I hate Gamestop but as Gamestops go this one is the best around. The employees are very nice even though it's clearly a stressful place to work. I feel bad that because of corporate policy sometimes they have just one employee handling a busy store which creates long wait times. (I've seen people get out of line and leave the store because of how slow it was.) But if you need to go to a Gamestop around here, I'd recommend this one. read more

So much for my first experience at GameStop. I get the 3 consoles, Xbox X and a few PlayStations I want to trade in and buy a PlayStation 5, 3 additional controllers and a half dozen games, and get there about an hour and ten minutes before they close. They "can't do trade ins tonight cause they are stacked up" with two employees and maybe one other customer... But they can do them tomorrow if I want to come back... If i could go any lower than 1 star this store would be at -5 stars. First off y'all need to change your goddamn store hours, not once but twice now i've come in at the time said online and the store isn't open. (Fix that immediately whoever the manager is) Second the associates/ leads are rude ash, y'all don't know how to properly communicate with customers and all have different answers to simple questions, quit making your own bs rules. ITS ANNOYING! Honestly...it's the worst store in the area. Poor customer service, not very friendly staff, store doesn't take anything for trade in that every other GameStop store in the area will. About the only thing you can gain from this location is a magazine subscription for your trash can. Store is the size of a closet. Almost everything is on clearance. More toys and stuffed animals than games. I've honestly never been satisfied with this store, other than its location. This particular store is the reason I rarely visit a GameStop at all. Despite the fact that I've not had a bad experience at any other store. Warning to buyers and sellers : Go to the East Main Street store in Whitehall. I was not very impressed with this GameStop at all. I frequent many of the locations, but this one was my least favorite. It's something about this area; it always tends to be chaotic. I think the major turnoff for this location was that their prices differed from others. I went in to buy Deus Ex and it was about $15 higher than the other locations. Overall, it has a similar layout to most GameStops, but it will most likely be more crowded and possible more expensive. read more

I bought a PS4 controller on Black Friday for $38.99. I thought I would mix it up a bit and get a gold controller since we currently have all black ones. When I got home, my wife immediately told me that my son would not like it and that I should exchange it for a black one. I went back to the store yesterday to make the exchange. The young clerk explained that he could not make an exchange because I bought the controller when they were $38.99 and they are now $64.99 and therefore I would owe another $20.00. I am not sure how he arrived at $20.00, must be that new math I keep hearing about. I asked him what was the difference between the gold controller in my hand and the other gold and camo and black controllers he has hanging on the wall. His answer was that they are priced at $64.99 and mine is only $38.99. Realizing my audience, I told him that he could take the $64.99 tag off of a black controller and put it over the $38.99 tag on my controller and everybody would be fine. He didn't understand. I said you have an asset that sells for whatever your current price sticker says. Nobody has to know I paid $38.99 two weeks ago. He didn't understand. By now a gentleman with a little more age on him had wandered over to see what was holding up the line. He said he was the manager so I brought him quickly up to speed. He also agreed that the store would lose money on this "EVEN" exchange. I realized that there was no reasoning with these folks. I explained that I would just take my money back and that I would walk up the street to Walmart or BestBuy or maybe even order from Amazon. I also mentioned that I was going to write this review and even told them that I could mention them by name if they wanted. The younger clerk defiantly provided his full name. As a father, I am embarrassed for the parents of this young man. Surely they raised him with more common sense than he has displayed and as such he will remain anonymous. When it was all said and done, I ordered the controller from Amazon because they take care of their customers and will eventually put poorly run businesses like Gamestop into bankruptcy. For what it's worth, I did call their 800 number. The CSR agreed that the store was wrong, but admitted that she had no control over the local store's decision. Not very impressed. Went in to purchase my husbands gift and told the employee what I wanted. He told me that the game series didn't exist and tried to get me to purchase a different item. Where do I start with this store? Why am I not shocked it has a 1.5 star rating? The staff here is usually less than friendly, border lining rude. They never seem to want to engage their customers beyond the transaction. I went in to sell a PS4 that was in excellent condition and my experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth all day. The first time I went in I forgot the controller charging cable, was annoyed but it was my fault. Drove home, came back and they tested the system and controller. Took about 10 minutes but that's normal. Bear in mind that this is one of the managers I'm dealing with. He says, everything is fine but he can't take my system because of a scuff mark on the back of the controller where it usually rests. To anyone else this is normal wear and tear but this guy literally told me it makes the controller defective. After he had wasted my time, instead of telling me this up front, I was visibly annoyed but didn't take it out on him. He hands me back a mess of wires that I had handed to him neatly wrapped. As my wife and I were leaving I expressed my feeling about that store and left in a huff. Maybe not my best moment but not once did I say a derogatory word to a single employee. For some reason this manager feels it's appropriate to follow me out and start saying thing to me across the parking lot and staring me down. I said some choice words back and left. Went to another GameStop in the area that inspected everything, made sure it worked, and completed my transaction without hesitation. During the process they were friendly, upbeat, and actually discussed games with me instead of just talking to other employees. This other GameStop also has four stars...what a surprise. This Taylor Rd store needs new employees before I'll ever go back. read more

Went in with daughter for her sell her old I-Phone 4S 16GB and my HTC Evo 4G. Both phones, according to the sales rep, were in excellent condition. Daughter received $51.20 for her I-Phone, which in kid dollars is a clean up! I received for my HTC a giant $2.40! The phone was in excellent shape and he could have @ least given me $20, which is what the website said was the price for the phone in great condition. When I asked him about it, he said the website prices were not "written in stone" and were only estimates. Price discrepancies are not unusual at this location. The weather was at a Level-1 and I didn't feel like going elsewhere. My daughter received pretty close to what the website quoted for her I-Phone. All I know is that $2.40 is a long way from $20. Have purchased 1400$ worth of games an equipment from this store this year and well over 2500 in the past 2 years...I needed them to quickly test my xbox as it would not turn on and needed to find out was it a power cord or a Xbox one console and I was refused that service....I will never return to game stop again and will be finding a new game shop....the guys at this store used to be so friendly I didn't catch this guys name but dark hair and glasses he was extremely inconsiderate uncaring and rude.... read more

Beware this places return policy. If you buy NEW and return with in there 7 day return policy they will tell you no if it's opened. They don't have a return policy posted so there's no way of knowing this. I specifically asked Tessa what the return policy was and she said " you can and return for any reason with in 7 days and you can return it if it breaks with in 30 days." So I atempted to bring it back becaue I don't have time to play it. I had it for 5 days and played it for a hour. I would've never purchased my Xbox one here had I know the return policy. I would've went to Walmart where it's the SAME EXACT PRICE and I can return it opened and in box with my receipt. And as Surprising as it sounds WAY BETTER customer service. I told the man standing at the counter I was going to post review and he shrugged and said "I don't care." The guy said that the return policy is on the back of the receipt and it is but it does specify a single thing! Just says "merchandise purchased on promotional discounts may be subject to additional return restrictions." Says nothing about if opened you can't return it. Would've been nice is Tessa had been up front and completely honest about the return policy when I asked her instead of just being worried about making a sale.. read more

My oldest son was looking for PS4 Battle Front edition after Christmas. This version had been discontinued by Sony and was hard to find . The Pickerington store did not have one but did take the time to call the Lancaster store and they had one and they held it for us to pickup later that evening. Price was typical of all other stores and the customer service we received was great from both locations. read more

The store years ago used to be run by a very good manager. As a customer I used to feel valued. Now? Not at all. Wish I could give it 1/2 star for the very poor treatment I received yesterday. I realize I'm not in the core market group of age, but I have money and it shouldn't matter what age I am. The only person in the store looked at me and scoffed. When I asked if they had a product in the store he sighed and looked at me and responded with a negative attitude 'No'. He didn't look in his system and he wasn't willing to look up if any other stores in the area contained any stock. He just said to me to go to another Gamestop and turned around to show me his back. There were not any other customers in the store except for two other people looking at games. He wasn't super busy with a long line as there wasn't one, so I felt as though my next question wouldn't be a 'bother'. I asked him if he could possibly look up in his system if any local stores in the area have stock as the website wasn't working 100% and allowing me to see if any do. He said I should call them and find out. I told him I forgot my cell phone, as i honestly did, so he again sighed and started to use the computer. He after several moments said that the Canal store had to and I should go there. He then glared at me with a very unfriendly look. I apparently have worn out my welcome. As I was just about the leave the store, hand on door, I hear a 'have a nice day..'. Honestly on top of the less than impressive customer service skills, the sarcasm of this employee has compelled me to write this complaint. I used to enjoy going to Gamestop to talk to the employees there about games and finding out games and consoles, etc. I now no longer will do business with Gamestop. Especially the Taylor square establishment. Very sad, as their business seems to be suffering, good luck with other customers that will take your crap and keep going back. read more
