an hour earlier for a skin infection. One of my biggest concerns is how quickly he was discharged after receiving reversal medication, particularly because he was a French Bulldog with BOAS documented in his medical record. I have also been unable to find documentation of additional post-reversal vital signs after the 6:30 PM set or a recovery monitoring sheet showing things such as oxygen saturation or blood pressure before he was released. I am also concerned about the cone. A subsequent veterinary note discussed the possibility that an Elizabethan collar could have increased respiratory effort in a dog with BOAS and potentially contributed to upper-airway obstruction and cardiopulmonary collapse. This is NOT a confirmed cause of Kian's death. Without definitive testing, we may never know exactly what happened, but it is one of the possibilities raised afterward. I still have serious questions: Why was sedation necessary for this procedure when his BOAS was documented? Was I adequately informed of the additional sedation risks associated with his airway disease? Why was he discharged approximately eight minutes after reversal? What recovery monitoring was performed before discharge? Why was he sent home wearing a cone so soon after sedation despite his documented airway issues? Could the medications, airway disease, cone, short recovery period, or a combination of factors have contributed to his collapse? I understand complications can happen in veterinary medicine, and I am not claiming to know the exact medical cause of Kian's death. What I DO know is that I brought my beloved dog in alive, responsive and walking normally for treatment of a skin infection. He was sedated, reversed, treated and released. Within minutes of leaving, he developed diarrhea, vomited, collapsed and died. Kian wasn't "just a dog." He was my family and my emotional support for six years. He was there through the deaths of both my parents, the births of my two daughters, and the hardest moments of my life. When I cried, Kian came running and climbed into my lap. He followed me everywhere. My daughters lost their dog, and I lost my best friend. I am sharing Kian's story so other owners know to ask detailed questions about sedation, airway risks, recovery monitoring, reversal medications and cones before taking their pet home. I will spend the rest of my life wondering how I took Kian to the vet for a skin infection and came home without him. We loved you so much, Kian. You deserved to come home with us.
