I actually quite like Fountain Park because it is right on my doorstep and it has everything I need for an evening on entertainment. There is a large car park so you can drive here and if you use the cinema or other businesses your car park ticket is validated making the parking free. Free parking in Edinburgh is a bonus! You can go for something to eat and know what to expect in the chain restaurants before heading off to the cinema/bowling alley/casino. It's perhaps not as large as some of the out of town complexes you see in the likes of Glasgow, but it does have everything you need and something for everyone.

The architecture isn't very interesting, and there is literally nothing to catch one's eye. In a place like this, it would be so easy, for example, to work with local artists and have some works on display, perhaps in a rotating exhibition. It would give the place a bit more personality, and help people remember the entire complex of FountainPark, rather than just the Cineworld or the casino. Overall, there are great activities on offer at FountainPark, but nothing unique or interesting about the place itself.

The amusement hall is on the beach front and when it's warm an ice cream van parks up by it, offering lots of tempting treats. If you want to go for the full on traditional seaside experience, then about 5 minutes along the promenade, there's a whole series of fish and chips shops.

However, after one of their big songs during a shot, our server came up to them and told them if they didn't quiet down, she'd kick them out so I don't believe this place is supposed to be rowdy. After they left, the place did have a better ambiance. The vibe of this place is interesting with 50 shades of grey as wall paper in the bathroom and old movie theater seating against the wall with church pews as the other side. There is a lot to look at in there. The claw machine where you can built your drink is not rigged so you may lose a few pounds trying to get a drink. If you have old pounds, she likes 'em. The drinks were fantastic. And the ice cream was delicious. I'm not usually a fan of boozy ice cream (something about alcohol and cream turn me off) but the flavors in our whisky honeycomb were incredible. I wanted to try more cocktails but we had been drinking the whole day and I didn't want to be messy walking in a dark city I don't know. It caught up to me in the hotel room though. The staff seemed to have an endless energy, every spin of the 'random shot generator' wheel behind the bar resulted in the entire pub cheers and shouts. Cocktails, despite being only £3 a time were tasty and balanced, even if some feel like its the result of a sweet shop falling into a blender, sugar overload! Couple of good beers on tap, usual Edinburgh prices. 4 or so staff on duty so service was fairly quick and friendly. Everyone seemed welcome, from those in rock t-shirts and baseball caps to those in shirts and dresses at the end/start of a night on the town. Regardless of your first impression from the outside give it a shot, just aim for a busy night to really experience it. I've only been once, and after this review I really hope it wasn't a one off as my friend and I agreed we shall certainly be back!

Full of exhibits tucked away in hidden spots in the stairwells, the old prisons, and military barracks. Multitudes of museums housing the royal jewels, weapons, dress, and military units. Visited in August and purchased our tickets in June. It appears tickets sell out 3-4 weeks in advance. And the crowds get bigger by the hour inside. The 1pm firing of the cannon is a crowd-pleaser. And loud. Be prepared to take a lot of pictures.

Anyone could leave with a child. There appears to be no policy to ensure that that child is meant to be with the person they are leaving with. Given that my son managed to give us the slip makes the thought of what could happen here not worth bearing. The food is average. And it is kept to a moderate standard of cleanliness. I don't think I'll be going back until the kids are older.
