However, the lot had a good amount of parking. There were 2 events happening that day and there was still plenty of parking. We went on a walk on a trail and saw lots of gorgeous trees and flowers. The trail was about 2 miles and I enjoyed every minute. I feel like we got to see a good amount of that section of the park and I can't wait to come back to walk the other trails as well!

This park is a small neighborhood park located in Galloway, Ohio in the Southwest corner of the…read morecity of Columbus. I grew up in this neighborhood and still live here and I visit this park regularly. For its size I think it offers a great deal. Some of its amenities include: a field large enough to play football or soccer; a large oval-shaped paved trail to walk, run or rollerskate on; a playground for children; a gazebo shelter; tables and benches; and parking. During the warmer months the park gets full of people on Sundays. It is a great day to go if you enjoy people watching. I highly recommend it and encourage you to check it out if you live in the area.

There's a basketball court, a shelterhouse with picnic tables, a portapotty, a paved walking path, and a nice large playground area. The playground features baby, traditional, and adaptive swings, seesaws, several spinny seats, and a nice large structure that has slides and a lot of great climbing options. There's also a nice music section with several instruments to play. The playground was a bit hit. Street parking is available (but check the signage for exactly where) and it's also off of a biking path.

This park has over so many acres of land for dirt paths, woods, ponds, etc. What is there not to love about this place? Except why I don't live nearby! Many of the Metro Parks, though you can take your furry friend, do not allow pets on many of the trails. And if they do, it's a boring paved trail. Not at Prairie Oaks! This place loves dogs! Pets are allowed on basically every trail- and some are gravel, some are beautiful dirt paths, all through the woods and around the ponds and through the prairies- simply gorgeous!! There is even an off-leash area where your pup can hop in the water and splash around! I've always though this park to be too much of a drive, so I hadn't gone until now. But it's only ten miles outside the West Outerbelt, and only about a mile off the freeway- very convenient, and you feel like you're much farther away from the city than you are. I can't wait to go back. Maybe I'll go today!

There were really fun interactive elements to the center including a tank you could put your hands in. I enjoyed learning about all the different animals and their migration patterns. There are signs, and you can see the park but things are kind of narrow. Street parking only, as far as I could tell. There's a nice playground, a shelter, and lots of trees and grass. Tiffany C.'s recent review prompted me to go and re-visit Westgate Park for the first time in a…read morelong while. This place holds some good memories for me as my grandma used to bring me there when I was a kid. We'd find a table and have ourselves a picnic lunch of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was and still is a nice place for a picnic, a walk or to simply relax. It's still the same 46 acres of greenery, tall trees, paved walking pathways, along with a cement pond, shelter house and more. It's clean and attractive and it's held up well in it's 90 years. They even picked up that old chicken drumstick I dropped on the ground years ago. I know it's on the west side of Columbus but don't think that I've lost my marbles when I tell you to go there and check this place out. Don't be afraid of the area. The west side is a little shabby these days but it's not unsafe. The Westgate neighborhood though is nice, very nice actually and it shares that same middle class bourgeois lifestyle that Grandview and Clintonville have and this park reflects that. So feel free to take your KFC, bento boxes or maybe some organic chicken wraps and have yourself a picnic there. Like everyone else, I like this place so I'll give Westgate Park 4 stars.
