Growing up in New York I had many toys/toy brands from Europe and in raising my son I've been looking for a lot of the toys I remember from my childhood. I found my beloved Moulin Roty toys here to give to my son. The selection here is an awesome combine of whimsical aesthetic while simultaneously avoiding much of the plastic that has come to be a part of childhood. One of the employees asked if there was anything I was looking for and since he was working where Star Trek would have been, I told him. They had none on the floor. He directed me to the man behind the counter, where they keep the pricier comics. Yikes! But they weren't crazy pricey. I ended up with two. The two men in the back reminded me of the two owners of a bookstore I frequented in the States, both were kind and friendly. The man running the register up front was just as sweet and kind. I didn't exactly have the best experiences in comic stores back in the states, and I was a bit daunted by this place. But everything was so different from my past experiences. I loved it!

I went through about 12 boxes and 3 stacks of golden and silver age books and ended up buying 12 comics. Prices were fair, but the best part is their comic grading is spot on! It isn't as big as Taz Comics, but I've managed to find a few missing issues here that I couldn't find elsewhere. Comics are pretty well organized, but ask for help if you can't locate something, or you need help bringing down one of the heavy comic boxes. Pricing is generally reasonable for back issues (i.e. within +/- 50 cents what other places are charging). But, I have noticed some inconsistencies; one time, a comic I wanted that was in the back issues section section was more expensive than the same comic in the current issues section. Obviously, I grabbed the cheaper one. Toys, action figures, statues, busts and other collectables are also available for sale. However, you might want to check online first to compare prices. They also have a bunch of Funkos, including some rare ones that are priced accordingly. I don't collect Funkos, so I have no idea if prices are market value or not. Big Pete's is obviously a family run business as I sometimes see what seems like several generations of the family helping out at the store. Staff are generally friendly and helpful when asked questions. Free parking is available nearby, but may be difficult to find on the weekends if the weather is nice. COVID restrictions may require that you wait outside to get in as they only allow for a few customers at a time. Luckily, I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, they are closed Sundays, meaning the only time I can go is on Saturdays, which is usually a busy day.

That said, they seem to focus more on educational, exploitation, problem-solving and imagination products. They have many games and puzzles. What stands out is from this store is, all the snacks are not the normal ones you can get from TnT, Fujiya. It's not the largest store with the most variety but it has unique products. Prices are also more competitive than the other Japanese stores. Btw, they have discounted items that are near expiring that is crazy excellent pricing and I've never had an issue with. Free street parking on the front, next to a salon, and a sports racquet store.
