I really want to like this location. I like supporting my local businesses. The one on Williamson Rd is better organized and larger. Depending on what console games you are looking for you might have to GI Joe over guitar hero accessories and other misc equipment. The selection of games was okay given the small space of the place I did see a few not common games but no holy grails. The guy at the counter was friendly when I went to checkout. Their rewards system is good to sign up for if you are a frequent purchaser. Similar to gamestop it is an upfront cost ($10) but it gives you a discount on used games. Worth it to bring the game prices down in line with market prices (they are a tad high here) Decent place to check out, but not some place I would go out of my way to stop in. read more

"Junky" is the perfect way to describe this store. Very overpriced, games in terrible condition, and bad customer service. Everything was so overpriced to where I don't understand how this business is still running. Some games for newer consoles were literally more expensive than just buying it new. A lot of products were dirty, or damaged to the point where it likely wouldn't work. The store smelt like weed, and customer service wasn't even a thing since bro was higher than the pricing there. To top it all off, I saw someone come in to trade in around 10 games, and they offered them a whopping $2.50. If you're in dire need of a Game Junkies, go to the one on Williamson Rd, but even that one's not too great. Leave this location to rot. read more

The store wasn't open during the open hours, door was locked and no-one answered despite the sign saying open. And in my past interactions a lot of the games were priced above market value, and anything they bought from me was 20% of what it sells for on Amazon. Generally not the greatest place to go, despite having a good yet overpriced selection. read more

i have met the owner of the stores on 2 different occasions and I was impressed either time. the first time I was in the store and the owner was bragging about how he posted on FB about how recently several hundred dollars of games were stolen. He then posted the video of what happened and the public responded by spending thousands of dollars in the past several days. He said that he made more money in 2 days than he had made the past week. He wished he could thank the thieves for helping his biasness. The second time I had the pleasure of meeting him I walked into the store and he was yelling at an employee. I assumed that he would stop shortly after I entered the store, but it contained for the next 10 min. He was yelling about how his employee priced LEGO games lower than they should have been and that the employee was useless. read more

Game junkies are supposed to be a "Used" game retail store I called for a price on the original Xbox one and the guy gave me a price of 299 dollars I had bought a Xbox series x for 200 not to long ago the guy said he hiked the price up because of supply and demand that's wrong! My son bought a ps4 controller from them and they claimed it was an official sony Ps4 controller. When we went home we noticed it was NOT an official sony controller but an off brand. The controller didn't even connect to his playstation. My son tried to exchange the controller for his money back or for a new controller but they refused to do anything about it. came in on a Monday with intention of getting a gaming system by a great deal I had heard of from a friend of management (from my understanding..) The girl that was working that day was very helpful and polite. My card wasn't working, so after speaking to her manager she told me she'd hold everything for me and I'd get it tomorrow. Come the next day I walked into a totally different environment the MANAGER was working at the time. Suprisingly for someone who is supposed to be the best customer support for ANY company ECPECIALLY small buisnesses, he was impatient and rude. I explained why I was there and he interrupted me saying "that's only a cyber Monday deal" despite me already having an agreement and understanding that they would hold it for me until I could get it the next day. I completely understand that deals cannot last forever, but I wouldn't have wasted my time going back into this establishment if I had been informed that the deal was a one day thing, however, I was told that they would put the transaction on hold for me.q That being said I was not informed. Went to both locations in Roanoke. Smaller location smelled like weed. Games overpriced for what they were. Half the cases had printed off slipcovers. Modded games like "Pokemon My Ass edition". Not suitable for young children "whom the market should attract". Very unprofessional posts on Facebook and the people posting can't even spell. read more

Please do not go to this overpriced and rude game store. I went yesterday and was aware of the WEED smell upon entering. Then when I went to purchase what looked like a bundle of items when I took it to the guy at the register he called someone and then they priced each item individually. I bought the main system and when I got it home to look it over there is corrosion in the battery compartment. Now you may ask why I did not check before buying, good question! I went in their small store just browsing seeing what caught my eye. I ended up buying a Gamecube console and some games for it. For starters everything in here is crazy overpriced, their employees don't want to give you the time of day, and the controller that game with the Gamecube was absolutely disgusting. I mean really gross, the buttons were sticky, The crack between the casing had gunk in it, and the cord was also sticky. Just not professional and just 30 min of cleaning fixed it but I feel like that should happen on their end. Don't sell gross controllers. read more

I find this place to be one of the best places I've been to in Virginia they have everything you need from retro gaming to newer stuff, sometimes new releases, I read the other reviews and been to the store a lot and I've never seen that or had a problem with a return, can't complain about getting used stuff for a good price most the stuff I seen I've matched with eBay and it's all about the same, they are saving you the trouble from dealing with eBay and you get to see it in PERSON!! I've been scammed on eBay before, as long as you know what you are looking for and know stuff about it you will be just fine here, I've seen customers argue with the employees about every little thing and wouldn't that make you mad? Or aggravated? Even the employees at the Walmart you go to everyday argue with them and it's not their fault. They have a return policy for a reason, i know for a fact one of the people reading this has tried to return something not bc they didn't like it just because they need money and scam or if you ordered something you lie and say you never received it. These people that work he are smart that's why it's have the receipt, no cash back, but will replace it if it's broken, if the item is not their either fix it if it's a console or controller or give you another, that's fair, they are not a Walmart, this is older stuff it doesn't grow off trees, thank you for my time and telling you about this AMAZING, REASONABLE and OUTSTANDING gaming store!! I want to love this store, but I can't. The store thinks everything is a "collector's item" and raises the price to 20% or so more than you are going to pay online or at other retro stores. I have no hard feelings about it, because people with that money-grubbing mindset have to get their money, but I have gone in there a lot and I have never really been satisfied. I am treated like I don't know what I'm talking about and everything is seriously overpriced ... plus things that have been priced stay the same price for years, so they just sit there. That's why there are dozens of games in the "rare case" that nobody has bought in years. Unfortunately, they messed up my rewards points, which I kept very careful track of (hoping to get a deal) so I didn't get the discounts I was hoping for and I did all that work for nothing. I sadly don't trust it. Just a waste. Also, if you do find a gem, staff quickly look it up on eBay and charge you whatever they highest price is plus some. Why not just skip the store and go to eBay then? I can have that shopping experience on my phone any minute. Why would I drive across town and come in to a store to do that? At this point, I have spent hundreds of dollars in this store, but I am not going to spend another dime there unless something changes. Suggestions: 1) Treat your customers like they aren't idiots and thieves. We aren't. Be grateful for customers and maybe suggest a game with good gameplay once in a while. Do you even LIKE retro games? If not, hire someone who plays them and can suggest something. 2) Reprice some of the retro games once in a while. If games haven't sold in six months, they aren't going to, and we are just going to get it cheaper somewhere else. 3) Clean up the store. It's "junky". 4) Customers want to shop local, but you guys make it hard to do that. Make it about the GAMES and the COMMUNITY. I'm sorry, this store feels like it's all about the MONEY. You can ignore my comments if you want, call me names, but I actually WANT to love this store. I want to have a place I enjoy shopping for retro games locally.
