I really liked the concept of having the side dishes buffet-style. It's really a mood-killer when you run out of lettuce or salad in the middle of eating your meats then waiting for your server to refill your salads. The offerings included fried calamari, Korean-sushi, sticky and sweet potatoes, fish cakes, and kimchi. Bulgogi-Haus does not seem to use MSG, even in their yummy kimchi, and I was simply content after the meal without having to reach for extra glasses of water. Kudos for having a coat rack separate from the dining tables so that the coats don't smell like meat after, and kudos for the plum wine/aloe drinks on the house!

There were a lot of people in the restaurant looking at me as I guess they aren't used to people eating or ordering really really really hot food. The chef was an older Korean lady that speaks German. She is the main and only cook and she cooked to perfection as you would expect in your grandmother's kitchen! I saw how she was able to cook 4-5 things at once and everything that came out of her small kitchen was perfect. We opted for the 7-course Asian-inspired tasting menu, and it did not disappoint. Each course showcased thoughtful flavor combinations and artful presentations, creating a cohesive and enjoyable culinary journey. Please note, they cook a bit aggressively on the salt. As avid fans of tasting menus, this one lived up to our expectations. Where the experience fell short was the service. While the staff were friendly, the lack of knowledge is noticeable and the fact that they were a bit loud when explaining the menu and not as attentive as one would expect at a Michelin-starred establishment. Plates and glassware were left uncleared for much of the evening, and we had to request their removal. Not once in the evening the table was cleaned from bread crumbs or spilled food. These lapses in service slightly overshadowed the otherwise excellent food. Also, at high level of el restaurant like this one; the servers are usually choreographed and organized when presenting each plate. This was not the case. The wine options are generous but if you want a cocktail, they need to run to another nearby establishment to get it for you. So, they try not to offer that option. I ordered the pork and bokchoy in chili sauce and hot and sour soup with rice and the combination knocked it out of the ball park. The pork was tender and perfectly cooked with the spice and heat from the mala pepper corns it was everything I was hoping for and more. I ended up coming here twice in the span of two days. The second night I got the dan dan noodles and even those were spectacular and really reasonably priced for such a satisfying meal. I would highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for authentic Szechuan food, you will see Chinese folks in the booths. It is that good.
