This is not directed at this specific store but the broader company policies of not insuring delivery of items. If you have a package stolen off your porch say that you simply did not get delivery because they will not send you a replacement item if you tell the truth. YOU are entirely on the hook for THEIR service, so just be aware. I would also suggest not making large purchases at one time, as this will only increase the potential loss you may suffer from THEIR service. They will however send you an auto-generated letter noting their deepest regret and wishing you better days. read more

I have to give this location 5 stars because both the management and staff are not only very knowledgeable, but they were willing to help me resolve an issue with corporate GameStop with my trade-in money becoming inaccessible. They were kind, courteous, and very sympathetic/reasonable to my situation. GameStop is suffering as a company in the age of dying physical media, however the retail employee structure is still very strong in its hiring. You'd expect people who work at GameStop to be super burned out but their attitude is overall positive and a lot of it has to do with the fact that they are gaming enthusiasts themselves. I bought 3 games as part of a buy 2 get 1 free deal online. I got an email that morning letting me know that my items are ready. I came by later that same day to find out that they gave away one of the games I had already bought to someone else without checking their ID or anything. We had to wait half an hour in the store while they figured out what to do and the best they could offer was a $7 refund?! Telling me that since the game was free as part of the deal this was a good offer?? The average price of the games with the offer was $28 by the way. Absolutely ridiculous. I asked for the manager and was informed all 3 employees working at the store were managers. So 3 managers couldn't figure out how to make sure the right games are given to the right people, to apologize appropriately, and provide a better solution to the issue. ATTENTION ALL GAMERS: The GameStop on 1252 S Canal St is awesome and I'm gonna tell you why. I came in looking for a very specific PlayStation product that in 2023 wasn't gonna be easy to find. I spoke to 'Rose', an employee, and she effortlessly steered me in the right direction to get what I needed. I later called the store to personally thank her for her help. Now I just want publicly express my appreciation for the excellent service she provided. It's too rare these days to find a store that employs knowledgeable staff that give a damn about their job. I typically find myself at Game Stop to try and sell off my old phones for cash, but trying to figure out what to do with my Apple watch after decommissioning my iPhone I stumbled online that Game Stop was offering $85 to buy them back. Considering I got mine for around $200 on sale and had maybe a year or two of use out of it, I thought it was a great way to get rid of my Apple watch that was just sitting and collecting dust and get some cash back in the process. In the past, I haven't had any issues trading in devices for cash, but gotta say the guy working while willing to help us go through the process of checking the watches was clearly not trained on how to do so nor had done it before. Going through his manual on the process to do so probably took about an hour to go through everything and make sure we were good. I'd say usually Game Stop is a good option if you're looking to flip old cell phones or accessories, but clearly training is needed here at this location to ensure employees can go through the process of inspecting and evaluating devices for buy back in a timely manner. Slightly bigger and definitely spacious enough to get around this Gamestop. They have way more Funkos than the Gamestop in my neighborhood. I go here when I go by Target to see if I can get some deals on Funkos or games that Target isn't offering. Sometimes the clearance section has some good stuff. It's honestly a hit or miss depending on the season. I got two cute Pikachus that cost $12 each for 50% off. Nice grab! read more

This gamestop has a great location, easy parking and best of all, great customer service. The employees are super nice and don't push you to be bias to one console or game. I've pre-ordered the last 3 Madden games, Call of Duty and Uncharted 2 from these guys. This location always holds midnight releases for blockbuster games too. Good Gamestop, well run. read more

The customer service here is atrocious! They say hello, and that's about it. If you ask any questions, it's like you're inconveniencing them. The lines here get extremely long at times, and there's usually only 1 person during the day. It takes forever to get out of there. When you finally do get to the register, they push you to sign up for their card or pre-order something--even though they couldn't be bothered to assist you or tell you anything about a game you had questions about. The store manager here has quite the mouth on him. This should be a family friendly place, but I would never bring children in here. Some of the things I've heard him say while being in there would make a sailor blush. The one on Halsted is much better! read more

I'm not a gamer. I love the wii and most games but not b/c of the "gaming" aspect of it, mainly b/c it's silly and fun. However, finding the wii games can be such a pain. Well, that's until I found this gamestop. I've been holding out for a while....I didn't want to give my secret up, but I guess I have to. This gamestop is AWESOME. Everyone here is great, friendly, nice, will look for the games in other locations and basically will do anything they can to help. I have stalker called them on numerous occasions to see if a game is in stock, and they never seem annoyed. LOL. They give great game suggestions and steer you away from games that suck. Don't go to Best Buy to get your game, go here instead. read more

This location should not be confused with the one that is in the Whole Foods/Panera Bread Complex, because the personalities of the stores are very distinct. This one is the one a few doors down from Jason's deli. As others have alluded to, the majority of people who shop at this location know what they want or are looking for sound advice. The staff has changed over the past 2 - 3 years, some for the better, and some for the worse due to a variety of circumstances, but the current staff they have has matured considerably from the first time that I met them. They've always been knowledgeable and friendly and have known their games in and out, but there's a level of confidence now that they all show in their abilities to be sales people and managers. Because of it's demure location, people who are not in the know may pass it up in favor of Target or Best Buy and ultimately feel left in the dark. For example, when Resident Evil 5 first came out, Best Buy and Target sold out very quickly of their first shipment while this Game Stop had a steady stream of customers and the supply lasted a little longer. Pricing is commensurate with other locations, of course, as are the sales. However, if you get to know the staff over time, they'll usually go the extra mile and pick out the cleanest used copy for you out of their selection, which I greatly appreciate. read more

I do not believe I have been in one of these places in the last 15 years! The store was small but packed full of games and accessories. The GameStop located at 1252 S Canal St Chicago, IL 60607 has a rude and unprofessional worker!!! The gentleman that wears glasses and have long dreads have no respect when it comes to customers asking or wanting information before making purchases. I came in yesterday to purchase an Xbox 1 and the gentleman I mention above was assisting me but before I made the purchase I wanted to contact the mother of my children to make sure about something. I didn't reach her so I told the gentleman thank you for your time. I came in today with my mind made up to make the purchase but I seen the ad for the two games deal so I asked the lady that was working behind the counter about it and the gentleman rudely interrupted our conversation and told me I asked these questions yesterday. We had an exchange of words of me telling I didn't ask about this specific deal and he went to tell me I did. I told him ok and turned around to proceed to the door and before I left I went up to him and told him he need to apologize for the disrespect and unprofessionalism displayed. We have stopped going to other electronic stores for our games/gaming systems and have gone to GameStop. This location, in particular, is fantastic. Avery was the gentleman who helped us and he was friendly, very knowledgeable, and approachable. He was patient with me (Mom who knows nothing about games) and answered every question my young kids had. Great location, awesome staff, obviously pretty prices. I was very impressed by all the employees knowledge of the games. They were more than willing to answer any questions, and give great advice. Went in there looking for an xbox, and was getting ready to buy a used Xbox, and let the employee know, sure enough as I was looking around, someone came in with a brand new xbox(the box hadn't even been opened yet), and the guy actually tucked it away for me as I spent the next 2 hours looking around. Ended up getting a brand new xbox for the used price. The only thing I didn't like was that they tend to close their doors a little early. Raced down there one night trying to get there before they closed, and made it with 10 min to spare, but their doors were already locked. read more

Not agreeing with the good reviews for this store. Called several times with questions. When someone did answer the phone, I got short one or two word replies to my questions. Went to this location in person and street people all around ... with one man following me through the parking lot yelling that I needed to buy his gloves. Not feeling the love in the store either. Had a problem that originated at another store location. This store not willing to help me with it. Literally sent me back out into the snow and cold with problem unresolved. read more

I had went and made a purchase yesterday Sunday, September 25, 2016. I had asked a simple question in which the customer service rep by the name of how are was extremely rude. Then I get home to open up what supposed to be my new Xbox, to find that it was previously opened, and all the redeemable codes have been used and the cords were taped with scotch tape, and the Madden game was not in the box. So since the store was already closed I called the store this morning asking to speak with the M.O.D and I was rudely hung up on not once but 3 times, and basically told I was a liar about the console box being used. The solution the man by the name of Stewart have me was that I could come back and get my money and go purchase it from another store. I have worked in customer service for 6+ years and the way that I have been treated these past two days at the same store is ridiculous. I will be taking this issue to the corporate office. read more
