I went right before Christmas which might explain some of my experience. They have a good selection but were out of two of the games I was looking for. I used a Yelp deal which made my purchase a bargain, but otherwise it would have been on the pricey side. It is a small place and there were a lot of people shopping, so it was somewhat claustrophobic. No one approached me to help, but when I approached someone I received a friendly and well-informed response. I will go again if I want a game right away or feel I have the extra cash to "support local." read more

If you like board games this is the place. They meet up and play Tuesdays and Thursdays at a local restaurant. Not much else to say. The only problem I had is that some games were slightly above MSRP, which drove me to buy online. Other than that if you're looking for board games, and nothing else, than this place is perfect. read more

Cute shop in downtown Santa Barbara. Tons of games of every description. Most impressive, perhaps, was that when my mom went to buy the game she had selected, the guy behind the counter immediately pulled out a sample set and demonstrated how to play it. Jon and I stumbled upon Game Seeker and decided to look for a light two player game. The guy with the accent was hilarious as hell and sold us on "Lost Cities." He even demoed the game with us! Great selection of family fun games as well as what he calls "nerd games" such as Last Night on Earth, Battlestar Galactica, Ticket to Ride, etc. Great prices and service. read more

Great store with great game selections, one of the last game stores left in town. Went in there recently to buy a gift, and was shocked by the massive amounts of board games that flooded the shelves. This place is a tabletop and puzzle lover's dream! (Not sure why this place is categorized on Yelp as a video game joint. Maybe Yelp doesn't have tabletop as a category?) I've been hunting for a copy of Anomia everywhere around LA and was stoked to find it here right at the front of the store. This place offers way more than your usual onslaught of Settlers, Munchkin, and Fluxx staples, and the people who run the place are courteous too, which sometimes is a rarity in a games store. The staff at Game Seeker were incredibly knowledgable and helpful. My husband and I decided that we wanted to watch as little TV as possible and so we headed to this store to pick out a game that we could play when we come home tired from work. We walked out of the store with FOUR games, three of which we played that night and we had a great time. Passing through Santa Barbara on holiday a few years ago, saw this shop. We are keen board gamers, always looking out for something interesting and portable to play on holiday. "The Irish Guy" was really helpful (and checked out English football scores on the internet for us while we browsed), and sold us several good games, He then recommended a game (Rat-a Tat-Cat) that he didn't have in stock but thought we'd like - we picked it up in Monterey a few days later, and the whole family has loved playing it ever since. I go to UCSB so I'm not familiar with the stores in Santa Barbara too much. I wanted to buy some board games that were hard to find so I looked up board game stores in the area and I ended up at game seeker. I'm extremely happy I did. The owner, Irish guy, is a hell of a lot of fun to talk to and knows literally EVERYTHING there is to know about board games. He will take his time with you and make sure you go home happy with a game you like. I will be going back to him to buy any other board games I need. I don't know how much more I can recommend this place than I already have. Get up and go there! read more

We loved this place! There is a wall full of board games that included rarer games like King of Tokyo. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. I interacted with two different employees (one might have been an owner) and they were both outstanding. They were both ideal customer service agents in so far as they were not pushy but were responsive to my questions and sensitive to my desires. I cannot imagine the challenges of maintaining an inventory of games in a small shop on State Street, let alone the selection of Go boards (for which I was shopping). The place over all isn't bad but when i bought a game it had a lot of parts missing. Went back to return it and was told to seek call the manufacturer to get what I needed. Now I wasn't looking for a refund or complete exchange just the simple part to make the game actually work but nope. The fact also that the sales clerk had no Idea what i was talking about and was a little condecending also made things a lot worse. When I told her theys was parts missing she pulled everything out and said " is this all are you sure it's missing something". This game only has about 4 essential part and was missing three so yeah I was sure. read more
